10x Rewards: Becoming Invincible With My Sign-in System

Chapter 168: Politics Is Shit

While the outside world was going wild seeing his performance, discussing what could be his last technique, Aegon himself slept peacefully.

The match's ending had exhausted him greatly, so he did just that. Sleeping peacefully until his communication stone vibrated, waking him up from his slumber.

He groaned, taking out the stone and unconsciously picked it up, "What is it, Xiu? I don't want more candies."

[You actually reject candies?]

"Huh? When did you get such an oldy voice?"

[Wake up, brat! Why are you even sleeping after the match?]

Aegon finally opened his eyes, as he looked around at his friends who were doing their own thing, then he looked down and his face turned ugly.

"Old man, I don't want someone ugly like you to wake me. It's blasphemy."

[Oh, shall I send some of my Maids to you?]

Aegon rubbed his chin and said, smiling, "Imperial Maids must be heavenly beauties, right? Hehe, send them."

All of a sudden, he felt coldness seeping into his spine and didn't dare to look behind him where Elara and Rosa were sitting.

He just coughed and added, "I was just joking, of course. I'm not a pervert like you."

[Really? Then what about the time I took you to...]

"AAANYWAYS!!!" Aegon hurriedly shouted, feeling the temperature around him dropping. 'Damn it! I have Mythical Rank Ice so why am I feeling cold?'

[Huh?]

"Just tell me why you disturbed my sleep?" Aegon paused, as a guess formed in his mind. "Is it cuz of what your dear Granddaughter said?"

[Of course. What else can give me such worry?]

"Nothing I can do here," Aegon said, his hand going for the water glass. "You know how sensitive my family is to that word."

[I know, but I can't have them be against me at times like these.]

"Aren't you overthinking?" Aegon asked, after splashing some water on his face. "I'm guessing Xiu will do something, but that's it, no?"

[This is different. If it was said in private, it would be children's matters but she just had to say it before the whole Empire.]

Aegon lingered for a while, finally understanding the problem. People called him that name all the time and even though his family didn't like it, they didn't just go attacking everyone who said that, but this was different.

A Princess said it before the whole Empire. It wasn't just kid's matter now. Especially since House Valeria also attended the Games.

He took out a packet of chocolate candies and popped one in his mouth, thinking about it, "So, I'm guessing nothing happened yet."

[Yet.]

"If you let this go, both House Augustus and House Valeria would be displeased."

[And Liliana. She's also an equivalent threat for the Empire.]

"Huh? She is?" Aegon asked, surprised. "I mean, she is powerful but that much of a threat?"

[You didn't do any research on your blood mother? What am I ever expecting?]

Aegon blinked in confusion and turned towards Xavier, "Oi, Light Bulb, do you know her?"

Xavier glared at him for that name before replying, "Who doesn't know her in Human Domain? She's Liliana Songsword, my brother."

"Want a beating?"

"No!"

"Then, stop creating useless suspense."

Xavier cleared his throat and said, "Well, best way to explain to you. Just imagine you using all your brain to invent stuff on war side. Offensive and defensive stuff solely meant for protecting humanity and destruction of Demon. And give yourself decades for that."

"That's Lady Liliana for you," Elara added. "She's famous even in our Slyvanna. A Legend who created such destructive things that pushed demons back as a whole."

Aegon's eyes remained wide open in surprise. He knew his mother was some kind of hot shot, but wasn't this too grand?

But thinking about it, he could understand. He only used his inventions to make his life comfortable, but if he changed that to war side, then the things he could create would be insane.

[Now you understand her worth? And she'll practically go to war against anyone for her kids. They're the only thing holding her back or rather chaining her down to humanity.]

Aegon took a deep breath, then cursed, 'Fucking hell! Why does it have to be so complicated?'

For the first time, he felt the overprotectiveness of his family was just too much. Just for an insult he couldn't care less about, they were doing so much.

Although he understood their reasoning too, he didn't like the situation that much.

[I will punish her. That's a given. I can even handle Arnold, but you need to handle Xiu and House Valeria.]

Aegon had calmed down by then, so he also noticed something in Samuel's voice. A suppressed anger. He couldn't help but smile, 'In my first life, I had no one. Now, it's the opposite. Even this old man is angry for me but can't do much.'

He shook his head and said, "Chillax! I'll talk to Xiu and my other House, but try to understand my situation too. You need to punish Gabriel before everyone."

[Is the situation still bad there?]

"What do you think?" Aegon snorted. "It just grew worse when I refused to stay there. If someone insults me like that publicly and nothing happens, you can just imagine the consequences."

[I can understand. Don't worry, Gabriel will be punished. I also renounce her claim to throne.]

"Wait! What?" Aegon exclaimed and even others got closer hearing that.

[It's a complicated situation, brat. Why do you think I hate politics? I would rather just Mobius Alliance than deal with all this. Even if I'm the most powerful of this domain, I'm helpless. The balance is important if I need humans to survive against the Retribution.]

Aegon could only feel pity for him. He sighed and said, "Fine. Though I do feel like you're using this situation too."

[Your guess is right. But that's just some matters of my own damned family. Anyways, rest assured. Gabriel will face consequences but I need your word that others will keep the Balance.]

"Don't act like we're some enemies negotiating something, Old man. We're friends," Aegon rolled his eyes and said. "If there wasn't politics involved here, I would have already handled it."

Samuel had helped Aegon a lot over the years, so he felt indebted to him. If he just asked, Aegon would have forgotten this matter easily.
