The Fatebound Monarch

Chapter 113: Raven vs Demon

The Moonveil city was painted in its vibrance by the dim moonlight of the eternal moon, and its dwellers were moving from one place to another. The city was busy as always; however, there was some strangeness within the environment, as if someone or something had dulled the usual fantastism.

At one of the civilian houses within the Moonveil city.

Baron sat in a wooden chamber with his leg on a nearby wooden table… his arms were folded, and he had an annoyed expression as he stared at the masked figure kneeling beside him.

"Say… How long has it been since we came here?" Baron questioned in a flat and indifferent tone, but a hint of annoyance could be felt in it.

The masked figure trembled under Baron's sharp gaze and opened his lips to answer, but the fear of saying something Baron did not like halted any words from coming out…

'I don't want to die! Please!' The masked figure begged inwardly as he lowered his head.

Seeing him act like this, Baron let out a deep sigh and collapsed into his chair as he questioned louder.

"How long has it been?"

The masked figure's body shook under his loud voice, forcing him to answer with quivering lips.

"T-Three days, my lord."

Fear was palpable in the masked figure's eyes.

Baron nodded at his words and took his legs off the table as he spoke.

"Three days…then tell me…"

He moved his head closer to the masked figure and asked furiously.

"Why the fuck haven't you still found Anieal Starborne?"

The masked figure's body froze as he looked at him with eyes that had no hope in them… it was like he had already accepted his death.

"I-I am sorry, My lord."

Baron furrowed his brows and clicked his tongue before turning away.

"Where is the second guy?"

"I-I don't know."

Air within the room suddenly turned heavy as Baron's expression turned furious. He clenched his fists to calm himself… his veins became visible because of the force he was using to clench his fist.

The sound of creaking wood echoed within the room as the wooden floor creaked under his strength… Baron sharply turned towards him and spat furiously.

"What the fuck do you even know?"

The masked figure tried to speak, but Baron cut him off.

"Go find that dumbshit."

"Y-Yes."

The masked figure replied in a stutter as he stood up and walked towards the house's exit with terrified eyes… he soon stepped out of the house and heaved a relieved sigh.

He took a few steps forward while cursing at Baron inwardly.

"Heuk…?!"

The masked figure let out a short groan before his head fell from his body, blood rained out of his neck, and his lifeless body fell with a thud.

A moment later, the sound of hurried steps echoed within the street as hooded figures surrounded the house.

The hooded figures parted as Sarine walked towards the house and knocked on it. A few moments passed, after which the door opened with a low click.

Baron looked at Sarine and heaved a sigh before speaking in a cold voice.

"Have you done the rituals for your death?"

Sarine did not react to his words and continued staring at him with indifference before asking in a flat tone.

"What do you want, demon?"

Baron looked at the other hooded figures surrounding them and spoke with a smirk.

"Do you think you all are enough to catch me?"

His words echoed and fell into the ears of other hooded figures… their eyes turned furious at his disrespectful words; however, Sarine did not allow them to move. She simply raised her hand and looked at Baron as she answered softly.

"Baron Horkeien, Adept rank… High Priest of the crimson moon."

"Oh? You know of me?" he questioned in amusement before folding his arms and adding threateningly.

"Now then… Do you wish to sacrifice yourself for the demon lord's desire?"

His lips widened into a devilish smile as he stared at everyone with bloodlust. His will flared and pressed down on everyone present there… the hooded figure's knees buckled as they tried to face his will,

Sarine grimaced under his tyrannical will until another will clashed against his.

Baron turned back, and his eyes fell on Lavina, who sat in the wooden chair he had been sitting at before.

His expression turned dark as he spoke with a heavy voice.

"Black raven."

Lavina looked at him and gave a slight nod before asking flatly.

"Tell me about Anieal Starborne."

Baron gritted his teeth, and his eyes glowed red before he dashed towards Lavina.

Lavina turned into black lightning to evade his attack and launched a kick at him. Baron simply used his arm to guard himself from the kick.

His body rippled and turned bright silver as it reflected the world upon itself.

"This will take some time…" Lavina muttered before she once again launched herself at him. This time, she had her dagger out… ready to reap his life.

She moved across he room like a ray of light, leaving a crackle of black lightning behind. The wooden walls and floor scorched under her lightning.

Baron also used his trait [Metal Skin] to fight against her to the best of his ability. Both clashed with each other like hungry beasts trying to rip each other's lives.

Lavina's dagger left shallow gashes on his body from which a silver liquid dripped before the gashes regenerated at a visual speed.

On the other hand, Baron didn't have any way to hurt her in her lightning form. Both continued to launch attacks at each other… the wooden floor creaked and splintered under their volley of attacks.

Lavina continued her deadly attacks, and Baron continued to defend himself. Until he found out that she had to turn into her physical form before landing an attack.

His lips stretched into a smirk as he got ready for Lavina to attack, and just as she was about to land an attack on him, he grabbed her hand and yanked her against the wooden walls.

She broke through the walls and turned her body mid-air to land on her feet. Her expression darkened upon seeing the wide grin on Baron's face.

Lavina knew that he had already found out about her weakness, but she didn't know anything about his… she no longer held any advantage in this fight.

Sarine and the other figures from the tower of Night also had grave looks upon seeing that… all of them knew that Baron was the one in control now.

He looked at her and let out a boisterous laugh before dashing towards her with a broad grin. Lavina turned into her lightning form to evade his attack, and just as she did so, Baron simply turned toward the hooded figures standing a couple of meters away.

"You coward!" Lavina shouted as she moved before the hooded figure and blocked Baron's attack.

Baron grabbed her arms and slammed her a few times into the ground before laughing loudly.

Everyone looked at him with fury, but they could only stand there while gritting their teeth.

"Black raven? At the end, you are nothing more than a bird…"

He chuckled at his own words and threw her away. He turned and looked at the hooded figures with a creepy smile as he stepped towards them. Everyone took a step back in fright, and his smile widened at that.

Lavina's face was covered in blood… she looked at his back as he made his way towards the others, she gritted her teeth and stood up.

Looking at her right arm, she mumbled in a low voice.

"I have to use that…"

Her eyes turned sharp as she turned into a raven of black lightning and reached him within the blink of an eye.

Baron turned to attack, but before he could do so, Lavina thrusted her hand like a sword at his heart… Her hand flickered between the physical and lighting state so rapidly that it nearly blurred out of existence. Baron's eyes widened as he spat out a mouthful of blood. He looked at Lavina with a furious expression, but his eyes only met a calm and indifferent look.

Lavina took a step back, and His body fell on the ground with a thud as blood flooded out of the hole at the place of his heart. His eyes dulled as his soul left his body.

She looked at his body for a moment before she suddenly placed a hand on her mouth and coughed blood.

'I still can not use -RavynNoire-?'

She questioned before her vision darkened, and she fell before losing her consciousness.

"My lady!" Serina called out as she ran towards her with a worried look. She sat beside her and looked for any injuries before she picked her up in her arms. She gave a disgusted look at Baron's lifeless body and continued to move in hurried steps.
