Kurt woke up almost like any other day, except today he was going to marry one of the most beautiful women he had ever met in his life. Even though they were partially a political marriage even sometimes they hit.
He had gotten a tailored tux. He was greeted in the morning by Jacob rather than the usual Betsy. Jacob was serving as his best man.
He was taking Jerry, Hank, Tom, and Joe as his groomsmen.
He then greeted his parents. Who had been introduced to several other people.
"Well," said Mindy. "Look at you so handsome."
The ceremony would be quick, Kurt never understood why it was such a big deal to say a few words really.
Layla would be officiating. Normally it would have been a discussion between her and King Luther. But since Talia's father had died. She had asked him to take his place. And waking the bride and then officiating is not very common at all.
The wedding had no issues. Countess Talka was escorted with the sounds of the eleven harps. The white dress is pure and beautiful. She had been given a traditional veil of the elves which seemed to cover her face in some mysterious way.
The traditional vows were spoken. Layla had taken a fabric made by Talia over their arms.
The fabric represented an old story of two lovers that had held their bond, and arms, together through the flames of the underworld to prove their love before god their arms burned but parts touching remained unburnt proving their love was unscathed.
Layla then loosely wove the fabric around their left arms which held each other near each other's elbow.
Kurt was looking into Talia's eyes looking back into his.
Layla turned and got a candle from a small table behind her.
"And with this flame, your hearts are sealed."
Layla lit the fabric which set on fire extremely quickly. And disappeared. It was hot but tickled a bit because it was more of a flash than a burn.
The fabric, which was more like a finely woven lace, was made of special material that didn't actually burn the participants though some would use a traditional material, acting more like a quick fuse than a flash that made distinguishing matching markings.
And the deed was done. They were now married.
What they don't tell you about weddings is that most of your time is sitting at a table at the receptions talking to everyone coming up to you. Saying the same congratulations lines.
Kurt couldn't complain though. Talia was glowing with all her excitement. She seemed to never stop smiling. The little traditions, cakes, and dances. Kurt didn't understand all the fuss but if it made her happy he wasn't going to stop it.
It was exhausting though, every lord and lady from every delegation that they had invited on the political side of the marriage wanted to go on and on. Kurt had no idea how Talia even remembered all their names.
Ishtar had walked up in a line, "ohh it's you two."
"Who else would it be?" said Kurt.
"Well everyone was so excited I thought it was something delicious," said Ishtar.
Talia had handed her a white chocolate treat she had been given as a gift from one of the guests Kurt could remember.
"The ones here are strange, they don't seem to understand who I am."
"No," said Kurt, "why would they?"
Ishtar's appearance was humanoid but not human, she had an elongated head that shot out past her back.
"Your kind really don't feel it."
"Nope," said Kurt, "but I know what you're talking about. There is a presence around you."
"Yes."
"If anyone is being…."
"It's actually kind of enjoyable," said Ishtar, "not to be instantly seen as what I am. People never relax around me, other than the other gods.l and even that's rare."
"But if you have trouble please let one of my people know," said Kurt.
"You think anything here can harm me?"
"I am more worried about them incurring your wrath."
Ishtar took another candy from Talia's plate smile, and went her way. This was grumbled upon by many watchers taking from the bride plate…if anything was rude it would be that.
"She doesn't seem to understand any of this," Talia whispered to Kurt.
"No, but at least she's not insulted."
The next guest came up for their congratulations speech. And a gift. Then another.
The occasion was filled with nobles from two continents so there was some tension.
It was a bigger affair than Kurt had ever expected a wedding he would be at, let alone be the groom for.
Talia was the prize though, he knew that. Her curves and body were nothing to laugh at, more like drool at, she had this power in her eyes that would glimmer when she used it. Glow when she goes full on.
Kurt wasn't the Playboy before this. If Talia weren't a countess and just some farmer girl, she would have been a treasure all the same.
She was smart and good at motivating people to her side. She understood how to operate on the level of rulers, something Kurt lacked.
She was playful in battle. That was the time she was the most sexy and the scariest to Kurt. She actually enjoyed it and had fun with it.
He had never seen her cook or clean anything though. So perfection is always just out of reach, you have to focus on the benefits that Kurt's eyes did to Talia's body. And it's not like she had never taken a few liberties when he exercised, most of the time somehow without a shirt when she was around.
But they were rich enough that none of that would matter. And Kurt knew how to cook enough in a pinch.
The night continued for hours. Everyone wanted to get a few words here and there.
Layla eventually came up.
"So, did I do a good job? I've never seen a human wedding before."
"You did great," said Talia. It's about and I hope that they were.
Eventually, the day had died down and Kurt and Talia had made their way over the basin to watch the sunset. Several other people had done the same before and after.
The day was done. The night was about to begin.
Talia whispered something into Kurt's ear. And he turned quickly and smiled.
He stood up and smiled and grabbed her hand.
They made their way up the pillar to Kurt's house.
To the bedroom.
Kurt's hands were upon Talia. In an embrace. Kissing. Clothes are being removed.
She was thrown on the bed. She smiled back.
"You know we are both sort of superhuman."
Talia and Kurt were not seen the next day. Betsy had come to the door and knocked a few times in the morning.
There wasn't an answer given.
