There are three stages and the first one was filled with traps.
The process of getting through that one straight path was more difficult than fighting a hundred (Level-30) monsters by himself. KiRA was utterly exhausted when he got past the straight path of the first stage.
There were three things that one needed to keep in mind when challenging paths like these: They must be quick with their thought process, they must have the right kind of tools to fend off the incoming attacks, and they must have the right kind of judgement abilities.
"If it were Ziggy, he would challenge the path with his unique style, combining his Aura and movement techniques to get past the path even before the weapons and magic could touch him.
If it were Izzy, she would search for the core of each one of the traps while standing in the starting zone and deactivate everything right from the start. She would then go ahead and take out everything these traps had to offer." KiRA knew she got that last trait from him, but he didn't want to brag about it.
If he could deactivate these traps like her, he would have proffered doing that. The fact that all these arrows, swords, magic and magical items were coming from what seemed to be art structures, obviously made them extraordinary.
These art pieces, be it the paintings or the small clay structures, were something special, and complex as well.
KiRA knew if he sold them on the open market, they would fetch him a good few IX. But that wasn't possible with his current strength.
The items that he was using were of the most common grade and weren't strong enough to withstand these attacks for even a few times, much less defend against the attacks long enough for him to dismantle any of these traps.
He also did not have as good a Mana control as Izzy did. He had {Mana sensitivity}, but that skill only helped him with the perception and not control.
His main energy was also Holy power so that did not help in any way either. Everything in this place was made with Mana cores despite the fact that the ancient civilization was mostly a group of people who used holy power.
"It's pretty strange though." KiRA was in the second stage of the dungeon and the dungeon wasn't perceiving the {Darkness of the Abyss}. If the structure was something the Ancient civilization of Tatar had built then there should have been some kind of reaction as soon as he entered this place.
"Dakness is despised by the Light worshippers. If they made this dungeon their wills should have been a part of this place as well… oh. Could it be that the dungeon and the runes are separate entities entirely?"
KiRA was in a dark place now. There was no message as to what he was supposed to do now that he was in the second stage of the dungeon.
He was pondering over the situation, wondering why there was a dungeon in the first place, as well as why there was no reaction to his darkness skill present here.
There were questions but brooding over these questions would not bring him anything.
If he wanted to get his answers, the simplest thing to do would be to go ahead.
"Haaa…" But he was taking some rest before he moved forward, waiting for any kind of instructions about the next stage. "You shouldn't have gone out like that though. Why did you do that?"
It all started because the little leaf Fay went out of Uni's feathers and made some kind of reaction. Perhaps it was the little one's pure Mana or perhaps it was something else but it triggered the trap mechanisms.
If they had a little more time, KiRA would have been able to figure things out on his own and move past the first stage with a little easier method.
They wouldn't have had to waste as many resources as they did, at the very least.
[{ Master… well… }]
Unity understood what the little one wanted to say so she was the communication medium between them.
[{ This one just got excited after sensing something familiar and fun. It says it didn't mean to cause trouble… }]
KiRA wasn't angry at the little Fay but the creature knew it had caused trouble for them.
When KiRA was running straight for his life, the traps, the arrows, the spells that were targeted at them did not perceive or affect the leaf Fay.
They were only focused on KiRA who had Unity in his pocket all this time. The Fay was watching them from the back all this time and only when the two of them had crossed halfway to the pathway did the Fay join them, remembering it was supposed to be with them.
It had made Unity's feathers its home. And the creature that cherished its current home more than anything else, was obviously not going to leave the house behind for merely something fun and familiar.
[{ It seems like it's sorry but it doesn't want to come out and say it directly. It's worried it will cause more trouble for us. }]
A childish Fay being worried about causing trouble for a Human… KiRA had no idea when he made such an impression on the little one but it was certainly a good thing in his eyes.
"Haaa. I'm not angry so you can tell it it's fine. And it's better that it stays in its house for the time being. However… ask them what kind of familiar or fun thing they had felt back there."
KiRA wanted as many clues about the situation as he could. They didn't know practically anything about this place so knowing more would help them going forward… but perhaps the dungeon did not want that.
[Ding!]
[The (Stage-2) of the dungeon: Temple of Tatar's Lord will now begin. Please be prepared.]
Unlike the last time when they at least had a few moments to process the situation, the dungeon started changing abruptly this time.
The place they were in right now started moving on its own and it seemed like they were being transported to a lower floor.
This was a dungeon and KiRA had his doubts that they were somewhere underground, but this situation made his worries valid.
After being moved to the lower floor, he found himself in a big place this time, with bright magical lights burning on all sides.
This time, the place he had ended up in also had a dome above him, however, unlike the straight path that he previously encountered, this one was an enclosed, spherical space.
Resembling an arena with various cages or what seemed to be gates on all sides, he was most certainly in a place where he would be fighting against something.
The ground beneath his feet was all dry, the ceiling above him was blank but from how the edges of this dome still had some unique patterns around them, it might be possible that the creators of this place had to stop their works midway.
There might have been some kind of situation that prevented them from continuing their work, and this theory sounded more plausible because of the tall pillars that supported this dome.
[Ding!]
[Survive the following waves of opponents to clear the stage.]
[Upcoming wave progress: 0%.]
[Wave progress: 0/6.]
[Time left for the next Wave: 00:20:00.]
The dungeon simply wanted him to survive against the opponents. It did not say that he needed to win against the opponents.
The objective here was survival… which made things more complicated since KiRA could tell the opponents that he was going to face from now on would not be anything simple.
[Ding!]
KiRA turned his wrist guards into swords, prepared his golden threads, as well as lethal poison.
He did not know what kind of opponents were going to appear here so he prepared as much as he could in the few seconds he had.
-Grrrrrr…
The gates on all sides were opening up and KiRA was setting up weapons on the ground— normal weapons like swords and enchanted arrows.
The two swords with the golden strings attached to them were his main weapons, but he wasn't going to rely on just them in this fight…
"Grrrr…"
"Ghhhhh…"
He was already hearing strange voices that sounded somewhat familiar to him. There were glowing eyes in the darkness beyond the metallic gates that were opening up as well.
"Zombies."
[{ Master… they stink! }]
Right before the creatures walked out, the two of them had figured out what these things were. They had a vast experience fighting their kind so spotting any kind of undead creatures was an easy task for them by now.
"Ghhhhhhhh!"
Pale body with wounds that still seemed fresh, tumors present all over their bodies that did not make any sense, a stench one might only find in a rotting corpse, and hands raised to the front that gave them the classic zombie tag…
The opponents were human corpses turned into undead, the zombies that were considered one of the most common kinds of undead creatures that the dark mages could create.
"This one's going to be easy." There were hundreds of opponents before him right now but KiRA wasn't worried.
In fact, there was a smile on his face right now.
He was smirking, a golden, warm energy was now covering his hands.
The zombies that sensed this energy were instinctively triggered, and while some rushed back into the dark hole they had come from, the rest rushed forward at the opponent, foolishly dashing towards their own deaths.
