That day, Hero Roy embarked on a journey toward Merc Town. He wants to see with his own eyes the situation of that place. His decision is solid and no one can change his mind, not even the emperor or his fellow heroes.
It wasn't a decision that spurts out of the moment. He already thought of it a long time ago, that he would embark on a journey to have a good adventure.
Also, he has yet to see some animal-eared people in this world. He could not accept that there was none in this world. Maybe in other countries, there were those kinds of people.
His other reason for leaving the castle was, he didn't want to stay in that palace along with everyone.
Although staying in the castle was a sure way to feed himself and gain riches, it wasn't the type of life he hoped once he transmigrated into another world.
For Roy, what was the use of being a hero if they just waited inside the castle for news and trained all day?
That's boring, isn't it?
For him, he didn't need those training anymore. His ability [Hunger] will make him strong even without training. He just needed to find powerful monsters with powerful abilities to eat and copy their power.
"Right, that's where I should focus," Roy said to himself in a whisper.
"Hero Roy! You are correct. We can cross this lake. The ice is thick and it looks like it won't crumble easily!" A shout from a soldier fellow reached his ears.
Meanwhile, they were next to a large frozen lake.
"That's good. But don't forget to call me Dark Raven from now on, okay?!" Roy replied to him.
"Yes, Dark Raven sir!" The soldier saluted.
The reason why he preferred to be called Dark Raven than Hero Roy when outside the palace, was that he wanted to hide his identity as a hero if he was on a personal journey without the other heroes in tow.
These soldiers with him were the group sent by the emperor to reinforce Lieutenant Davis's party that was waiting in Merc Town.
Dark Raven on the other hand was just escorting them. Once he finished his escort job, he was free to go wherever he wanted to go.
Nonetheless,
If they wanted to reach the first town very quickly they needed to cross this lake because it was the shortest route.
The non-stop pouring of snow caused the lake to freeze, and as the snow accumulated, its surface thickened. So now, the lake has turned into a wide ice floor. Since it had thickened to such an extent, crossing it didn't pose any problem at all.
Although the emperor did not rush them to get there, Hero Roy, I mean Dark Raven, still wanted to get to Merc Town quickly. He wanted to see with his own eyes the destroyed one-third part of the town.
Is it true that there is such a strong person in this place? He wanted to know the answer to this question.
Riding on their Ice Lion mounts, the group crossed the ice floor.
Around this time, inside a pub in Soda Town, Big Mouth was grinding his teeth.
"Dammit!"
Whilst saying that he brought down the cup on the table with a slight force, causing a disturbing *thud* noise.
Everyone inside the pub looked in his direction, but all of them looked away when Big Mouth shot a furious glare at them.
"Pussies… tsk…"
Big Mouth clicked his tongue and then drank the remaining rum inside the cup.
Another thud rang out after that.
"Relax, Mouthy." The person in front of him said that with a smile. "There's nothing we can do about it. We couldn't search the whole area because of the snow and those Snow Hounds were pretty dangerous, you know."
"Mr. Pein is right, Boss Mouth."
Big Mouth sighed.
They tried to follow those masked individuals who went to the Thief Guild, but they suddenly disappeared in the middle of the frozen valley. They tried to search for them, but they still couldn't find them.
Big Mouth could not forgive that bastard for what he did to him.
"Tsk! Forgive me, Pein. We have not even gained anything from following them."
"Ufufu. It's fine, it's fine. I told you, friends are there to help each other. Anyway, if those two showed up again in this area, be sure to tell me, okay? I also could not forgive them for embarrassing my friend."
"Such a thing…" Big Mouth awkwardly rubbed the back of his head. His face was slightly red. "Ahem!" He cleared his throat.
"Of course, we will let you know right away once they appear in this town again."
Pein smiled and nodded at Big Mouth's reply.
After a little exchange of words, he then excused himself. He got out of the pub. Standing outside, he thought to himself whether he would report it to the patriarch or not.
He was the butler of Patriarch Davila's mansion. The patriarch asked him for this mission, to investigate the identity of those people who called themselves the Reanimated Corpse, the suspect for Elder Grenn's disappearance.
Just when he already had a lead, they disappeared in the middle of the frozen valley. If it hadn't been for the snow, he might have been able to catch them and find out if they were truly the people the family was searching for.
"No, I will investigate further."
After saying that, he started walking away.
The next day, Eman and Eina finally arrived at Sunville Village. Aunt Claire greeted them warmly.
"Aunt sorry for the long wait," Eman said his sorry.
"Don't worry, but I honestly miss the two of you, especially you my sweet Eina."
"Aunt Claire! I also miss you very much!" Eina jumped and hugged Aunt Claire very tightly.
The two then hugged each other.
"Did you have fun?" Aunt Claire asked Eina.
"Yes, I have so much fun. Actually Aunt, we have met lots of good people and I gained a little sister and a big sister!"
"Eh? Really? What?"
"Yes!" Eina responded enthusiastically, which put a smile on their faces.
He was glad that Eina had fun during their trip.
Suddenly, he remembered something.
"Uh, right, by the way, aunt, did some people from Smithing Shop arrive here?"
