My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 218: I Think You're Just Craving It

Zhang Yuxi and Du Yan were in the living room with the children, while Lin Feng and Lin Rui chatted in the kitchen.

Lin Rui got straight to the point. "Lin Feng, I'm planning to set up a driving school."

Lin Feng continued chopping vegetables. "That's great! Owning your own driving school, being your own boss—that sounds like a good plan."

Lin Rui nodded. "I had this idea two years ago, but I didn't have much money back then. Now I have some, but I'm afraid to take the plunge. I'm worried I might lose everything."

"Then why do you want to start one now?" Lin Feng asked.

Lin Rui sighed. "Look at the men in our Lin Family. Even the youngest, Lin Jie, got into Peking University and has already bought a house. I feel like I have to give it a shot. The worst that can happen is I lose it all and have to start over from scratch. Anyway, I have a marketable skill. As long as I don't starve, I'll be fine."

Lin Feng nodded. "That's a solid plan."

Lin Rui hesitated for a moment before adding, "I think if I'm going to run a driving school, I should either go big or not do it at all. If it's too small, it looks cheap and won't inspire confidence in students. But if it's big, that's a different story. It looks impressive, and having plenty of cars makes it seem more professional. People coming to learn will feel more secure."

Lin Feng agreed with his reasoning. A driving school was still a type of school, after all. The learning environment, the instructors' qualifications, and the quality of the cars were all crucial.

Lin Rui continued, "I teach large-vehicle operation, so the school will definitely need practice vehicles. I plan to buy five trucks, but I have less than five million yuan in total. I'm afraid it won't be enough. I might have to borrow some from you when the time comes. Don't worry, I'll pay you back the instant I start making money."

Lin Feng had already put the rice on to steam and had all the vegetables and meat prepped. He washed and dried his hands.

"Let's sit down and talk."

The two of them sat at a small table to the side.

"Let's not talk about borrowing," Lin Feng said. "Consider it my investment. I'm confident your driving school will definitely be profitable."

Lin Rui's face lit up. "Thank you, little brother. I really can't thank you enough."

While the men chatted, the women were watching the children and gossiping.

"Sister-in-law, how have you and Rui been doing lately?"

"He's changed quite a bit recently. At least his personality has mellowed out. He's not as arrogant and full of himself as he used to be."

"And you?"

"It's just so-so. A relationship between a husband and wife... it's like a shattered mirror. Even if it was good once, it can never be perfectly restored."

Looking at her son, Du Yan continued, "The last time I pushed for a divorce, I was dead set on it.

"But I couldn't bear to leave my son. He would call me every day, begging me to come back, crying his eyes out. You know my mother-in-law. She's a muddled person herself, so how could she possibly take care of a child? And if I divorced him, my parents obviously wouldn't raise my son for me, and he refuses to give me custody!

"I agonized for a week, but I couldn't hold out. I went back."

Du Yan took a deep breath. "If it weren't for this child, I would have left without a second thought." She sighed again. "People say that a woman who lets herself be trapped in a marriage for her child is a fool. They don't understand what it's like to carry a child for ten months, to watch them grow from a tiny little sprout, to nurture them day by day. After all the days and nights of care, all the hardship we've endured... it's not something you can just give up on easily.

"For the first few days after I came back, my son would cling to me while he slept, terrified that I would leave and abandon him. He'd follow me around all day asking if I didn't want him anymore, if I didn't love him anymore? Then I started thinking, your brother Rui is so busy every day. If I left, he would have to leave our son with my mother-in-law. Knowing how muddled she is, she might even lose the child... The thought alone sends me into a panic..."

Zhang Yuxi gently patted her hand. "Every child is the apple of their mother's eye. I understand."

Du Yan composed herself. "Anyway, it's all in the past. I don't want to think about anything anymore. He can do whatever he wants. I'll just turn a blind eye and play dumb. That's how the days go by."

Every time she witnessed such an unhappy marriage, Zhang Yuxi felt both grateful and terrified. Grateful to have found a man like Lin Feng. Terrified of how long this happiness could possibly last!

「After dinner, they stayed for a while before going home.」

"What did Rui say to you?" Zhang Yuxi asked.

"He wants to open a driving school but doesn't have enough money, so he asked for a loan. I told him to forget about a loan and just consider it my investment."

Zhang Yuxi hugged Lin Feng tightly.

Surprised, he asked softly, "What's wrong?"

"Husband, will you always be this good to me?"

"Yes, I will."

"Really?"

"Of course, it's true."

"But what about when I get old and my looks fade? Will you still be good to me then?"

"Yes. When you get old, I'll be getting old too, won't I?"

"I've heard that men get more charming with age... while women just become worthless."

"Nonsense. You'll still be a stunning beauty even when you're old."

"So, you admit it! You're just after my looks, aren't you?"

"Who said that? I value your inner beauty."

Zhang Yuxi's heart felt as sweet as honey, but her words were teasing. "As if I'm supposed to believe that. You're probably just sweet-talking me."

Lin Feng turned his head and gave her a meaningful glance.

It wasn't until later that night that Zhang Yuxi realized what that meaningful look meant.

Lin Feng led her out into the yard.

Staring at the moon in utter confusion, she asked, "Husband, aren't we going to bed?"

But Lin Feng just pointed at the moon. She thought he was going to ask if she thought it was beautiful.

Instead, she heard him say coolly, "Wife, you never seem to learn your lesson."

Zhang Yuxi froze. "Huh?"

She then watched as Lin Feng spread a blanket on the plastic running track. A large, circular mosquito net had been hung in the yard because the babies sometimes played out there in the evenings. Lin Feng led her inside it and offered a friendly reminder.

"I told you before not to question my feelings for you... didn't I?"

As dense as she could be, Zhang Yuxi now understood perfectly. Lin Feng had warned her that if she ever questioned his love for her again, he would 'teach' her a lesson.

Panic flashed across her face. "No, I've learned my lesson! I really have, Husband!"

"Oh? So you did it on purpose then... just to..."

No way. I'm not taking the fall for this. I'm a good girl!

Besides, she'd experienced Lin Feng's 'power' before. If she truly angered him, she could forget about having the strength to walk the next day.

The thought alone made Zhang Yuxi shake her head vigorously.

"No, I... I just spaced out for a moment... That's right, you know about 'pregnancy brain,' right? Sometimes, my brain gets a little fuzzy..."

Hearing her excuses, Lin Feng revealed a playful smile. "Is that so? Well then, maybe I can help you... sharpen that memory."

Lin Feng ended up carrying Zhang Yuxi back inside.

"Husband, I'll never doubt you again..." she murmured weakly.

"I don't believe you."

"I promise, I really won't."

"I still don't believe you."

"I swear," she whimpered.

"I think you were just craving it..." Lin Feng pointed to his own handsome face, a wicked grin spreading across it.

Zhang Yuxi was speechless.
