The Fatebound Monarch

Chapter 114: Words of Crimson

Somewhere within the continent of the night—Azor.

Within a sparsely lit room, four figures sat around a dark wooden round table with mystical and celestial engravings giving it a mysterious accent. Four similar chairs were placed around it; the only difference among them was their padding.

Damien, who sat in a chair with purple padding, looked at the three figures before him.

At the chair with black padding sat the black regent, Balad Rankin.

At the chair with ghostly white padding sat the phantom regent, Aurkin Sakhnor.

And lastly, at the chair with bright green padding sat the gale regent, Hermin Zesper.

All three of them had their eyes fixed on Damien as Balad questioned.

"What do you think of the words by the crimson moon?"

Damien shifted his gaze towards him and replied flatly.

"I don't remember when we started to consider the words of insects."

Aurkin's expression fell into a frown as he spoke.

"With the staggering increase in the number of dream rifts, we have no choice but to do so."

Damien looked at her, his expression still calm and indifferent; inwardly, he was enraged. He clenched his fists as he remembered the words of that hateful demon.

The four regents sat at the round table as they began their discussion on the impending trouble of the dream rift, but before they could do so, the doors parted widely as a woman walked inside.

She had worn modest clothing and had nothing particularly special about her; however, their attention was not on any of that, instead, it was on the tattoo at her neck.

It was a stylish tribal tattoo that appeared to be like a flame or a leaf with sharp geometric shapes. It was the blood seal of the crimson moon.

Everyone's expressions hardened at that because… the blood seal allowed the saintess to control the body of the marked. So the one before them was not an average, modest woman; no, it was the vessel of the saintess of crimson moon.

The saintess smiled upon seeing their reaction as he began to snicker.

"AH! How I love those expressions on your faces…I wish I were there to see them with my own eyes."

Her smile turned devilish as she let out a hearty laugh. She looked at all of them with a look of amusement until Balad questioned her.

"Why are you here, Zeria Whitekin?"

Zeria's expression turned cold upon hearing her name… she looked at Balad and spat as she answered sharply.

"You dare to say my name? HAHA! Looks like you've forgotten what I did to the last person who did the same…"

She turned and looked at Zesper, whose expression was dark.

Aurkin looked at him before turning towards Zeria and adding in a sharp voice.

"You can satisfy your sadistic desires somewhere else, Zeria."

Hearing her words, Zeria smiled widely.

"Indeed… I've come for a simple thing."

"We, the crimson moon, will help you with the dream rifts. We simply want the star council to find one person for us…"

"Who is that?" Balad asked solemnly.

Zeria looked at Damien and grinned widely. He opened her arms towards him and added in an ecstatic tone.

"Anieal Star-"

However, before she could complete her words, the woman's head fell from her body.

Damien's eyes dimmed as he looked at the body with disgust, and everyone within the room understood who the crimson moon wanted them to find. It was Damien's sister, Anieal Strborne.

Looking at the expressions of others, Damien spat furiously.

"You can try that after you believe that you have lived enough."

He stood up from his chair and fixed his coat before leaving the room through a portal.

—Present

"I do not care."

Damien's words echoed within the room, and others frowned at them…

Everyone within the room knew how Damien was when it came to his family… and now they were asking him about giving his very sister to the demons; however, for them, it was nothing more than a deal.

They could save a lot of lives by giving her to the crimson moon… because manpower was the only barrier against closing the dream rifts.

Even then, they knew that Damien wouldn't agree, and none of them wanted to make him an enemy either… They didn't want what had happened at the Faramas City to repeat, after all.

They could only keep quiet and ignore the words sent to them by Crimson Moon.

Anna stood at the window of her room as she looked at the crowd gathering before the gates of the mayor's mansion.

After the news of Lavina's battle against a high priest of Crimson Moon spread within Moonveil City, everyone began to come to the mayor's mansion to find out about Lavina's condition.

Neo, who sat at the bed with Hanna, who sat a few steps away from him, questioned in a low voice.

"Did they already find out about us?"

"I think so…" Anna replied with a dark look on her face.

The others also had a dark look on their faces because if their assumptions were true, then the crimson already knew they were here and staying here anymore would not only be dangerous for them but also for the civilians of the aquadra.

Hanna looked at Anna and asked.

"What should we do?"

Anna turned to look at both of them and replied with a faint smile.

"We can only wait and see how things progress from here."

Just as she said, a white pigeon entered the room through the open window and sat at the head of the bed. It looked at Neo and Hanna before turning its head towards Anna. It opened its beak, and Yabin's voice came out of its mouth.

"You do not have to worry. I will take care of this."

Hearing Yabin's words, Anna's smile widened as she replied gratefully.

"Thank you, master."

"You just focus on getting stronger… I hope you don't fall unconscious next time, haha!" Yabin added before the white pigeon took flight.

Anna looked at the departing pigeon with a soft, small tugging at her lips. She turned towards the duo and added with wide arms.

"Worry not, you are with me after all."

Neo shook his head at that, and Hanna let out a chuckle before both of them left the room.

Just as the duo left the room, Anna's smile crumbled as her expression turned cold and indifferent.

Her eyes then shifted towards the corner of the room where a sword was placed… It was the same sword she had used to kill the skerletons or… the sword she had used was simply an illusion of this one.

She walked towards the sword and picked it up. Her face was visible within the polished blade of the sword.. She looked at herself in it before mumbling.

"Demon lord…"

That man again… over and over, and no matter what, it's always him or that damned cult of his.

Her eyes turned sharp as her grip on the sword tightened. She gripped it so tightly that her hand had gone pale.

She left out a heavy sigh before throwing the sword at the bed and leaving her room. Her steps were heavy as she made her way towards Lavina's office.

Soon, she reached the door leading to mthe ayor's office, stepping forward, she knocked at it and a few moments later an authoritative voice answered from the other side.

"Come in."

Anna pushed open the door and stepped inside. Just as she did so, her eyes fell on Lavina, who sat in her chair with an indifferent expression.

If one looked at her now, they couldn't even guess that she had just battled against a high priest of the crimson moon.

Lavina raised an eyebrow upon seeing Aeliana and questioned.

"Why have you come to me, Miss Aeliana?"

Anna looked at her for a few moments before answering.

"I've come to confess something."

Hearing her answer, Lavina furrowed her brows and added in displeasure.

"Can it wait?"

Anna gave her a wry smile and shook her head as she replied.

"I don't think it can…"

Lavina heaved a sigh at that and collapsed in her chair as she gestured for her to continue.

"Go on…"

Anna gave her a slight nod and opened her lips to speak, but stopped midway as she added wryly.

"I only want you to know… no one else."

Lavina looked into Anna's eyes before giving a nod and speaking.

"Leave us alone."

A few moments passed, and she added.

"They have left."

Anna nodded at her and began with her words.

"Did the demon come to find someone?"

The room fell silent on her question.

"Why do you think so?" Lavina questioned with a raised eyebrow.

'How does she know…'

"I will have to introduce myself again…" Anna said as she paced a hand on her chest and bowed gracefully as she continued.

"I am Aliena Starborne, the youngest daughter of the Starborne family."
