Chapter 196: The Power of Gods.

Kurt was staring at the empty hole of a large cliff that was completely shot through, a thousand wyvern dead an instant.

Kurt didn't understand what happened. He was in a moment of clarity during training. And he just knew.

It was effortless.

He had just fired off a massive energy blast, one that made the blasts that took down Bright Flame Castle look small even. This one wouldn't have taken six to take it down. The hole was just there.

The sounds of the wyvern inside the cave stopped, the blast itself was a whisper of a sound.

Was that what the Angel thought he was trying to do? Can Horus do that at will?

Kurt thought about something like that with a sword looking down at its handle, and then he saw he wasn't standing on the ground. It should have been obvious he had been staring at the hole for a while. But as soon as Kurt realized it, he started to fall.

Was he just flying? Like Horus did. Not like Layla there was always a flutter like she was supposed to have wings or something. Solid on nothing.

He landed on the ground.

"Umm Lord Kurt, that wasn't exactly part of the plan.." said Joe.

"What was that?"

"Umm…I'm not sure." They looked up and the whole cliff face was massively changed, partially annihilated. There were still many wyverns in the air. But the constant outpouring had ceased. "It…it…I mean the stories."

"What?"

"The power of the gods. You don't even seem winded after that."

"How many have we tamed?"

"You've been fighting for hours. In some sort of daze, it seemed."

"Hours?"

"Did you not realize? The day is almost over."

"I was just, I don't know."

"Well, Sir Kurt, we can be more than happy with what we have today. I wouldn't have thought we could get that many. But you somehow just took most of their attention. And those periodic bursts when we were starting to go low."

How many times had he done that? He thought back. He was counting but it was coming back fuller for a bit. It wasn't 200 reps it was 200 reps of 200 reps. Or was it more?

Kurt looked up. "They don't seem to be attacking?"

"If I were them I wouldn't be either." Kurt looked across the battlefield and was covered in hundreds if not thousands of dead wyvern."

"I guess we should go then, we got a lot right?"

"Perhaps more than two hundred sir, I don't have a full count yet. Some are not full-grown yet but will be."

"What? That many?"

"Females too, we should actually be fine."

Kurt was not fully aware of how long he had been fighting. Or against how many. He only thought that it was kind of fun. He never felt for a second they would be something to worry about. He was lost in it for a while.

"I don't understand what happened?"

"You seemed to have gone a bit overzealous at the end there."

"Yeah, that part," Kurt looked down at his hands. There was a moment in there he could feel it. The power was just coming out but natural. "I'm not sure what happened?"

"Perhaps we should start going, sir," said Joe. "We can call today a success, and don't worry there was more than enough for the goblins to have enjoyed themselves."

Kurt and Joe leisurely walked back to their camp. It was overrun by wyverns that were tamed.

"We had to set up a few camps, and we have already started heading towards Valentine."

"How long until the last group?"

"Another day," said Joe. "We decided to just slowly move the camp instead of any weird movements. Small flocks at a time. But we should only need another day or so."

"Yes," said Tom, "we flew a few quick to make sure we had a good path. And happened to find a place suitable that is fairly close to Talia, which should make everything easier."

Kurt looked around at the goblins who had all seemed to take their job seriously for the moment. The corralling of the wyverns was on everyone's mind. A group had flown back while Kurt was walking up. Ready to take the next flock on the next trip.

Some of the wyverns had started snapping at each other. And one of the shamans threw a few pieces of meat towards them. That seemed to stop the fighting.

"This will be good," said Hank. "We can line the canyon with them."

Their home would be similar but more elongated down the canyon with a smaller cavern for nests. Wyvern nests are usually a series of nests, wyverns usually don't see each other as enemies nesting together provides cover for everyone.

Several small groups of wyverns kept together. Kurt assumed these were family units, not that he could tell the difference between male and female easily. Their sizes seemed to suggest that grouping. Though some were much more independent-looking.

Throughout the next day, they continued to slowly move their pack of wyverns across the terrain. And made their way to a large clearing where they had gathered them. The massive swarm of wyvern is now under their control.

Kurt had made his way back to Talia's castle. And came to the front door. He came alone with the help of his powers, the wyverns were not too far off.

The dignitaries from Luther and Talia had come to meet him soon after his arrival.

"You're back early," said Talia.

"Yes, thank you, and umm…I'm sorry I never got your name."

"It's Minister Ben, I'm not sure we were properly introduced. Is this good news?"

"I would call our outing a success."

"So we should be expecting several to come our way?"

"Have you spoken to Lord Darien?"

"Not yet," said Ben, "but having an idea of what we are talking about."

"I would think twenty or so, we can ensure they have some mating pairs. But you'll have to arrange a place for them."

"We have been discussing some options, either on the edges or throughout. It will of course depend on Darien."

After a few more comments Kurt had been able to get close enough to Talia well enough to slip to Wellspring and get Layla. He had kept the exact extent of their population of wyverns unclear to everyone.

After another trip back to where the wyvern were resting. Layla had been able to open a gate large enough to take the flock in a few minutes.

From there they gave Helmsbrig fifty wyvern to stay there and took the remaining back to Wellspring. It was more than Helmbrig was expecting so the goblins there immediately started working to increase the capacity for them.

The canyon along the river was large enough to accommodate the rest of the flock. Since they were going to be staying there more permanently. The wyverns seemed to enjoy the readily available clean water from the river. He'd have to get used to seeing them flying around now.
