They had decided to go a little big on the event. Since both Horus and Layla were capable of flight. The idea was a bit simple but grand.
The storm clouds brewing in the distance started to dissipate as they came down from it. Ishtar and several angels, as well as what Kurt assumed to be other gods of Horus's pantheon.
Layla was busy getting a final arrangement of her looks and dress for the occasion. The creation of the actual crown was done by the elves. But beyond that, Horus himself would bless the crown during the ceremony. The crown's design was actually to float above the head, it would give an impression of a halo if not for the peaks in the design.
Marty would have come to get the crown, as Horus would descend with it, this part was Marty's idea during the mock walk-through. It would seem strange to have someone walk up and give it to him after his appearance, to Marty. Marty had seen some other rituals here before. So he had many rewrites, it was going to be in the throne room. But Marty thought it would be too crowded. And there were certain parts about kneeling that he objected to.
His notes were actually greatly appreciated, the explanation by the end seems very appropriate for everyone involved.
Instead of inside the throne room the event would happen above the basin in view of the waterfall. The audience would be upon the canyon's top that surrounded the area. Apparently, the fae and god would surround the basin at water level.. Normally this would be something reserved for the gods only but an exception was made because it was a crowning of the Queen of the Fae.
The crowd had started to gather at the edge of the basin. The gods and fae had started to get into their positions.
The time was about to be upon them. Kurt and all of the guardians of the fae had their positions on the slit above the waterfall, and Layla was to come from there to begin the ceremony. Marty had already left with the crown.
"Nervous?" said Kurt.
"A bit," said Layla, "we haven't actually met Horus yet."
"Well it's about time don't you think? It's kind of a short thing."
They looked over the basin and canyon at the crowd waiting for them. A large white cloud had made its way over the area.
A sound of horns came from the sky's signal to begin. The crowd hushed to witness.
Layla came out from the pillar's slit floating in the air to the center of the basin, and slowly started to descend to almost the water's surface and stopped.
Once she was there a light ray appeared from the cloud above them. And from high in the sky. The God-King Horus descended. The force of just his presence could be felt to your core.
His head was that of a black short-haired dog, but had a dignified formal look all the same. His body was that of a human, or an elf depending on which world you were from. In one hand he held a staff and in the other, the crown was floating above an open face-up palm. Horus had a garment of gold necklaces, along with golden shoulder guards that connected with a grey tunic.
Layla's red hair was flowing in the wind, and made a streak of color in the blue basin of water. She knelt before Horus as he approached the water's surface.
The crown rose above them both, Horus tapped his staff on the water's surface and the entire base became still even with the waterfall flowing. The crown started to glow. Horus took two fingers, from the open palm, to his lips, kissed them, and placed the fingers on the crown. The crown flashed with the blessing laced upon it and settled to a non-glowing appearance soon after. The crown floated back to his open palm again.
The booming voice of Horus spoke, "I, the God-King Horus, hereby bless this crown to recognize this moment." Horus brought down his open palm and the crown floated above Layla's head. "Rise, Layla Queen of the Fae."
Layla rose to her feet and continued to float up, after a while of moving up the rest of the fae danced in a funnel shape with Layla as the tip up and above the basin.
The crowd cheered and roared. It was done. Now fully recognized by all. The fae had a real queen.
"Not much to it really," said Kurt.
"How long can you drag out putting a hat on someone?" said Sara.
"I know a few girls who would take hours just thinking about it, and end up not even wearing one in the end," said Kurt. Arthur and a few others there laughed.
Horus and the other god then floated up to the level Kurt was at. Layla came down to greet him. Then they turned to come toward the slit where all the guardians were. The rest of the gods bowed and disbursed. This signaled the end of the event. There was a lot of food for the audience as an after-party for them.
The two of them would leave together. And by leaving it meant entering the pillar out of the event spectator's view.
Kurt and the others made way for the two to enter, with a wide berth. They all knelt to show their respect. The crowd had demands as well.
Horus had flown almost like a statue. His posture was perfect. If he stood still you might even mistake him for one if not for the overwhelming feeling he was giving off. Then he stepped to the ground and seemed to gain a bit more life to his movements. He still stood very straight and formally still after. Strange for someone who had the head of a dog.
Horus turned towards Kurt, "So you are the other one. You will join us. Privately."
Kurt stood up and started to follow them. He didn't question it this time, who else would have singled him out like that? Through the pillar, Horus was leading, and then came to a place. "You have put something here."
Kurt looked at where Horus was looking, it was the secret entrance to Layla Wells' heart. Basically, no one knew where it actually was except a handful of people.
Of course, he knew he had fought a war with Neptune. Marty had told him that he had been there before. Horus didn't want to just talk; he wanted to see what everyone else couldn't find.
So he led Horus to the new entrance that had been made to the side of the original entrances. And they walked together into the heart of Layla's well.
Layla had explained that destroying the well completely would kill her and damage Kurt as the guardian. Since Layla was the source of the slipping powers she had always been able to restrict access to others.
