Kurt had a plan it wasn't as simple as he was saying the travel would be different but it would entail some cooperation. Especially with a stranger. Barney the fae that was quickly placed on the other continent was someone Kurt hadn't really interacted with.
He thought about the best ways and he decided that bringing Harvey might be the best option. The fae all seemed to love his company. And he was always sweet towards them. Kurt hoped to pull this string a bit on Barney. He wasn't sure what to expect. From him. And he was asking what he thought was going to be a lot.
They slipped together to a place deep in the woods, Layla and Kurt and Layla had decided to take an aerial view of the place. And wanted somewhere that wasn't easy to see.
When they appeared in the clearing Barney was there but there were several small animals and a deer around him. He seemed at peace. But the appearance of Harvey spooked the deer and it ran off, Barney turned to a squirrel that ran up to his shoulders, looked at Kurt, then jumped and ran off.
Barney turned and smiled at them, "You must be Lord Kurt, and this must be Harvey."
"Yes," said Kurt.
"Paul told me about you," Barney said, looking at Harvey instead of Kurt.
"You seem to be doing well."
"Yes, I needed a rest but," said Barney, "I'm a little bored here." Barney petted one of Harvey's four heads.
"Ohh," said Kurt smiling.
"Is there something I can help you with, sir?"
"Maybe, how do you feel about your home?"
"It's better than where I was before."
"Would you be willing to move again, maybe a few times before we reach the destination?"
This was the crux of Kurt's plan. The trip was too long but if they could move the well, a little by little. The war could break out before they got there.
"What do you mean?"
"It would be beneficial to us, and there would be many more people."
"To move again?"
"Yes."
"Hmmm," said Barney, "and this would be another one-time deal, I don't want to be moving myself a lot."
"Ohh no shirt stops on the journey," said Kurt, and pulled out a map, "I'm not sure where you think you are but."
Kurt explained his plan to move the well across the continent in three or four trips. And what would happen once they got there?
"I would like it closer to here," said Barney.
"So you can get here?" Said Kurt pointing to a place where you could see the ocean.
"Yes."
"Also I think the higher the elevation the better!"
"Why is that?"
"My magic is more wind-oriented, the peaks give a lot of windy parts."
"With the fire clan?"
"We'll add wind and fire and you usually get a bigger flame. And it's not like I choose them or name."
"So you would be alright with this," said Kurt, "I heard it was fairly uncomfortable."
"I have a few conditions," said Barney.
"And they would be?"
"One, I get to choose the exact location, if I am moving a lot one last time for the perfect spot should be possible."
"That seems doable."
"Two: this keep, I will have authority over."
"Huh?"
"I will take it for you and the princess, but the day-to-day. I should have rulership, under you and Layla of course."
Kurt thought for a second, "That would mean you would have to solve the day-to-day problems as well. It is not all…"
"I understand that."
"Anything else?"
"I will need a guardian and I want to choose whom."
"Okay."
"And I would choose Harvey."
"What?"
"And four: I want to fight."
"Fight?"
"It is obvious you are sending troops from the location. I would lead them at minimum from a command tent. This is one of the reasons I would need a guardian."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, you must have heard what happened to us."
"Yes"
"And I didn't believe it the first time, and I regret it. I want to prove myself. And with Harvey as a guardian, this should become simple. And Paul would be jealous. Which is always fun."
Kurt actually felt good about the plan. Barney was much more willing. And he hadn't much thought of who was going to take over in the end. It was proactive. Even with Harvey becoming a guardian that would make the base on his side. It wouldn't have been his first choice but he may have walked into it. Paul had always taken a liking to Harvey more so than others. And Barney looked serious about it.
The plan was coming together, guide the integration. You would think a simple announcement would be best but Kurt knew you needed a foothold before something like that.
Besides them, having access to Valentine's gate made the current placement of a Barney's a little redundant. And Harvey protecting him while they were living wasn't the worst thing.
"This all seems doable to me," said Kurt.
"Excellent."
"So you are willing?"
"Of course," said Barney. " I want to get back at them as much as the next fairy."
"But all the moving?"
"It wasn't all that bad, and I never thought I'd get to much of any world let alone two. I want to be useful, I couldn't do anything with Jessica. I can do some
Thing now, isn't that what you are saying?"
"She actually seems to be much better. You should visit her."
"Really?"
"She became a priestess of Ishtar though."
"Well good, at least she has something"
This had all gone a little better than Kurt had expected. This made him especially worried about it.
"And we can make Harvey a guardian now," said Barney. "It'll be fun having one, I don't think I would like a human again. Bad taste left over, you understand."
"Harvey," said Kurt, "Do you want this?"
And of course Harvey was agreeable. The process was quick and simple. They went to Barney's well and Harvey and him touched heads, with you man's eyes Kurt could see the well and their powers mixing leaving some inside the red fountain Layla had formed. The fountain looked bolder and brighter.
And it was over in a few moments.
