Chapter 151: Harvey Hero

Harvey Hero

Kurt, Harvey, and the Minotaurs got to the station but the train had already arrived. Some were able to fight back but there was a lot of blood and people on the ground. A firebolt was shot into the three trash bins and the fires lit up.

"I don't think that fuel will last long, and they will put it out," said the goatman. But as he was speaking a flickering of shadow clan members started to be shown. It was like they were there and not there for a moment as the fire's light ebbed.

One of the Minotaur started toward one of the members. But he stopped flickering and a vine of shadow came up from the ground where there was an unblemished one from the fires, and tripped the Minotaur to the ground. The shadows had more powers. Kurt wasn't exactly sure how he was going to fight this mess. Some forms of orange cloud formed behind some of the pillars and in other places. They were still hiding.

One of the trash cans was put out by an enemy and the shadows engulfed in the light went back to being invisible. A flickering sword came at Kurt which was blocked. A bit later the sword flickered again and passed through Kurt's blade. But Lirt was already on another mission and cut the opponent from behind. That was still close though the sudden change in pressure against his sword would cause most people to be flung toward their blade.

Several men came with sticks covered in cloth leaking a liquid. The torches lit up quickly. Most of the shadow clan abandoned the facade of the shadow. And a creature that looked like a nine-foot-tall knight rose from the ground. It was seemingly made of shadows. A shadow golem.

It was clear that without Kurt this would have been a massacre for the Valentine Clan. They didn't have the personnel here. The shadow knight rushed toward swinging its large sword that glowed with a blue power. Kurt put up his sword defensively and they clashed.

The giant swung a few more times at Kurt all dodged or blocked. The last time Kurt was able to find an opening and thrust his sword. But the sword just passed through. Kurt jumped back. What now? Go after the controller but which one was it and where was he?

A sword came at him and Kurt blocked and intuitively stepped to the side and around. The person lost balance and fell. Thud. A beat and movement. Thud. Another beat, another movement, another shadow member down. But the golem remained rampaging. Thud. A beat and swing, shi-va-Kai. An ice slash hit it, but the blade didn't pierce. So magic can work but a wiffle bat isn't going to solve this. Thud. A beat and power grow. Harvey moved and screamed, throwing a flame at the shadow golem taking a hit. Kurt let loose a barrage at the shadow golem giving Harvey an opening to snap at him. Harvey's attacks seemed to work a bit better but he was trying to take a bite out of him and that was not happening.

Harvey shot a quick blast of Fire and Water into the shadow creature, and the water turned to steam and popped inside the body. But that didn't seem to do much either. Harvey stomped around annoyed.

"No fair, no fair," said Harvey, "I hit you, I hit you. Harvey strong, Harvey strong." Harvey was growing increasingly frustrated.

Kurt spanned out in a lie with several illusions, moving in between the fighters. Taking a shot at the surprise of the illusion in front of him. A shadow member tried to fight him, but an illusionary blade technique came at him. Like a hundred sword swings were coming and as soon as he blocked Kurt's hands and blade appeared in one you weren't blocking. A step, a move, a beat, flow state.

Kurt could feel a shadow trying to reach out to him, moving around it. There was no need to slice it; the simple trip up wouldn't be working on him. Kurt's mind was empty but he saw everything. His sword glistened in the air. A swirling water moves around his body ready to block blows.

Thud. A beat, a feeling, a red energy swirling. Thud. A movement, close avoiding a swing from the golem, a tiny sliver of a red line, a piece of the golem removed. Kurt was in a moment when he was ready for a battle like this.

The flow was there, he felt it. He could feel it. The control was coming. A step, a duck. Effortlessly. Harvey started rampaging at the Shadow Golem, breaking the train station a bit. He started to grow a tentacle that was soon to form a fourth head. A set of illusions of Harvey's surrounded the shadow golem.

Kurt walked simply. Dodging a thrust, a step, and the clan members were falling. He knew Harvey would keep it occupied. A step, a swing, and a mad leap into the air. The rhythm of his heart was peaceful, calm, and slow.

Kurt hurdled toward the shadow golem that was taking a swing at Harvey but before it could do anything the lettering of the Elven sword started to glow red and a slice went through the golem's arm his hand and sword fell as they separated and scattered into shadows.

Kurt separated into a blur of illusion coming at the golem from all angles. And one by one they disappeared but before they did a rend sheet of energy came from the forms. And the golem was sliced into pieces and it's formed scattered into the shadows. It was as if Kurt's body moved in multiple directions at once webbed out because of the speed.

"Harvey come on if you keep growing you'll break the roof." Harvey had grown above Kurt's head about ten feet a bit bigger than the golem and that was when his head was at a normal height not up high. His fourth head sprouted out of the tentacle and yelped

After the fall of the golem, the members of the clan started to run into the distance escaping into the shadows. They had won the battle at the station but the station had taken a lot of damage, as well as the train cars.

But there was still a beat. A calm warm feeling in Kurt's chest like he was always missing it.

"Harvey sorry, Harvey did not hit the mean smelly giant man," said Harvey.

"It's okay, you stop it from hurting others."

"Harvey saves people, Harvey hero,"

"Yes you are," said Kurt.
