'There are only women in the village.' Lucian thought with a hand on his chin. He was able to consciously see some part of the village while pretending to be brainwashed in Jade's house; he started pretending after hearing Jade's suggestions that he should be killed.
Lucian didn't have much information about where he was, and the only way he could get more information was by making Wisteria take him out of the house again. He was sure that Wisteria and the others in the village weren't human, even though they had human form. There was a lot Lucian needed to find out: why the beast in the village chose to trap humans in their home instead of killing them, and why they had a human civilization. It was an old form of life for Lucian, as though he had been taken back in time, but the clothes his system had to offer him weren't modern; they were all low-quality fabrics that his parents would choose as rags.
Lucian lay down on his bed; he thought of trying to snap Luna out of the foggy state she was in, but he couldn't. If he made any suspicious move in the Wisteria home, then she was going to know that he was in his right senses. Luna was the only one under the same roof with him; he also knew where Marta was, but Soren was nowhere to be seen.
It took days before Wisteria took Lucian out of the house again; it wasn't by his own suggestion but out of her free will, like he had been hoping for. For each day Lucian pretended to act like a cheerful young man with a sister and a mother who he loved, he felt like his mental health was breaking. He would rather be frozen in the snow than be trapped in Wisteria House.
A slit appeared in the air, opening a different space. Draven is roughly pulled by an uncontrollable force of magic that made him land on his butt; the smile on his face faded away as he let out a deep breath at the sight of Wisteria and stood to his feet.
"You called for me?" He asked in a displeased tone, sparing one single glance to Lucian.
"How has life been for you, Draven?" Wisteria asked coldly. She smiled and waved at her two women who passed by and greeted her. "It's been fun, hasn't it?"
'It has been fun until you brought me back here.' Draven thought, remembering once again that his life was hell.
"It's been days, and the last time we spoke you promised to get back to me as soon as possible. but it seems like you are hesitating to do your job." Wisteria's voice was empty of the kindness she had shown her people. "If you are incompetent, or you simply can't do this, then I guess I'm going to have to find a permanent new home for you."
Draven let out a nervous laugh. "Calm down. Calmed down. You know that every player moves together in a team; there is no way I can fight against a whole team by myself. So if I want to get them to this dungeon, then I need them to trust me." Draven glared at Wisteria. "It would be hard to get anyone in the outside world to trust me if I'm suddenly pulled away from them. How am I going to explain your stunt to them?"
'Dungeon,' Lucian thought, looking at his environment again. He was in a place that had few stores and looked exactly like a market. Finally, Lucian had confirmation about where he was. Although the scenery was different, he was still trapped in the cold dungeon.
"Move faster!" A little voice shouted.
Lucian turned to the voice and saw Reed giving a little girl a piggyback ride; she kept slapping him hard on the head as she barked orders at him as though he were nothing more than a trained dog. Without complaints, Reed obeys the girl's orders.
"The fuck." Lucian mumbles out in surprise.
"Did you say something?" Wisteria asked doubtfully.
Lucian smiled, "Nothing, Mom."
Draven narrowed his eyes at Lucian; he had a feeling that he heard Lucian say the 'F' word. Someone under Wisteria enchantment only uses kind and simple words repetitively, like a dummy. They barely say anything new, unless it is triggered by their emotions.
"You have been staring at that snack stand for a while; you are free to go and get what you want, dear."
'Yes!' Lucian had been looking for a way to get closer to Reed.
"Thank you, Mom." Lucian moves away.
"Are you sure that he hasn't recovered his senses again?" Draven stares back at Lucian.
Wisteria scoffs, "It's interesting how you think you have time to worry about others when you should be more worried about yourself. You know what happens to humans no one in the village wants."
Draven clears his throat. He had a feeling that a lot of villagers didn't like him from the way they looked at him. He was better off as a mindless doll than to be cast outside, waiting for death. Draven shook his head at the two options; in order for him not to be a victim of either, he needed to do his job and bring more humans into the dungeon.
Lucian waited for the little girl with Reed to walk away before he came closer to Reed. "Did you follow me here?" He asked, keeping his voice low. "Are you alone? Is Thorin here?"
Reed turned to face Lucian with foggy eyes, but he didn't say a word. There was a noticeable scar at the side of his neck that made Lucian wonder what the little girl did to him.
"Snap out of it," he tried to discreetly shake Reed. "You have been placed under a spell." A part of Lucian's frustrated voice reached Reed, and then it was suddenly blocked off.
Lucian stepped away from Reed when he saw the girl who was with him approaching Reed; she treated Reed as though he was a living toy.
