Deathly silence permeated in the Eternal Sanctum, like a cemetery after the dead had been buried. All eyes remained on a single man with beautiful features and golden eyes like that of a sun.
His words echoed in their minds. Many didn't understand the complications of his words and simply were stunned at how things had turned out.
But others thought of something else. A possibility none wanted to come true. Something that even the Emperor dreaded, but knew was impossible.
Aegon joining the demons.
It also meant House Valeria, the strongest House in the whole continent, joining the Demon's side. They remained neutral all the time, but still favoured humans because they wanted peace.
But if the opposite happened, it was hard to say if humanity could survive against the demons.
So that single possibility made many realise how big of an impact Aegon had simply by existing.
A single choice from him could change the lives of everyone on the continent.
In that silence stood Amon, as he stared deeply at Raphael, wondering if he even realised what he had spoken. Seeing that he didn't mean it that way, he sighed and said, "Are you sure about this?"
"Yes, please." Raphael nodded.
Aegon was called for the trial.
Soon, his team came out of their room, marching down towards the central platform with hateful looks on their faces. Especially Cali and Rosa who looked as if they would boil Raphael alive.
Only Aegon remained expressionless. No one could read what he was thinking or feeling. All they saw in his eyes was utter tranquility.
Back on the high seats, Rovan stared at Aegon with a complicated expression and said, "He just reminded me of you, Lady Liliana."
"Yes. How can he pull this off?" Arthur mumbled, scratching his chin. "Even I can't read his thoughts. What do you think, Lily?"
"It's a Skill!" Liliana commented, as usual a faint smile brightening her face upon seeing her child. "Even I can't get past it."
"I think Young Master will get out of this," Rovan said, frowning slightly. "His brain works weirdly, but I'm sure he has his tricks here too. No way he wants something and he'll let others get it so easily."
"You really believe in him a lot," Arthur commented, happy to know it.
"Because he is that way." Rovan shrugged. "If he really was a demon, then I'm sure he already planned like twenty plans to get away if he gets caught."
"But that's the Supreme Artefact," Liliana said. "I'm interested to see how he'll trick it."
"I'm more surprised Xiu didn't say anything on this," Arthur chuckled, remembering how his sister would jump on anyone, regardless of their status, if they said anything about him.
"Father is there to restrain her wild behaviour," Liliana replied. "But she's a good woman, so she won't interrupt in her son's life so much. She wants him to grow up fine too."
"You accepted it so casually," Rovan said, weirded out by how easily she did that.
"He lost his mother sixteen years ago, so if someone else raises him up, she'll obviously become his mother. Blood means nothing in these cases." Liliana said calmly, as if this matter had nothing to do with her at all.
On her side, Arthur grew silent. His gaze towards Aegon became complicated once again.
Back on the stage, Aegon stood before Raphael with his team sending daggers at the prince with their gazes. Even the usually calm Elara looked coldly at him.
Aegon gave a glance to the Fifth Prince who just smiled in response, then turned towards Amon and gave his identity stone. "Here! Please check it!"
'You dirty old man!' Aegon sent a mental message. 'You actually allowed him to access it without any consequences.'
'Oh my, such slander!' Amon smiled, as he took his stone and put it inside the Supreme Artefact.
His eyes glinted behind his monocle as he glanced at Aegon and replied, 'I am a neutral party.'
In just two seconds, the stone jumped out of the metal box as six green lights illuminated the dark insides. Along with those lights, Raphael's face paled in disbelief and fear.
Aegon's face finally changed as his lips tugged upwards and he turned towards the Prince. "Your Highness, please pay all the debts to the Academy."
"No, there is definitely something wrong!" Raphael said, refusing to believe the outcome. "I am hundred percent sure."
"The truth is already out, though!" Aegon shrugged, then picked up his stone.
"Are you saying I'm lying?" Raphael asked, his tone growing dangerous.
Unfazed by it, Aegon smiled even more widely and said, "Then, are you saying the Supreme Artefact isn't working? Then does that mean House Ares might also be falsely expelled?"
Raphael fell silent on his words, so Aegon stepped forward and pressed on, "Or are you saying that I cheated right under the nose of the Dean, all these audience and even His Majesty himself and none could detect?"
As the Sanctum turned silent once again, Aegon continued to stare in Raphael's eyes. He noticed how quickly his thoughts seemed to churn and his emotions quickly calmed down.
Raphael then smiled wryly and said, "Of course not. How can any of these esteemed people be blind to your tricks? In fact, how can I expect someone of your lineage to cheat?"
He chuckled softly and bowed lightly, "I apologise. I got the misinformation, so I'll make sure my informant gets the punishment."
Offering his hand, he said, "I hope we can continue our deep friendship and have a great match."
Aegon couldn't help but smile at his change of attitude and said, "Sure. But my friends are a bit sensitive so I can't guarantee anything about them."
He slapped Raphael's hand lightly and said, "Well then, let's give the audience a great match. Don't hold back, because we're coming at you with twice of our strength."
"I will never!"
The Sanctum burst with excitement once again. Not only because Aegon didn't turn out to be a demon, but also because this meant they could watch an epic match between them.
Only a few continued to focus on his interactions with the prince and considered their future.
"He's amazing!" Liliana said, her smile reaching her ears. "He actually did something so miraculous."
