Aegon never felt guilty about what happened during his birth, Arnold and Xiu made sure to let him know in every way that he wasn't at fault.
He didn't think of that either, not before meeting his blood parents. He still didn't want them in his life after being absent all his life, but he did realise what his birth had done to this family.
Everything seemed tied to his birth, making him wonder if he hadn't been born, would things be different?
If he wasn't there on that day, perhaps his Grandmother would be alive and the Augustus family would still be together, happy. Xiu would still play with her brother and his parents wouldn't have divorced.
He had noticed how emotionless his mother was to everyone, but changed when she saw him. Perhaps she became like that after his birth, when she lost so much.
They were to blame for their choices, but what if the situation that forced that choice never arrived? What if he wasn't born at all?
Aegon knew that line of thinking was stupid, and Xiu would scold him if he ever told her, but sometimes one couldn't control their mind.
In his previous life, Aegon's greatest wish was to have a happy loving family. Now he had them, but his birth ended up causing them unhappiness.
'No need to overthink. You literally said the same thing to Cali!' he sighed. 'I need to find out first what happened back then.'
Aegon gave a glance to Xavier who had become a brother to him, or to Cali who became a sister to him. Just imagining trying to ignore their presence, as if they didn't exist, was making his heart ache.
Xiu endured way too much for him and was still enduring to this date.
Everyone was getting hurt. His mother, his father, his Opa, and especially Xiu. So Aegon didn't see any point in continuing this.
'Yes, I need to learn more and then decide on something. If I leave them be, they'll be like this even in their death. God, why does stubbornness run in my family?'
Fortunately, that same blood coursed through his veins. If he really became stubborn, then he would see it to the end.
Aegon could feel concerned gazes on him, as he realised he had once again fallen into his dazed state. But none interrupted him or asked him, as they knew he preferred this way.
'I also need to take my siblings into consideration.' Aegon thought. 'They also suffered in this. Their parents divorced, grandpa gone, grandma dead, aunt who could bring joy in their lives also gone, and even their supposedly younger brother. I wonder if they blame me?'
He wouldn't be surprised about that. The Empire seemed hellbent on making people think House Augustus was hollow, that Aegon's birth was a bad omen which destroyed everything.
In a way, it was true. No one in House Augustus had ever divorced because they valued Respect, Loyalty, and Honor way too much. Even if there wasn't love, the people would treat each other properly.
But it shattered when his parents divorced.
'I really need to start thinking of this,' Aegon sighed, took out a jar of soda and drank it full in one go. 'I will see this to the end.'
"The game's ending?"
Aegon snapped back to reality hearing Elara's voice and smiled back in gratitude. He thought, 'Let's focus on one thing for now.'
The game was more important for now.
Shaking those thoughts aside, he looked up at the screen and realised that the game was indeed in its ending stages. All nine turrets on both sides had fallen and the players had also reached Level 10, meaning they were fighting with their all.
It looked like House Thor had the upper hand, as they had taken the Knight and their offense was strong. House Ares constantly backed away.
Aegon's eyes flashed as he said, "It's a trap!"
House Thor pushed forward with all five players, their momentum strong with the Knight on their side. Two players on House Ares had gotten killed earlier, so now only three were left to defend.
The Tank had expanded the shield around the base so much that her figure disappeared beneath the colossus structure. The Mage and Marksman stood on either side, sweating buckets.
Each second seemed to announce their defeat, as the Knight advanced towards them.
"How?" Cali asked in confusion. "House Thor's strongest aspect is their offence. If they can't even pierce through that, I'll be really disappointed."
"Who said anything about stopping them?" Aegon smiled and said. "Ares is the God of War, so it seems like their House focused on War and strategies. They know they are weaker, so they've been playing with House Thor in a different manner."
He stared at the armour case around the base and said, "I don't know if you realise it or not, but they let the Jungler and Top Laner die intentionally."
"If they did that, then they're good actors," Elara said, frowning. "I didn't notice it at all."
"Now watch a minor demonstration of a war," Aegon declared, as he leaned back comfortably. "How someone weak can win against strong in a war."
"You're sure House Ares will win?" Rosa asked.
"Unless House Thor has more hidden trump cards, no, they aren't winning," Aegon shook his head. "And they reached the base."
Others also shifted their focus back on the screen. House Thor was upon House Ares's Base, attacking with their full power as the armour slowly began to come undone.
With victory moments away, House Thor grew happy as they unleashed their Ultimate too, killing the Mage in the process but what they didn't notice was a smile on the Mage's face.
Everyone in the room gave Aegon a suspicious glance before looking back at the screen.
That's when a change happened on the battlefield which surprised everyone watching the Games. They couldn't believe their eyes for a second.
Far from her Base and her Armour, House Ares's Tank appeared out of the bushes near Snow Domain's reaches. She had lost her armour, revealing her lithe figure, as she used her ultimate, traversing the great distance in seconds.
The Ash Domain, the House Thor's domain...was left undefended.
