The Gourmet Innkeeper: Cooking Monsters in a Fantasy World

Chapter 203: Dealing with Leez

Leez soon found them as well and she barged into private rooms with that vivacious voice of hers. It was as if she was afraid people wouldn't hear her.

"FINN! You're here! I couldn't sleep last night thinking about you!"

"..."

Leiah gave her a look, and Leez coughed, realizing how that came out.

She cleared her throat as she corrected her words. "I just keep thinking about your technique—"

"..."

Leiah stood up to the door and dragged her in. Leez went straight to Finn, who was currently chewing on some skewered meat.

"That change in appearance you did, how it felt like the contours of your face changed—Teach me!"

Finn chuckled. "Of course."

Leez sparkled and then took out a set out of nowhere and placed it on the side table. Obviously, Leez also had a space rune.

"Thankfully, this thing still fits in my small space!" she said. Finn nodded and didn't make her wait. They just asked the restaurant to set up a smaller table at the side and set up there. This way, while this was ongoing, the rest could also chew and eat relaxedly.

Finn smiled. "I will teach Leez what to do, but we need people to test it on."

"Who wants to be the test subject?"

Somehow, Marcus and Victor ended up being the first subjects. He-he.

Why? Because the need for disguises for adventurers was not about beauty, though he'd have been fine with helping out the girls.

That said, if the legitimate stylists from Earth knew that he was posing as an expert in another place, maybe they'd pull out his hair.

In the end, he really just knew the basics. But the available tools now were only just the basics, so it balanced out.

For disguises, one of the better ways was facial hair. "Facial hair could completely change a person's appearance because it created an illusion of a different contoured face."

He showed how Marcus' face suddenly seemed more elongated and sharp by adding fake facial hair that followed that shape.

"We can heighten the nose, sink cheeks, and make the eyes look smaller by playing with light and shadow."

They looked at the results and clapped. It was very interesting!

That said, whether the men would ever actually use it was unknown, but it was good to know how to do it. Not to mention, it also enlightened them to be a bit more guarded and not just judge people's appearances on face value, in the sense that someone could be suspicious even when it wasn't obvious.

"And next…," he said, looking at the girls. His eyes flashed in interest before he focused on Leez.

"You know…it's not like your market has to be limited with adventurers," he said. "Plenty of non-fighters could make use of this, too. Rather…this new market could make you even more money."

If she made good money, then she'd be indebted, and his own business could flourish in turn!

And so, he taught lessons not only for disguise but for enhancement of features that women and some men are obsessed with!

Right now, at least in the areas near the borders, the trend of makeup had lagged behind. He reckoned it wasn't too bad, because according to Leez, the noble women in the central areas preferred extreme contrast. Extremely red lips and a whitened face with powder.

Leez had always questioned why it was popular but had just accepted that her own sense of beauty was faulty. That was until he met Finn.

An hour later, both Leiah and Reesa's features were enhanced, making them even more beautiful. Leez's eyes were sparkling.

"Women love to be beautiful," Finn said. "With a few brushes, you can add confidence and attraction."

"Amazing!"

"I know the trend is odd right now, but while some standards are arbitrary, others are instinctual. You'll be able to set the trends soon.

"That said, if you could find someone who knows plants and materials, I recommend investing in better-quality makeup. You can capitalize on this."

"This can totally make me a lot of money for my business," Leez said, nodding. "I should give you a share."

He smiled. "Don't give me too much credit. It's not like I invented these techniques." He was very humble about this. He wasn't even that skilled. The goodwill was more important in this case.

Leez, though, sparkled in curiosity."Can you introduce me to your masters?!"

Finn flinched. "...they are not in this world."

At this, except for Finn, everyone else's shoulders slumped in sadness.

"I see, my condolences."

Finn's lips twitched, but he did not correct them. "It's fine. I'm sure they are living their best life in another world."

There was a moment of silence to honor the dead, and Finn could only play along, silently apologising to all of his stylists for cursing them to death.

"So, you have a business?"

"Hmn, I am also a member of the Merchant Guild," Leez said, and it was Finn's eyes that sparkled this time.

He may have heard something of this line before, but to be honest, things before his sister was found were too much of a blur, and he did not get a lot of the details.

"In that case, I have a few more proposals," he said, taking out a few bottles from his 'space rune'.

Just the sight of them made Marcus and the others drool, which in turn made Leez's eyebrows rise high in curiosity.

"These are sauces I made myself. I will teach some of the basic applications, but I guarantee they can enhance food."

This was especially after he found out the main meat source in the safe zone were domesticated and wild animals, and not beasts, so he didn't have to bother with the sapsurge sap at all, making production and distribution even easier.

At this, they took some of the skewers from the restaurant. He then added different sauces over each piece of meat, handing it over to Leez.

The adventurers looked longingly at the skewers and then gave envious looks towards Leez, who only got more curious with their reactions.

She really didn't know what to expect. How much could a few drops per serving do, anyway?

She was quickly proven wrong within the first bite. Her eyes went wide, and she immediately slapped Finn's shoulder in glee. "DEAL!" she yelled, when they hadn't even talked about anything yet.

"We're going to get rich!"
