Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 103: Shadow Hunter

4 months later

"3 clawed devil mole."

Atop a hill, looking downwards, the figure of a young man wearing a dark cloak could be observed with a light black booklet in his hand.

'The 3 clawed devil mole is a beast in the earth domain, under the species family terraos. They specialize in digging holes for survival and clawing out the intestines of their prey. Their claws are good material for blades.'

The content in the booklet was a detailed description of the creatures they were recommended to capture as they bore striking resemblance to those on the planet they would be going to.

Their mission was not a straightforward one in the truest sense.

According to what Enzo had heard from Master White, they had bought the rights to a planet in the middle of nowhere, serving as an entry point to a lost super world.

Unfortunately, despite all the efforts of the Federation and Weavetech, they had not been able to beat back corruption on the planet, so they had decided to give up on it.

A place that even the Federation didn't want was not a joke. The institute had to go the extra step to conquer that world, strategic strikes in beast strongholds with teams specialized in killing specific monster types, a coordinated attack formation seizing ground before holding it.

There was so much to do for just the chance of success.

It was no doubt that people would undoubtedly die in this battle, as such, everyone needed to be prepared.

"Force the enemy to hide, then forcefully flush them out," Enzo read, a smile on his face.

The past few months had been spent learning different hunting techniques, not just from Master Seth but also from himself.

Turns out that his shadow-based techniques were best suited for hunting, as was stated by the void coffin. Only… he wasn't sure what exactly he was meant to hunt ultimately.

"Okay, let's do this."

Without a second thought, Enzo phased through his shadow and appeared far into the distance, appearing a few meters behind a black mole creature with three long and extended claws.

In his left hand, Enzo summoned a dark green medallion with the description.

[posion tailsman]

[corrupted]

[gotten from a quasi demon, this echo will randomly target a vital organ of any creature other than the host in a 10 meter radius. The longer the exposure lasts, the more deadly the poison becomes]

This was the echo Enzo had gotten from killing the offspring of Mother Venom Milk. A very lethal echo, to say the least. It was the worst kind of thing to face off with.

As Enzo approached the creature, he activated the echo, sending a wave of toxic energy through the air, pulsing rapidly.

"Typically takes 30 seconds to down a Great Beast (Warrior)," Enzo muttered, seeing the creature lock eyes with him as he pulled out his rusty sword.

Woosh

Just as it lunged forward, Enzo struck out, tearing open its left shoulder with his sword. After that, he struck it directly at its left side, causing it to whimper.

Not long after he started hunting, Enzo had entered Stage Three of Star Weaver, making him the fastest of the first years to reach this stage.

His strength was multiplied, and with that, his confidence.

As two bones cracked, the creature whimpered, its lungs crying for help as it rushed away, throwing itself into a hole for security.

"Hehe, if only you could run away that easily." Enzo shook his head and threw a tear gas canister into the hole, sending out a nefarious gas. Suddenly, all the creatures around and inside the holes started rushing out, moving around in panic.

"Good." As Enzo saw this, he smiled and summoned a cloud of shadows, sending spikes out and impaling as many creatures as he could in a short period.

'That should be enough to piss it off.'

Seeing the corpses that remained, Enzo sighed, forcing dozens of red scales to swarm and wrap around his two arms, forming gauntlets.

He naturally didn't come here to fight a Great Beast or Terror; he liked to assume that he had already passed that.

"Roar!!!"

What he wanted to hunt now was a Great Terror. Only that could be seen as an achievement.

Seconds later, a black mole about 7 foot tall appeared from within one of the holes with his gas canister in its mouth.

It was pissed.

"Let's do it."

Despite Enzo's recklessness, however, he wasn't stupid. Without a second thought, he summoned the 8 ft tall pitch-black obsidian knight, allowing her to wave her sword in the air as a sort of greeting.

Enzo had gotten rather fond of this guardian, and its taunting antics seemed to mimic Victoria's unbridled arrogance.

Enzo had even begun to refer to it as Vicky the Slayer.

Smiling coyly, Enzo gave the command with a mental note to Vicky, causing her to immediately rush for the mole.

'Bang!!'

The two clashed, both standing their ground.

Vicky got strong at the same pace as Enzo, always staying one realm ahead. So its previous status as Exalted was currently at Stage Three.

One step away from Sanctified Weaver.

"Hmp!!" Enzo dashed forward, moving through a shadow and appearing beside the creature. The first thing Enzo went for was the eyes. His sword slashed directly into them while it was distracted.

But the creature was able to dodge it easily by pushing its body forward and allowing Enzo to drill into its ear bone.

Great Terrors didn't have intellect, but they had serious battle awareness. Killing one wasn't as easy as killing a roadside beast.

Before Enzo knew it, his sword was stuck inside the creature, refusing to be pulled out.

Without thinking twice, Enzo let go of it, falling to the ground and disappearing into a shadow.

With everything already in play, Enzo didn't dare get caught by a Great Terror. That was a death wish.

Besides…

The poison talisman was already activated. Even if he couldn't kill it right now, it would eventually die of poison.

Of course, this was just a precautionary measure. What Enzo really wanted to do was kill the creature with his bare hands.
