Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 113: Moving city

"Ravens cooking skills have really improved" Munching down on a meaty stew, master white commented his gaze panning around the top building.

The constant fights had really taken a toll on all of them, leaving them exhausted. If they didn't go out to find and fight a tyrant everyday, they would come find them.

It was like a subtle way of telling them to leave rune city. But how could they leave the students here with all these creatures? It would be beyond irresponsible.

"Yeah, we all pitched in after what happened last week" Enzo commented seated behind master white with a smile on his face.

"Hehe, it's okay. The institute doesn't really have a culinary class" master white laughed seeing the embarrassment on Enzo's face.

Soon after, he finished his meal and conjured single hand held crossbow and drew it back.

"I was planning to give this to you when I got it, but its skipped my mind." Master white smiled handing over the echo to Enzo.

[Echo transfer request activated, would you like to receive this echo?].

A notification rang in enzos ear as he observed the echo infront of him.

It was steel plated with a long canister of arrows attached to it, it didn't look Modern but seemed to function like a gun.

[You have received an Echo]

[Shock crossbow]

[Rank: Profane]

[Description: this bow is born from mechanical coward, always running away from its problems. But don't be fooled, fear is only a tactic, it will shock you]

"This…" Enzo was taken aback surprise written all over his face.

This was an echo gotten from a tyrant, it was the first he had gotten since in first voyage.

"Was this from the tyrant from a week ago?" Enzo asked.

While the Holy weavers fought against the tyrants that came looking for them, one in particular would frequently stick his head out from a far distance and shoot out massive arrows distracting them or sometimes even nearly killing them.

Because of this, master seth had sought the help of cloaked shade and some students to help draw the attention of the things so the holy weavers could swoop in and kill it.

It was naturally a success, and this was the fruits of that labour.

"You found it, and I killed it, the decision on who would get it wasn't that hard" Master White smiled as he watched Enzo checking out his new asset.

This weapon would make anyone of his generation jealous, even his brother black wanted it. Good thing he wouldn't pry it from the hands of a kid.

"Thank you master white" Enzo sat up straight and bowed his head nearly touching the ground.

Master White was his benefactor, his teacher, and most of all. A mentor.

He didn't quite know how to repay this man for all he did for him.

"Its okay kid, you guys are the future of the institute. Its our duty to invest in you." Master White nodded seeing enzos sincerity. The young man was well behaved and had been so ever since he met him..

" you should head back right about now, the 6th Sun is about to set. Remember not to come out after the 7th" Master White looked to the sky and muttered.

This moving City became incredibly dangerous whenever the sun sets, more so when the 7th sun went down as that indicated true night.

"Got it" Enzo nodded a bitter look on his face as he faded through his very shadow and appeared far away.

This was the hardest part for the higher ups, these fights lasted for hours.

Unfortunately Enzo and the rest could not participate in these harrowing events so he quickly made his way back to the military barracks that had been somewhat fortified.

"Quickly head In, the sun is about to set" a voice sounded from a communication channel as Enzo reached the barracks the rays of the sun bearing down on him.

"Hey, open the door" Enzo arrived at the front gate covered with steel plated slabs reinforced and welded into each other.

"Yen, yenyenen" from the other side of the door, an annoying voice resounded as the door was slowly unlocked using several mechanisms.

"You're still here? Why don't you just roll over and die already?" The preson behind the door commented as he sighted Enzo.

The week after the dome around the city went up, headquarters sent a rescue team to check up on them. The team included another tyrant but he couldn't get into the city but the rest could.

Seeing that most of them were still alive however drove the new comers to hate them, not for any genuine reasons aside from them being stuck here too.

"Annoying shithead" sneering Enzo walked past the young man in institute uniform and headed up the stair of the complex.

Those guys were just too stupid to understand what an opportunity rune city was for low level weavers.

Creatures, even mere terrors would not actively hunt you unless you went for them with your own hands, that was like having a buffet of food you could pick from without getting food poisoning.

Everyone here below tyrant rank in the past two weeks had experienced a rise in stage of at least one unit, and people like Enzo had not only solidified his level, but had received a myriad of echos and materials he could sell to afford a star seed.

Even Titus had entered the third stage of the exalted rank. He was already qualified to undergo his third voyage…

These new comers had no right to complain, only the holy weavers had that right.

"Enzo" the moment Enzo stepped into his room, Raven tackled him to the ground with a firey look on her face.

Actually, for most of the time the city was safe, but once the 7th night approached, no one was really safe, even them.

This was simply because the rules that stopped the beasts from attacking weaker combatant went out the window during that time.

It had happened three times already so they all knew to hide during that period, but even that was but a temporary fix.

After all, if a tyrant decided to find them during that time they would all be done for.

"You are trying to get yourself killed again, why did you stay out so long?" Raven complained her legs crossed around enzos waist as she gripped his collar tightly.

"I….master White delayed me" Enzo slowly explained with a bitter look on his face.

Actually he had gone hunting and was delayed because of it. Thankfully master white hadn't noticed, there was no way he would tell her though.

"Hmm, I'll go with you next time and speak to him" Raven said coldly.

Master white wasn't just enzos benefactor, he had taken her in too. She didn't believe he would endanger Enzo like that, he was clearly lying.

"Hehe" Enzo laughed bitterly as Raven stood up allowing him to get up also. As he did so he quickly walked to the corner of the room and sat facing the wall as if under punishment.

However

"Hehehe, you're growing pretty fast kid, what are you now 17? Time moves faster on Galafray you might be old enough soon" a feminine voice sounded as a lady I'm revealing clothing bent over Enzo head and admired him her gaze firmly perched on his lower body.

She was a lady so she knew, that the reason Enzo had come to this corner was because he was embarrassed.

His lower body had popped some blood after being in such close proximity to raven.

The night quickly passed and before they knew it, it was the 7th sun cycle.

"If you have anything that packs a punch please donate it to the security pact, we will exchange 20% above market value to buy it. Remember our safety is your safety"

In a large meeting room in the barracks, a member of the cloaked shades said speaking to those around.

During the day, everyone was allowed to go out and hunt beasts getting stronger and receiving echos, but at night they stayed In doors and were protected by cloaked shade.

They did this as an obligation, but they also needed to beef up their security by arming the members here.

One way to do so was by getting echos from those willing to sell.

Unfortunately more often than not, no one agreeed to do so.

"Hey, I have something" someone stepped out and handed over a rusty dagger.

"Yayyy another rusty dagger" the cloaked shade member sighed looking at the sack of ungrateful fucks around. They didn't value them enough to sell equipment to them.

But of course, deep down he knew that wasn't the case. They were in a dog eat dog situation, and no one could truly trust their safety on others.

So even though they allowed cloaked shade to take this role, they were instinctively hoarding all they could to defend themselves when it came down to it.

"Anyway" Darth came forward after the first cloaked shade left and said.

"There's message from HQ"
