Since moving into Building 7, A Jin had lived a nomadic life.
Today, the view from his window consisted of dry sand dunes.
Tomorrow, he might find himself in the muggy, humid rainforest.
The day after, perhaps a barren hill or a deserted island with not a blade of grass in sight.
Building 7 liked traveling to different regions. It also avoided areas where the sea lords roamed, mainly opting for remote spots rarely visited by others.
Though it couldn't speak, it knew to wait for A Jin and his group to return before flying off to the next destination.
Once, the White Smoke Mushroom brothers, Bai Yi and Bai Er, didn't return for half a month.
Building 7 quietly remained where it was, waiting for them.
Later, A Jin and Xie Tu found them on the beach near the Dead Sea.
The brothers had been severely injured in a thorny bird attack.
The White Smoke Mushrooms, which produce toxic gas, fought back by releasing a massive amount of poison, driving away the attacking thorny birds and other Guangna Species that tried to approach.
However, with their bodies punctured and torn by the thorny birds, they were unable to move and lay in the mud, like stranded jellyfish.
A Jin and Xie Tu used a trailer to haul them back to Building 7.
Only then did A Jin learn that the White Smoke Mushroom brothers had discovered a new variety of Bitter Root and wanted to collect some to bring back.
Lying weakly on the trailer, Bai Yi said, "A Jin, this new variety is different. Its cooling effect is over 20 times stronger than the ones from Sand Port. We tried lighting it, and the cooling was incredible. Inside the Bitter Root is solid black grease, which is Light Amber."
"We excavated that part of the beach and used the measuring device from Recursive City, but found no signs of a Light Amber Mine underground."
"This indicates it's a characteristic of the species; it can absorb Light Amber. Light Amber's energy level is higher than that of Light Soot, so if we transplant this stuff back, it will make the cooling coal much more effective... We had no idea we would encounter those damned thorny birds. Those cursed creatures attacked us unprovoked and pecked us all over, nearly killing us."
Even in their battered state, they protected the four pieces of Light Amber Bitter Root they had dug up.
While feeding them Light Seeds, A Jin said, "Our Scavenger Team really only has one true fighter, Xie Tu; we're not a combat group. Everyone should prioritize safety and caution."
Building 7 originally housed two groups of office staff.
The first group was the small Scavenger Team unit led by A Jin, including him, Weapon Master Xie Tu, and Bai Yi and Bai Er, totaling four people.
The second group was from the delivery center, led by Wei with a total of three people.
However, with the large-scale application of gliders, the delivery center transformed to utilize air transport services, buying several medium-sized manned gliders converted to cargo planes.
Medium gliders could reach speeds of 70 km/h, faster than the Bone Fish delivery speed of 54 km/h in the Dead Sea.
Although Bone Fish could switch to rocket mode, they were limited to a duration of just 2 hours, rendering them unsuitable for long-distance flights.
Thus, mass-produced gliders became the main vehicles for the delivery center's operations.
Bone Fish deliverymen were exploring transformations under the guidance of director Qian Su.
Because of these changes, Wei was called back to manage the delivery center's cargo planes and routes.
With the chairman's permission, Building 7 was no longer tasked with high-altitude air transport and began freely exploring flights.
Far from the company, many things had to be handled independently.
Bai Yi and Bai Er were not sufficiently aware of the dangers outside, having been born and lived sheltered lives in the Mushroom Forest.
On the other hand, A Jin, who had been roughing it out since childhood, was much more cautious.
After rescuing them, Building 7 took off.
Yet, A Jin felt something was amiss. Building 7 didn't fly very high; it followed the tracks of the trailer to an area of the beach near the Dead Sea and landed directly there.
Soon, a flock of over thirty thorny birds appeared, seemingly considering this territory their own.
They circled close to the skyscraper, seemingly plotting how to drive off and damage it.
Suddenly, houses on the beach surged upwards towards the sky and exploded amidst the thorny birds instantaneously. Scores of thorny birds were obliterated, and chunks of charred debris fell from the sky.
The flock of thorny birds was wiped out in one fell swoop.
A Jin then understood.
Building 7 came to deal with the thorny birds.
Good brother, with a strong sense of loyalty!
This incident also made A Jin realize that Building 7 understood much more than it let on. It just couldn't express itself, and couldn't hear what they were saying.
Even so, Building 7 knew that Bai Yi and Bai Er had been harmed by outside forces, so it took matters into its wings to settle the score.
But it was this very sense of loyalty, its confrontational nature, that later led it into perhaps the biggest trouble it had ever faced.
Half a month ago, Building 7 landed on an uninhabited island and encountered a group of Red Monsters.
These cunning and aggressive creatures, classified as level-C creatures, commenced an attack on Building 7. They used catapults to hurl glass jars, which scorched the building and emitted smoke upon breaking.
It appeared to be some kind of special corrosive substance.
The enemy leader was a giant ape, all black and blurry in form, a mutated Black Soul of the Red Monsters.
Building 7 engaged these local thugs directly.
These monsters were experienced and in a different league compared to the previous thorny birds. Faced with the Flying House Bombardment, they swiftly scattered and fled into the Dead Sea. After the bombardment, they regrouped from all directions to throw more corrosive glass jars.
This continuous attack caused the surface of the skyscraper to start corroding locally, swelling and cracking. Building 7 was riddled with holes, suddenly looking decades older.
