My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 473: Do you want to go abroad?

It was ten o'clock in the evening. Lin Feng was reading a book when Lin Jiajun called to thank him.

"Oh my, Director Lin! I really have to thank you!"

Lin Feng was puzzled. "Thank me for what?"

"You have no idea. Xiao Wen came back a completely changed person. He helps with household chores now, loves studying, and doesn't go out as much."

Lin Feng couldn't understand. "Why thank me? Maybe Xiao Wen just had an epiphany!"

He didn't think he had done anything special. He hadn't had a heart-to-heart with Xiao Wen, nor had he lectured him on any profound principles. He had just made him do some housework and ride horses, that's all.

Lin Jiajun's voice was full of relief. "Perhaps, but if he did have an epiphany, it happened while he was with you. I have to thank you no matter what! How about this? Tell me what you want to eat, my treat!"

Lin Feng smiled faintly. "I'm going abroad for a few days. You can treat me when I get back."

Lin Jiajun also knew about San Bao's competition and couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. "You know, I've been in Yangcheng for some time now, but as his uncle, I haven't been to a single one of San Bao's performances. I feel quite bad about it."

"It's fine," Lin Feng said. "What would happen to your business if you went? We'll be away for several days anyway."

All in all, the round trip would take about a week. As for Lin Jiajun, it was unthinkable that he would agree to leave his shop unattended for that long.

As they were talking, Xiao Wen's voice cut in. "Dad, you're still awake? What are you doing?"

"I'm chatting with your Uncle Lin Feng. They're going abroad tomorrow. Do you want to go? Dad will pay!"

Xiao Wen was bewildered. "Huh? Go abroad? I don't even have a passport."

"Your mom got one for you," Lin Jiajun said. "She thought it might come in handy. Do you want to go or not?"

Xiao Wen frowned. "Won't this be too much trouble for Uncle?"

Lin Feng's voice came through the phone. "It's no trouble at all. If Xiao Wen wants to go, we'll go together. I was just about to buy the tickets."

Lin Jiajun couldn't help but feel grateful. "Thank you, Director Lin. I'll transfer the money to you later."

"There's no need for money. It won't cost much for one person."

"I insist!"

After hanging up, Lin Jiajun hurriedly told his son to pack his things. This was Xiao Wen's first trip abroad, and just the thought of it was rather exciting!

While supervising his son, Lin Jiajun transferred fifty thousand to Lin Feng's bank account. That amount of money wasn't much to Lin Feng, but he couldn't just do nothing. How was that any different from taking advantage of someone? He was worried that if he sent it via WeChat, Lin Feng wouldn't accept it, and the transfer would be automatically refunded after twenty-four hours. Lin Jiajun didn't want his son to miss this opportunity.

"Your uncle said the flight is at ten tomorrow morning. We have to be at the airport by nine, which means we need to leave by eight! So, pack up quickly and then get some sleep! Hey, don't you think you should get a haircut?"

"You pack first. I'll go wake up your mom!"

Xiao Wen was speechless.

Wang Lu had been telling a story to her younger son and had dozed off.

"Honey? Honey?"

Wang Lu squinted her eyes. "What is it, dear?"

"Get up. I need you to do something!"

Perhaps it was Lin Jiajun's serious expression or his earnest tone, but Wang Lu woke up with a start. "Did Xiao Wen sneak out to the internet cafe again? That little rascal! He was good for a few days, and now he's back to his old habits?"

Lin Jiajun hurriedly soothed his wife. "No, nothing like that. Don't get worked up. I just need you to give Xiao Wen a haircut."

Wang Lu thought she had misheard. "What? A haircut? Why? Are you out of your mind?"

My wife's temper is getting more and more volatile these days!

"Stop with the nonsense. Our son is going abroad with Lin Feng tomorrow. Hurry up and tidy up his hair."

"Abroad? When was this decided?"

"About five minutes ago."

Wang Lu didn't say anything else, bottling up her frustration to deal with Lin Jiajun later.

How exactly did Wang Lu become a hairdresser? The story started with Xiao Wen's younger brother, Xiao Cheng. Just like Da Bao, Xiao Cheng had hated getting haircuts since he was a young boy; he acted as if going to the barber shop was a matter of life and death. So, following others' examples, Wang Lu bought some hair clippers and learned to do it herself. For a child, a simple buzz cut was fine. But as he grew up and saw all the different hairstyles on the street, Wang Lu had an idea. We need to have some stylish haircuts, too!

And so, she slowly taught herself, becoming something of a half-baked hairdresser. Anyway, she only knew a few styles, but she possessed an inexplicable confidence that the stylists outside weren't as skilled as she was. Fueled by this confidence, her next subject was Lin Jiajun.

"You're already married with two kids, so what if you're a little uglier? Do you have someone else on your mind?"

"I just said the haircut was ugly, and you lecture me like this... Fine, fine, fine! You cut it. Cut it however you want!"

And just like that, with Lin Jiajun as her practice dummy, Wang Lu's focus shifted to Xiao Wen. Seeing the results on his father, Xiao Wen actually had a lot of trust in his mother's skills.

Wang Lu took out her tools and saw her son had everything ready. "Come on, Mom will cut your hair for you!"

SNIP, SNIP. The trimming was done.

Xiao Wen was quite handsome; not at all ugly. But he couldn't be compared to someone like Lin Feng. Next to him, he would be instantly crushed to dust. Still, Xiao Wen was very satisfied and went to take a shower.

"Finish up and get to sleep. I'll wake you in the morning!"

Now fully awake, Wang Lu asked, "Why the sudden idea about going abroad?"

Lin Jiajun stated it as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "To see the world, of course! Look how much Xiao Wen has changed after just a short time at Lin Feng's place! There must be a reason for it. I don't know what that reason is, but letting Xiao Wen spend more time with Lin Feng can't possibly be a bad thing!"

Wang Lu nodded in agreement. "Xiao Wen is in junior high. It's time to broaden his horizons. Once he's seen more of the world, his perspective will change, too."

This was exactly what Lin Jiajun was thinking. "Exactly! Look at me, I can't get away right now, and you're with Xiao Cheng all day. I wouldn't be at ease if the three of you went abroad by yourselves! I want to go with you, but I just don't have the time..."

"So, taking this opportunity to let Xiao Wen see the world is definitely for the best!" Lin Jiajun concluded.

Wang Lu yawned. "I'll take Xiao Wen to the airport tomorrow. You finish up your work and get some sleep!"

"Alright. I still have some things to take care of. You go to bed first."

「The next day.」

While her younger son was still asleep, Wang Lu instructed Lin Jiajun to look after him and then drove to the airport. In all his life, Xiao Wen had only been on a plane a few times, and this was his first trip abroad. He had been so excited the previous night that it took him a long time to fall into a deep sleep, his excitement mixed with a bit of apprehension and nervousness.

Lin Feng and his family were already waiting at the airport, as they needed Xiao Wen's documents to pick up his plane ticket. Worried about her youngest son at home, Wang Lu brought Xiao Wen over to Lin Feng, gave him some detailed instructions, and then hurried back.

"Director Lin, I'm sorry for the trouble. If this kid misbehaves, feel free to scold him. I'll deal with him when he gets back! I have to go now. Jiajun needs to be at the shop by nine, so I have to get back to look after the little one!"

The drive for Wang Lu was about fifty minutes each way, a round trip of nearly two hours, so she couldn't afford any delays.

Lin Feng went to get the tickets, and after going through all the procedures, they boarded the plane. Seeing that Xiao Wen looked like he hadn't slept well, Lin Feng smiled and said, "This is a long flight, almost ten hours. You can get some sleep on the plane."

With the flight time and the time difference, it would be evening at their destination when they arrived, allowing them to get a comfortable night's sleep. Lin Feng had purchased first-class tickets, which were much more comfortable and made the ten-hour flight seem less arduous.

Airplane food was never great, but Lin Feng still made sure they ate something. After all, this was no short-haul flight.
