Chapter 354: The Familiar Lord of Dragon City! (Part 2)

In a nutshell, to discern the specific differences between the two, and to unlock the secret of the black gel within the Emperor, Wu Liang believes he must meet the First Emperor of this world to uncover the truth.

"How long until the 'War of Chaos' begins?" Wu Liang asked as he looked at Nightmare No. 2.

The other party answered solemnly, "Three days."

The next moment, Wu Liang suddenly stood up.

With a smile, he asked Nightmare No. 2, "Could you give me a moment to think? I need to discuss with my companions whether to stay in Dragon City."

"Of course, no problem." With that, Nightmare No. 2 turned and left the wooden house.

As soon as it left, Nightmare screened this space with a Mental Cage to prevent the other party from observing.

Then it looked at Wu Liang with confusion, not knowing what he intended to do.

After confirming the protective measures were in place, Wu Liang spoke, "How is the spiritual analysis going?"

"Rest assured, its guard against us has basically disappeared. I didn't expect this guy to be exactly like me; even the structure of its spiritual defenses is the same," Nightmare marveled.

The words used to persuade Nightmare No. 2 had obvious flaws upon reflection.

Even the excuse of amnesia was terribly flimsy.

However, the reason Nightmare No. 2 still chose to believe was not just about wanting to recruit Wu Liang's help in Dragon City.

What's more important is that Nightmare has been continuously analyzing No. 2's spirit and soul, subtly and imperceptibly altering its perception and wariness of us.

Since the other party's soul is a perfect match to its own, coupled with Nightmare's vastly superior power, it was able to accomplish this quietly.

"Very well, then we shall meet the Lord of this city through it. For now, let's not head to Mount Tai. I want to use the opportunity of the 'War of Chaos' to attempt an encounter with the 'First Emperor,'" Wu Liang said seriously.

Since the Ghost Compendium chose to send us to a place so far from Mount Tai, it indicates that it also isn't in a rush to meet with us. Wu Liang thought that even if it took ten to fifteen days to head to Mount Tai, there should be no issue.

It's always here.

This is its world.

"From now on, I'll use the code name 'Mist.' As for you... use 'Puppet' since there cannot be two Nightmares in the same world," Wu Liang reminded.

Nightmare nodded in agreement.

As the man and ghost deliberated subsequent plans within the wooden house, Nightmare No. 2 looked into the distance with some envy.

It could sense that its courtyard was shielded by a highly concealed Spiritual Power.

The other party, so similar yet far stronger, left Nightmare No. 2 in awe.

Its power is still a considerable distance from reaching Lord-level strength. Although it ranks in the top five in Dragon City, the top three are nearing Lord-level.

Of course, the city's most powerful is naturally the City Lord.

"Sigh, when will I reach Lord-level? This would increase our chances in the upcoming War of Chaos!" Nightmare No. 2 lamented to itself.

It believed that its quickly diminishing wariness toward Wu Liang was mainly due to the latter's philosophy of abandoning territory and promoting peace.

As it likewise had no intention of expanding new territories.

Even if it reached Lord-level in the future, Nightmare No. 2 planned to remain in Dragon City, serving its Lord.

It didn't necessarily worship peace, but it revered the Lord of Dragon City, and would follow if they intended to stay neutral.

Hence, although Nightmare No. 2 enjoyed tormenting spies, it would relent if they were deemed harmless to Dragon City.

The forthcoming War of Chaos... might be different this time.

The closer it gets to the war's commencement, the more uneasy Nightmare No. 2 felt.

It worried that its barely City-Destroying Level power might not protect the city.

So, it eagerly sought the help of Wu Liang and his ghosts to remain, or at least ensure they didn't join other Lords against Dragon City.

Creak—

An unpleasant screech interrupted Nightmare No. 2's contemplation.

It turned to see Wu Liang opening the rickety door of the cabin and coming out; immediately, it approached with a smile, "Have you considered it? Perhaps you'd like to stroll around Dragon City to see if it suits your ideas. If it does, I'll help arrange a meeting with the City Lord."

"No problem, thank you," Wu Liang responded with a smile.

Though he had just met Nightmare No. 2, he was quite familiar with the persona of his Fierce Ghost Minion.

Through their recent interaction and partial memory analysis, it appeared that, despite differing environments, the two Nightmares shared certain distinct characteristics.

Such as—loyalty.

Nightmare executes its missions at all costs, and Wu Liang believed this Nightmare No. 2 held the same extraordinary loyalty to the City Lord of Dragon City.

Hence, approaching the City Lord through it was a natural choice.

The man and ghost, filled with their respective intentions, walked out of the courtyard together.

They stepped onto the bustling street teeming with ghosts—

Everywhere Wu Liang looked, various Fierce Ghosts engaged in conversation and interaction.

There were Fierce Ghosts holding their heads listening to recommendations for special supernatural nails to keep heads in place; shops lined with coffins and funeral goods where scores of Fierce Ghosts gathered, discussing the most appealing tribute items like a marketplace; storytelling ghosts recounted tales of certain Venerables or Lords with spirited voices on street-side chairs and tables; and even what seemed like a slaughterhouse was actually a clinic treating injured Fierce Ghosts.

It was all so absurd.

Yet, the constant demonic murmur of ghostly chatter and the chilling sensation of ghosts brushing against each other in crowded streets affirmed to Wu Liang that this was indeed reality.

Previously, having hurried to the small courtyard to meet with Nightmare, he hadn't had the chance to observe the city.

Now, it felt more like traveling back in time to a marketplace—but one crowded with ghosts, devoid of human presence.

Yet their behaviors and actions echoed aspects of human cultural development.

"Strange, isn't it said that the War of Chaos is approaching? Why do the Fierce Ghosts in the city show no panic?" Wu Liang asked curiously as he followed Nightmare No. 2 down the street.

Nightmare No. 2 lifted its head proudly, responding, "It's because of the Lord of Dragon City! The city has stood for nearly twenty years, and throughout every War of Chaos, it has never fallen. The Lord has always been that illustrious figure! Everyone holds immense confidence in them!"

At that moment, a peculiar commotion arose at the street's end.

Wu Liang vaguely heard people mentioning "Dragon City Lord."

He then saw the tightly packed ghosts on the street forcibly clearing a path.

Ghosts on both sides knelt, showering praises as if they were salvation, some even fervently longing for a glance from the Lord.

This unusual scene naturally drew the attention of Wu Liang and Nightmare No. 2.

He instinctively turned his head.

And beheld an extremely abstract sight—

A cube-shaped dragon creature, covered in eerie eyes, floated down the center of the street, resembling the mythical Yinglong, yet so grotesque as to instill fear.

This dragon, Wu Liang was very familiar with it.

It was the symbiotic Fierce Ghost of Director Long—the Magic Cube Dragon.
