Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 110: Rune city

"He's talented" at the top of a peak two miles away from the town, two cloaked figures and one with long hair reaching his back stood looking down at a scene infront.

They had picked a prey a sand worm about a mile back and with Enzo pursued it all the way here. During this period Enzo had shown profround tracking skills, following a creature that could competely disappear underground for a mile straight.

It was worth noting.

"However his fighting method is too barbaric, he's putting himself in too much risk and not striking at the appropriate times, this is not suitable for an assassin type" one of the cloaked men reiterated.

All organizations were strict in who they hired and placed on missions, they had ideologies and values they liked to keep. Enzo's lack of precision in killing wasn't a disqualifying factor but it was something to look at.

"He's still in his first year, he hand learn to be more lethal" Savage wolf smirked bitterly.

These two were fools!! If it were him he would take Enzo in a heart beat, who cares about sharp killing blows? As long as the creature was dead. Who cares about precision? As long as he wasn't injured. They were always so difficult these organizations.

"Yes, that's the only reason we will still pay attention to him. Hopefully his fighting method changes." The cloaked man nodded then turned away to seemingly fade out of existence.

Those two were sanctified weavers.

"Hey, that was a good kill huh? Kid?" Titus walked to Enzo pulling out his diagonal blade from the sand worms head.

"I should be asking you that senior Titus" Enzo smirked bitterly. Titus had stolen his kill once again. You would think since this was a scouting opportunity that this shameless guy would cut him some slack…

"Hehe, Take this as a gift then" Titus laughed bitterly then tossed a long connected chain towards Enzo.

[You have received an echo]

[Endless chain]

[Rank: corrupted]

[Decription: just like the endless desert, this chain can stretch as far as the eye can see. But only as far as the eye can see.]

"Hmm" smiling Enzo read the description with a look of intrigue. It was the equivalent of an echo from a Terror. And what they just killed was a great terror, so it wasn't from the sand worm however this chain was a great addition to Enzo's hunting set.

It seemed to have elongation as a feature and was very sturdy. With some practice this would help him a lot.

'Maybe he's not that unreasonable'

Enzo thought in his mind for a breif moment before shaking his head vehemently.

"They left" suddenly savage swords voice resounded as he pulled towards the two beside the massive sand worm corspe

"They said they will observe you some more, something about your fighting style being chaotic" Savage wolf added a serious smile on his face as he went over to pat Enzo on the shoulder.

"Ohh" Enzo nodded, whether this was a silent letdown or something else, he didn't know. And frankly he didn't care, there was still so much to be done on Galafray that he couldn't really be bothered by scouts and their endless requirements.

"As usual I take all bodily spoils?" Enzo turned to Titus and asked.

The only reason this partnership worked this long was simply because of that. He still got a few benefits, I e materials from each beast kill which he was prepared to sell to HQ when he was ready.

"Sure man" Titus smiled as if this was a fair distribution.

"We just got waved, reinforcements have arrived" from inside the town hall, a message went out into everyone's coms indicating and announcing the arrival of reinforcements.

Over the horizon a troop of six humvees strode into the towns perifries they didn't make a noise only slowly making their way forward until.

"Bang"

A soft spoken yet resounding voice echoed throughout the area.

In the sky, a man in all black raised what seemed to be a six barreled revolver to the sky and shot out sending six shots of light that came spiraling into the town all at once.

In that moment the bullets of pure light began striking at precise targets killing them one after the other in quick succession.

Before they knew it

Screams of unending terror resounded in the town as creatures after creatures dropped dead.

"Master black" seated atop the cathedral Enzo noticed who this was and beamed. Not that he was excited to see the man but simply because if black was here

Then…

"Hello Enzo"

A figure of white light appeared before Enzo a massive smile on his face and a loook of pride.

He had been gone for the better half of the year and had only made it back to the institute just before the invasion plan.

'Hmm, he feels different, plus this isn't an avatar'

Enzo thought to himself sizing up master white as he slowly floated to the entrance of the cathedral and stretched his hand out to rough up Enzo's head.

"You've grown stronger, stage three in such a short period. Are you trying to catch up with me?" Master white said a laugh in his tone.

Enzo had indeed become strong, much stronger than he was when they first met. In fact he could tell that the boy was already nearing the stage where he could embark on his second voyage.

Time really does fly.

After clearing the town in full, the reinforcement force of settled down and convened a breif council where everyone was to attend and the topic was….

Rune city

"Brother Darth, firstly, we would like to seek your forgiveness once again for our lack of understanding the general situations of rune city before sending you there"

Around a round table, Master Seth stood with master white and black behind him.

Lios and Darth were both class mates of white and black so one could understand how bad everyone was still today.

Lio's death had taken a toll on all of them.

"Also forgive us as we will still rely on you heavily for what is to come" he added looking straight forward at Darth veiled in shadows.

"Tell us what you met in rune city"

From their own analysis, rune city was a commercial city that trades mainly on what they assumed to be artificial echoes of the old world.

This was what their drones told them

But drones were in their esssence just that, lifeless beings that would typically not arouse a stirr from the 'residents' of rune city.

When the living scouts appeared at the end they were met with quite a different sight.

The moment they stepped foot in the outer layers of the city, a myriad of flying monsters rose from the west and pushed towards them in full force.

Even the cloaked shades, a troop that specialized in escaping such situations were crowded in seconds, consuming them in seconds.

They were lucky to find quick shelter from the storm allowing them to stay in the city for three days. If not for that they would all be dead.

Within those three days, they were able to scout as much as they could before being ultimately forced to leave.

But on their last stretch something terrifying came up to face them.
