Chapter 160: A Knight'S Battle

Jumping over the rocks, Cali took the shortest path to reach her outer Turret and laughed in delight, "Haha! This armour is the best!"

Just then, another man entered her view from the other side, carrying a long rhino-headed spear and wearing a classic brown armour with a red long cloth fluttering from his helmet.

He brandished his spear at her and, without a single word uttered, he launched himself at her with a flurry of stabs of his spear.

"No mood for roleplay?" Cali snorted in displeasure, before spinning on her pivot as the spear flashed by her waist. "I don't like your eyes."

"Shut up! Women like you shouldn't exist!" the Fighter spat out his words, as he did a massive sweep. The spear's tip glinted with crimson light, before a crimson wave spread around in a fan shape before him.

Cali ducked down, rolled forward and then jumped again, easily dodging the attacks, as her smile widened and her humoured voice sounded.

"Boost!"

The Fighter shivered for some reason, and instantly blocked his side with his spear's shaft just in time to catch the heavy punch that shook his bones and pushed him backwards.

His eyes behind the helm widened, as he muttered, "What kind of creature are you? A hybrid between monsters and humans?"

"Don't use your little brain," Cali scoffed and said. "It's already rotted enough after hating women."

"I don't hate all women but only the likes of you who don't know their place," the Fighter growled, before launching forward.

Cali didn't say anything more. Instead, her answer was her fists and her flawless Martial Arts she had been practicing for years.

This was how the Knights fought. They didn't have flashy, mysterious Spells. No, they had their bodies and their bodies were their greatest weapon.

Martial arts. Swordsmanship. Spear Arts. Archery. Movement techniques.

These were their arsenal.

Cali and the Fighter of Ash Domain exchanged several attacks with each other, showing once again how great their techniques were even in their weakened state.

But Cali noticed something important.

'Aegon was right.' Cali clicked her tongue.

The Fighter's spear was no normal spear. Not to mention his armour. All of them were hard to get by, yet this fight had them.

Cali was in a league of her own, so a normal Rank 5 Knight couldn't stand against her attacks. But the Fighter was different, as his shield and weapon allowed him to contend against her.

"Boost!"

Unfortunately for him, he was fighting a losing battle by prolonging the fight. He also realised it, as he tried to increase the speed of his attacks but nothing worked.

"Boost!"

Because of their low level, Cali's Boost had a cooldown and also lower effect. But a Boost still increased her power.

Feeling the strength coursing through her veins, Cali smiled and rammed herself forward without a care for her body.

It shocked the Fighter, but he didn't delay it any longer and thrust his spear forward as its tip glinted again.

Just as it collided against the soft fabric, he expected it to tear it apart easily. Contrary to his expectations, the soft black cloth held on against the impact, leaving behind only a scratch.

"Huh!?"

Cali didn't miss the opportunity and slammed her fists on his helmet with all her boosted strength. The impact dented the metal, but it still held on.

But she didn't stop at only one. A barrage of heavy fists landed right on his helmet, caving in his skull.

Dead.

As his body turned into particles, Cali snorted and said, "And a lowly woman just defeated you, pathetic scum."

Just as she turned around to finish the minions, her vision caught five knives glinting against the light and she instantly went on alert.

But it was all for naught, as a sharp blade glistened before slitting her throat in one single swipe.

Dead.

...

"Three for two. Not a bad deal, eh," Aegon said, taking a step forward as minions went past him. "A nice start."

"Don't become complacent, because I'm still taking this win," Gabriel said, her arrogance returning after her initial shock faded away.

Aegon shrugged and began to deal with her minions while she did with his. She didn't seem to be interested in attacking now, so he let her be. After all, she was still a 5-Star Mage, so it would be hard to contend against her now.

He could wait till they level up and he had his advantage of following all three Pathways.

'Still, we are doing better than I expected.' Aegon thought, as he tried to entangle Gabriel in Shadow chains, but she easily got away from them.

He shook his head and backed away. 'I guess it's not that surprising. My team is filled with monstrosity, after all.'

Cali was genuinely a very scary Knight to face in a battle. A monster whose power would just grow more and more as the battle raged on. While Elara was the greatest talent of Elves and they had poured their everything in her, making her a terrifying opponent too.

Finding a Knight and Marksman better than them at their rank would be very hard.

Then there was Xavier, who didn't shine like others, but was the most hard working of them. His background support was immensely important and helped these monsters' talent to fight without any breaks.

'What a team we have. But their Assassin is also scary if they could sneak up on Cali.' Aegon thought, as he once again cleaned the minions, gaining levels all while keeping Gabriel in check.

He didn't want her to go help her teammates, so he had to keep her in sight all the time. Unlike him, his friends didn't have great resistance towards Soul attacks. The only thing they could do against Gabriel's attacks was dodge.

Even he was apprehensive about her Phoenix Flames.

'Let's do everything step by step.'

[Rosa: Future Hubby, can you help in killing the Hydra? I think their Assassin is hiding nearby to steal the kill.]

'Coming! Others will continue on their lane!'

With that, Aegon dashed towards the Hydra. Following his movements, Gabriel also reached and went after the Hydra.

The first proper team battle was here.
