Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 111: Tyrants

As the sun rose over the town a set of vehicles left under dust clouds they rode into the barren wasteland.

They had successfully cleared the town, and named it Eyewatch, an outpost right outside of rune city. In the future this place would be rather important so they had left some people back there to watch over.

However they couldn't let it distract them from their actual goal which was without a doubt rune city.

Picking the best of the best amongst them, they straightforwardly set out for rune city.

A cycle later they appeared in the perifrries of a dead city half submerged into the sand.

"That's the place?" Enzo blurred out looking at rune city from a hill where they had all set up camp.

This scene was starkly different from the memories he had of Galafray. This place was one a barren wasteland with prison castles scattered around it and the only form of structure in the entire place.

But from that, it seemed like cities of vibrant colors and beauty had risen. Victoria had done a really good job of renovating this place.

"The calibrations are okay yes?" One of the men of the cloaked shades asked looking at what seemed to be a mortar being set up.

Rune city was very important to the institute, if not they wouldn't be caught dead near this godforsakened place ever again.

But they simply had no choice.

"It's ready, just waiting for the commanded from master Seth" an institution instructor with white hair smiled bitterly as he looked this cloaked shade member.

They were clearly still grieving but couldn't say anything in protest.

"Snowfall, haha your house is always so funny" the young man suddenly burst out laughing looking at the insignia on the mortars shell.

While this scene was unfolding, master Seth could only smile bitterly while looking into the city with his binoculars.

Right now he couldn't see much activity around the city, but he was sure that they were things around, they were just hiding.

"Darth, are you in position?" Over the coms master Seth's voice resounded.

"Yes sir, permission to go crazy?" Darth asked

He was currently in the middle of Rune city his cloak covering him in the darkness.

"Permission granted" Mastet Seth gave the go ahead and suddeny Darth spread out his cloaked reveale the twin ends shaking his jung in the air.

The swarm had previously attacked them the moment someone went out to pee. This made them believe taunting the creature would be effective.

Actually scratch that, master Seth and the rest actually didn't believe this. But Darth had sworn that it would definitely work. And since a majority of what they knew actually came from him, they could only follow his instructions.

"Ahh, he's really flamboyant that one" Zeke commented standing next to Enzo who was currently covering ravens eyes.

Darth, for someone that was always veiled in darkness, a leader of assassins, he was a bit too colorful.

As Darths voice blanketed the sky with curses and insults they could only cover their faces in embarrassment.

But soon, it paid off.

Suddenly from out of nowhere, what seemed to be a swarm of bats like creature rose from a tall building, rushing downward at a frightening speed.

Individually, these things weren't as strong as one would expect, the most common being at the warrior rank, In fact the vast majority of them were just like that.

But faced against one warrior and a thousand was in no way the same. It was vastly different.

As for this swarm, as it drew closer to Darth its numbers increased from other nests that came to join from all corners bringing its number to a staggering 25,000.

"This…" Everyones eyes widened at the sight of this a look a shock on their faces as the creatures seemed to block the sky.

"Fire!!" Master Seth suddenly said breaking the stunned expression from the face of the white haired instructor.

He quickly calibrated the mortar in his hand and loaded it up with a football sized shell.

Watching this happen everyone seemed to smile bitterly not knowing what exactly this thing could do to help Darth who was currently running for his life from a group of 25,000.

This was madness

However as the shell went flying they all followed its fast trajectory as it seemed to split the sky. When it landed.

Kabooom!!

A earth shattering explosion resounded, following which a white burning chemical latched onto the skins of the flying bats, causing them to crash into one another.

"That's…." Zeke frowned a bit then shook his head. Humanity had long since created ungodly weapons all over the galaxy, but none were as brutal till date as those made on earth during the doom war.

Lost technology they said, never again they said, but there they were using something more advanced. However what could he say? At least it wasn't being used against him or people….not yet.

Meanwhile, Enzo who didn't know a lot about this particular method couldn't help but admire whilst deliberating its usage in future battles.

It was very effective from his view of it.

"That's that for this mortar" The white haired instructor took a step back from the black mortar he had fired from as it slowly melted from a white substance.

They had truly overfilled that bomb to get the best possible outcome in one strike. That was what they could afford to do.

"It's just equipment, let's prepare to move in" master Seth said as he watched the group of flying monsterousities fall to the ground like flies.

Inkous wanted this city very bad.

15 minutes later the three humvees rolled into rune city a ruined city with broken roaded an Medival building structures spanning far and wide.

"Any sign of the tyrant?" Seth asked seated atop one of the humvees as he watched around the roads. The moment they slaughtered the swarm, he was expecting the tyrant to rear its head so he could cut it down.

Unfortunately, even till now there was nothing from it.

"It's a tyrant, fair to say it has some smarts" Master black commented from the drivers sit smiling. Who knew that walking into rune city would be so relaxing and calm.

Fear really was an effective crowd control tool.

However, his jolly was quickly outlived as a beast appeared to walk past the street in a leisure manner, its legs striding with majesty.

It was only when it saw the humvees that it's stopped and looked over.

"Haaaaaa" the creature looked like a horse, its skin blue and a hint of red dyed its iris.

His bellowed, an unnatural sound resounded from its throat causing everyone to pause in a mixture of fear and bewilderment.

"That's the tyrant" Darth commented a grim look on his face. He hated this beast with all his life, that god forsaken thing, it had killed Lios!!.

"It's not just a tyrant I'm afraid" Master Seth suddenly grimaced as he turned to master black and white.

He had a feeling this would be the case, a city as large as this, being protected by a single tyrant was not optimal.

"So you brought friend haaaa, you like watching your friends haaa, must be a what gets you off" the creature suddenly sounded in a rather human tone.

'As expected, it's a Deamon'

Enzo thought to himself summoning his scale guard to protect himself.

Deamons were a completely different ball game from normal creatures, these things not only had super intelligence they were kings and queens amongst beasts.

"You guys, seize the fort objective and create defenses around yourselves. No matter what happens don't join this battle" master Seth said to all those around as himself, master white, master black, and the white haired instructor stepped forward.

Overkill

That was the word inkous had used when telling him to gather a force to take rune city. So he didn't just that.

"Wooo"

Suddenly a transformation happened in all four individuals standing on the streets as they changed into the avater forms.

This was something only high ranking weavers were able to achieve, the ability to appear as once's real self and change into the avater at will.

It also signaled one thing

Everyone in this line up was equivalent to a tyrant!!

"Hey, let's get going. We can't get stuck in this kind of exchange" one of the cloaked shade members becon them forward as the humvees left that street and went to the far side of the city at full speed.

Seconds later a myriad of sky sundering blasts resounded in the air forcing them to look back as they noticed several figures in the hair exchanging blows.

"That's a battle on the tyrant level? This…" one of them frown looking shocked at the scene.

These people were truly the epitome of strength in the modern world.

They were the closet things they had gods on earth.
