Building 7 angrily flew to chase, but was lured by the Red Monsters into an area full of puddles. Once it landed, its foundation began to crack and fragment.
Later, A Jin learned that the island had been used as a dumping ground for hazardous waste.
The puddles were filled with strong acidic liquids, similar to the mud used by the Red Monsters, which quickly destroyed and dissolved concrete, causing significant damage to Building 7 on a mechanical level.
Building 7 was unable to remedy and self-repair. Because the entire island had been thoroughly contaminated, the more sand and mud it absorbed, the more it would be corroded by the strong acid.
At that time, A Jin smelled the pungent odor, which made him dizzy and nauseous, feeling very ominous.
He kept slapping the walls saying, "Forget it, forget it. Let's retreat, it's not safe here. Don't be contentious while outside."
However, Building 7 could not understand and continued to fiercely fight with the group of monkeys.
During this time, the Black Soul leader also led several sneak attacks. In a Berserk state, its massive fists punched several holes in the surface of Building 7.
A Jin's mood grew heavier.
He had already figured it out.
The enemy was wearing down Building 7. The damage to its body was real, without any supplies, the entire tall building visibly aged and decayed, and the Light Imprint inside became fragile due to structural damage.
If this continued, Building 7 would be exhausted into sleep, and then Red Monsters could do whatever they wanted.
A Jin racked his brains but found no way—these situations were difficult to convey to Building 7.
Bai Yi and Bai Er were also helpless. They only recognized that the outside air contained a large amount of toxins.
The only combat member, Xie Tu, proposed a solution.
"I'll go kill the Black Soul."
"Once it's dead, these Red Monsters will start fighting over the leadership and won't be able to unite. Our crisis will then be resolved."
A Jin quickly shook his head: "No, you are at least one level lower in life grade, you can't win. It has dozens of subordinates, you can't fight them."
"Trust me."
The Weapon Master spoke calmly and resolutely: "The reason Captain Xie Xun sent me here is because, in combat, I am the strongest in the Scavenger Team."
"My intensive training is meant for solving this kind of problem."
"I want to use all the resources available here to cooperate with me."
Listening to the continuous cracking sounds from inside Building 7, A Jin clenched his teeth and said, "Okay, we will cooperate with you."
"First, I want to recruit all 100 explosive mushrooms here."
"Because I can't guarantee carrying them without detonating, Bai Yi and Bai Er, you need to pack them in backpacks and move with me."
Xie Tu donned a black Straw Armor, equipped various weapons on his body, and his eyes were determined: "If I die, don't come out, just wait for rescue. There's food here. I believe the company will find us soon."
A Jin once again suggested, "Then don't go out! Let's just wait here and send out distress signals!"
The Weapon Master shook his head: "I'm a warrior, there's no such warrior who surrenders without fighting."
"Building 7 helps us, we help it."
"I am the Weapon Master appointed by the chairman! I can fight!"
A Jin had many things he wanted to say, but in the end, he could only nod.
After dark, the Red Monsters retreated back to the Dead Sea, while Xie Tu, carrying the White Smoke Mushroom brothers, quietly left the building and merged into the darkness.
The next day.
The Red Monsters launched a new round of attacks.
As usual, with long-range throws of corrosive materials.
They battered Building 7 until it could no longer deploy the Flying House Bombardment. It was left to merely withstand hits, its movement agonizingly slow as if a clumsy monster repeatedly tugged by a group of hunters.
Even so, the Red Monsters remained cautious, merely launching projectiles from a distance and maneuvered nimbly, continuing their attack with potent acid.
As dusk fell, they retreated into the Dead Sea.
The third day, the same.
The fourth day as well.
Only on this day, Building 7 was completely immobile.
A Jin, residing inside, was tremendously anxious. The cessation of indoor lighting and heating indicated severe damage to the Building Life, unable to support even basic indoor functions.
No matter how he used the emergency communication device, he couldn't transmit any signals. There were no Mechanical Stackers nearby to send out signals.
The only thing A Jin could do was to minimize consumption of water and food, preparing for a long stint hidden within the building.
The fifth day.
A new round of attacks left Building 7 riddled with scars, tilted in a precarious angle, ready to collapse at any moment.
Yet even so, the cunning Red Monsters still kept their distance, only attacking from afar, not approaching at all.
As the sun set, they withdrew back to the Dead Sea.
Suddenly, a dazzling intense light shone from within the fog sea, a powerful shockwave accompanied by a booming sound transmitted all the way into the high-rise, causing A Jin's ears to buzz.
Xie Tu and the others have made their move!
Half an hour later, Bai Yi and Bai Er carried the char-blackened Weapon Master back.
Xie Tu was unconscious.
All A Jin could do was frantically feed him Light Seeds.
After a while, Xie Tu slowly regained consciousness: "Mission accomplished... Black Soul is dead..."
He was too weak and immediately fell into a deep sleep again.
Bai Yi then said, "Brother Xie led us all the way to lurk into the Dead Sea. He said, all these glass jars that are nearly identical used by the Red Monsters are items from the Divine Era. This means, their lair must be near the Divine Era Relics."
"So, he led us all the way observing, and indeed, there was an ancient site within the Dead Sea, resembling a factory. There, a large inventory of glass products was stored, and that's where the Red Monsters were."
"After they left, we went in and scoped out the place, discovering they were extremely cautious and even left some behind to guard."
"Brother Xie believed we couldn't set it inside, we had to bury explosive mushrooms on the necessary route outside. We had to wait for their return when their guard was the lowest, the timing had to be perfect, we only had one chance."
"We hid from afar and observed for several days, indeed they all used the same route to leave. Black Soul always led, and outside of the factory was an inevitable pathway."
"Then, as they came out, we picked the time to bury the explosive mushrooms. My hands were trembling so much I could barely handle the mushrooms..."
Bai Yi spoke nervously and excitedly, "When they returned to the Dead Sea, we watched from not far off. Then the 100 explosive mushrooms really exploded! Thankfully, we brought these explosive mushrooms for internal defense, they were so useful!"
"They were caught off-guard, and several were killed on the spot. Brother Xie led us in shouting, representing the Wasteland Development Company, and the rest of the living Red Monsters all fled."
Bai Er added, "But that Black Soul was tough, still running even with half a shoulder blown off. Brother Xie chased after, wielding a spear and a knife dipped in Jumping Snake Poison. Although he killed it, Brother Xie also suffered severe injuries... But because their leader was dead, the other Red Monsters dispersed."
"Brother Xie is truly fierce!"
A Jin listened, his heart surging.
This was truly a thin line between life and death.
With the leader Black Soul killed, the Red Monsters never appeared again.
Several days later.
Building 7 struggled to stand upright, carrying A Jin and the four others as they flew towards Sand Port.
