My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 472: Accidental Injury

The children hurriedly finished their fruit and went off to play.

"Be careful when you're playing!" Lin Feng called out from behind.

Xiaorui's aunt kept a watchful eye on them, never leaving their side.

The little ones discussed among themselves and unanimously decided to go swimming in the outdoor pool. The manor had both indoor and outdoor pools, and both were in use. Draining and refilling the pool takes a whole week, so during the summer, they keep it filled for the children who love to swim every day.

Sibao acted as a little coach, passing on the techniques he had learned at school to his older siblings and younger sister. Whenever they had free time, they would hold competitions.

Inside, by the smaller indoor pool, the kids changed into their swimsuits. Xiaorui wore a new spare one. After they played in the pool for a while, Xiaorui's aunt took the children to change their clothes.

Soon after, Lin Feng's voice carried over. "Time to wash your hands for dinner!"

Lin Feng was plating the food while Erbao and Sibao finished setting the tableware. The children took their seats one by one. Xiaorui sat in Sanbao's spot, looking at the feast on the table and unconsciously swallowing his saliva. His aunt sat beside him.

"Wait a moment, Daddy will pour you some juice!" Lin Feng announced.

It was fresh watermelon juice that Lin Feng had just squeezed himself. He had added a little sugar and chilled it for five minutes.

"Let's start eating!"

No sooner had Lin Feng finished speaking than Sibao was the first to move his chopsticks. "Oh, Dad, this is so delicious! I love you so much!"

The one thing Sibao could never live without was his dad's cooking. It was seriously to die for, wasn't it?

Xiaorui tried a piece of his favorite braised pork. The quadruplets also loved meat, so Lin Feng always bought pork belly whenever he went shopping. It was always premium quality—rich but not greasy, perfect whether it was stir-fried or cooked in other ways. The braised pork belly with preserved mustard greens he had made a while back had been devoured by the children.

"Wow, this is so good!" Xiaorui exclaimed.

Lin Feng smiled. "If it's good, then eat more! I've got more in the kitchen; you can take some back with you later."

Xiaorui waved his hand in refusal. It wouldn't be right to eat here and take food home, too! "I can't take this!"

"Consider it a gift from your uncle! It's just some braised pork; it's not worth much."

Everyone ate until they were full.

"Whose turn is it to wash the dishes today?" Lin Feng asked.

Erbao raised her hand. "Dad, it's my turn!"

Xiaorui quickly chimed in, "I'll help you! We can do it together!"

Erbao smiled sweetly. "Thank you!"

After the dining table was cleared, only Xiaorui and Erbao were left in the kitchen. Erbao wasn't tall enough and had to stand on a stool to reach the sink. Wearing sleeve protectors and an apron, she expertly began washing the dishes. Turning her head, she saw Xiaorui standing there, looking unsure of where to even start. It was clear he was inexperienced with such chores.

"You should go play. I can wash them by myself," she offered.

However, Xiaorui insisted. "I can do it."

"Alright then. You can rinse the dishes I've already washed. Make sure there are no suds left!"

"Okay."

Still not entirely confident, Erbao added a warning, "Check to make sure they're really clean. They shouldn't feel slippery, like there's still detergent on them."

"I get what you mean!"

CRASH!

The very first bowl slipped from his hands and shattered.

Hearing the noise, everyone rushed over. Xiaorui, flustered, tried to pick up the shards, but Lin Feng quickly stopped him. "Don't move! Uncle will get it. You'll cut yourself."

But it was too late. Xiaorui had already cut his hand, and it was bleeding.

Lin Feng scooped up the two children, one in each arm, carried them out of the kitchen, and then went to get the first-aid kit. The aunt said nothing, but her expression was full of reproach as she looked at Xiaorui.

The quadruplets were all a bit nervous. Erbao, especially, kept trying to comfort Xiaorui.

Sibao also chimed in, "Don't be afraid! The first time I washed dishes, I didn't cut my finger, but I did accidentally break a bowl!"

Dabao, the eldest, added his own reassurance. "A bowl isn't worth much. As long as you're okay, that's all that matters! Don't worry, we have a first-aid kit!"

Watching the blood well up from the wound, Xiaorui felt a bit scared, his little face tense.

Lin Feng returned with the first-aid kit and disinfected Xiaorui's wound. It wasn't a large cut, and after a quick cleaning, a band-aid was all it needed. Although it had bled quite a bit at first, the flow had mostly stopped.

Embarrassed and full of self-reproach, Xiaorui said, "I'm sorry, Uncle. I broke your bowl!"

What a kind-hearted child!

Lin Feng affectionately patted his head. "It's okay. One bowl is nothing to worry about."

Xiaorui then turned to apologize to Erbao. "I'm sorry. I wasn't any help to you at all."

Erbao shook her head. "It's the thought that counts! This is nothing!"

After Lin Feng cleaned up the kitchen, he packed up the braised pork. He also added some homemade cookies and snacks to the bag for Xiaorui. It was already seven o'clock and getting dark, so Xiaorui's aunt was urging him, "We should head back now."

Lin Feng handed the bag to her. "Take this!"

The aunt looked at the bag. "This..."

"It's nothing valuable, just some things I made. Take it back for Xiaorui to try," Lin Feng insisted. "If he likes them, I can make him some more next time."

The aunt smiled. "Then thank you very much."

"You're welcome!"

Xiaorui didn't want to leave. He kept looking back with every step, wishing he could stay. In the end, he had to go.

「In the car.」

The aunt sighed. "If you don't know how to wash dishes, why did you even try?"

"I couldn't just eat their food and do nothing, right?" Xiaorui replied quietly.

"Is that really why?" his aunt pressed.

Xiaorui fell silent. His eyes landed on the bag on the front passenger seat. "What's this?"

"That's from Sibao's father. It's all food."

Xiaorui opened the bag and counted six different kinds of delicious treats inside.

"Uncle's cooking is really amazing!"

"Yes, it certainly is!"

Xiaorui opened a box of snacks and took a bite. "Wow, delicious!"

The aunt smiled.

Xiaorui carefully put everything away. "When is Mom coming back?"

"I called her. She'll be back around ten."

"Oh."

Xiaorui gazed out the window, a pang of envy in his heart as he recalled the lively atmosphere at Lin Feng's house.

Just then, his phone rang. It was Erbao.

"Hey Xiaorui, it's me! I'm just calling to remind you not to get your injured finger wet, okay?"

"Thanks, I will!"

"Okay, and come over to play again soon! We all had a lot of fun today!"

"I did too!"

"Got to go now, I'm going to video call my mom!"

"Okay!"

「Every evening.」

Lin Feng would have a video call with Zhang Yuxi and Sanbao. When Zhang Yuxi learned that Xiaorui had visited that day and had gotten injured, she said, "Call Xiaorui in a few days to see if he's feeling better, okay?"

Erbao nodded vigorously. She felt somewhat responsible. After all, he'd only gotten hurt because he was trying to help her wash the dishes, so she felt a little guilty. But after Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi comforted her, Erbao's mood brightened, and she no longer felt so bad.

Meanwhile, Sanbao's performance date had also been set. It would be in three days. If they had nothing else to do tomorrow, they could set off to see him.

The thought of seeing Sanbao made Erbao and the others very excited.
