Chapter 201: Pushed Back

The training and migration of the wyvern was going well; most of the forty wyvern had made it over. They had sent two of the family with pregnant females. Those would wait for saddles at a later time as the elves and goblins were producing them.

Talia came rushing to Kurt's house one day and told him the shadow had pushed right where they basically wanted them, too.

"The only complication is they have a shadow creature in the push," said Talia.

They were ready for it.

60 wyvern left through Valentine's Gate, 40 with goblin riders, and twenty with Valentine riders. And made a route toward the side they wanted to attack and break through. Talia had come with that attack plan.

They weren't going to have too much time to set it up but the people on the grounds knew the plan if they saw it start.

Kurt and Layla then led a group of forty more wyvern from Helmbrig Castle. They were about to see if their planning was going to pay off.

They flew through the air towards their destination. Run behind their advance and crush it from behind.

They saw a large force below them. And Kurt made a signal to two squads of wyvern riders.

They dove towards them. A few spit water balls, some seed shots, others flame bolts, they made a pass and each of the smaller groups had a large flame or poison breath that poured over the battlefield.

They made a few passes and then broke off the attack. That wasn't the main opponent but those forces wouldn't be making fast moves anymore. They then sped up to catch up with Kurt and the rest.

After some more flights, they managed to land on a roadway at a part where there was zero traffic. Layla came down and created a gate. Valentine was ready with some battalions to come out.

Kurt then led some of the wyvern to a line on the battlefield. And let loose their flames and powers.

But soon a creature appeared from the shadows. Its eyes are a part of them. It had managed to create a flying form itself.

It wasn't a man but one of the shadows itself. It had taken the form of one of the wyvern shadows and started a counterattack.

The shadow was much more prepared for a fight in the sky's being able to change forms and grasp onto a rider and wyvern.

Kurt would have to get down and fight it directly somehow.

Behind him started a charge of Minotaurs and goblins in rams. Not everyone had a flying mount yet. And a ground assault is another thing. Their push was working however. The gap from the troop advancing allowed them to slip in behind.

Kurt jumped down from Rico. Who continued to fly with some of the rest of the pack. And faced the shadow Demon.

"We met again."

"Not going to run this time?" said Kurt. It must have been the only shadow creature he's ever met. The one from Valentine's Gate is being breached.

"Why should I? You're alone. What can you do to me?"

Unlike the shadow clan members, shadow creatures had nothing to reveal. They were a supernatural entity of shadow. They are difficult to damage at all and the main resource his team had wasn't around.

Kurt wasn't about to give up his wyverns and would be able to handle their push. He made a dash with his sword and rushed at the shadow creature. The sword simply passed through him, and he was about to take a strike but blink back to an illusionary copy he had left behind standing. And swung again with a slash behind it, shi-va-Kai.

The shadow creature separated and then immediately came back together and made a swipe that hit and cut Kurt.

He wasn't getting anywhere, even if we were more skilled.

"Some new tricks? I can play those games." The shadow melted into a shadow on the ground. And appeared next to him making a swift punch to Kurt gut.

Kurt still came in the shadow, somewhat forcing him to move around. Splitting into illusions.

Even using his red swipes he couldn't seem to land a hit. And he could move so fast. Kurt made a leap back away using his boot to get a considerable distance.

But by the time he landed the creature had appeared from a shadow nearby.

Kurt could see in the skies at least he was diverting the creatures attention from their attack.

But who was going to save him this time? And would one or two fires be enough for him?

Kurt clutched his side where he had been hit before. It hurt.

"You know I can go on and on and on," said the shadow creature.

"What do you even want? Surely it can't be to conquer the continent."

"Why not? Who is to stop us, you?"

"It just seems like you are following orders to me, not ruling."

"Why's that?"

"The shadow clan."

The creature laughs, "who do you think runs the shadow clan?"

"Umm," said Kurt.

"We are not little fae," said the creature.

The creature then rushed as Kurt made swipes with claws he created from his shadow form. He was able to block one or two of them with his sword but it wasn't helping very much.

Kurt made another retreat from his position and the creature instantly followed him. He must know once he was gone the rest of the force would fall quickly. Or he just managed to have pissed it off enough somehow.

He stood staring at the creature as he came down from his jump. Not very far from him.

His hands and arms were trembling.

Nothing he had tried was working.

The sword twitched in his hands.

And that's when he realized it.

He was shaking at all facing the shadow, there wasn't any fear. Why would he be shaking?

It was because he wasn't shaking at all.

The sword vibrated erratically in his hands.
