This Summoner Is Too Powerful

Chapter 237: Ambushing the Wolf Pack

Li Pu could tell it was a young cloud wolf.

With its round head and round features, its walking posture was a bit awkward.

Not exactly limping, and as an expert on limping, he had much to say on the matter.

Its movements were hesitant, much like a newborn not yet fully in control of its body.

"A bit strange."

Scrutinizing the little wolf, Li Pu showed a puzzled expression.

From his experience with pack beasts, usually such youngsters are either protected among adult wolves or left in a hidden den.

Yet this young wolf was clearly rejected by the cloud wolf pack.

It was evident that it wanted to integrate, but every time it got close, a few cloud wolves would threaten it with an aggressive posture.

Of course, those cloud wolves hadn't really attacked it along the way but also didn't let it into the pack.

"Forget it, priorities first."

Despite his puzzlement, Li Pu felt it wasn't any of his business.

So he started arranging the ambush tactics with Caocao and Ben Cao for later.

The opponent's numbers were considerable, and a frontal assault would be challenging.

Not that Li Pu thought they couldn't win, but striking first would be more effortless.

[Grass!]

Caocao: Don't worry, Summoner, leave it to Ben Cao!

[Chomp chomp~]

Ben Cao: Sweet~

The two summoned beasts responded after hearing their assignments.

Since they deliberately chose an area downwind, Li Pu and his team's scent wasn't detected by the cloud wolf pack.

The wolves, as usual, walked lazily towards the pile of rocks.

Each cloud wolf tribe had different routines; these wolves were nocturnal.

Having found little game since coming from the Wolf Corridor, they planned to rest before continuing their hunt.

[Awooo...]

Seeing the rock pile ahead, the leading cloud wolf urged its companions with a low growl.

It was the leader of this small tribe, though it hadn't reached the size of a great wolf yet.

The rock pile ahead was a common resting spot for them.

However, besides their tribe, other cloud wolf tribes also frequented it.

The cloud wolf species generally lived harmoniously, but minor skirmishes or rivalries occasionally occurred between tribes.

Such as recently, a few similarly sized small tribes repeatedly demonstrating against them.

The method of demonstration was seizing territory.

Leaving their scent at communal resting places among the tribes.

To be more specific, urinating everywhere.

The rock pile ahead was one of the contested territories.

During the day, at least three groups of cloud wolves would come to urinate, trying to mask the scent of other tribes with their own.

Thus declaring the territory theirs.

It was clear without needing a guess that the rock pile had been marked by other tribes during the day.

That's why the lead wolf urged its companions to quickly reclaim the territory.

[Awoo?]

However, just as they approached, the lead wolf suddenly halted.

Rustle, rustle!

Because a few inexplicable vines ensnared its lower legs.

[Awoo!] xN

Looking back, it saw that most of its minions were similarly ensnared.

[Chomp!]

Before the pack could react to what was happening, a bunch of light spheres flew from a flat rock in front of them.

[Chomp chomp~] xN

Mid-air, just a few meters away, those spheres transformed into big-headed little kangaroos.

[Roar!!]

At this point, the lead wolf finally realized the visitors weren't friendly.

It roared, baring its bloody mouth, trying to bite the kangaroo closest to it.

This reckless, strange animal, hadn't it heard of my wolf lord's reputation?

Meat offered to its mouth, it had no reason to refuse.

As the blue light kangaroo swiftly flew towards its mouth under the wolf leader's gaze, it suddenly kicked.

[Roar ouch!]

The wolf felt its teeth pushed into its stomach in an instant.

Pain, intense pain that immediately spread from its head.

The other cloud wolves bound by vines were in similar predicaments.

They were either being kicked in the head or the head.

Yet what awaited them was much more than that.

[Chomp chomp~] xN

Wave after wave of blue light kangaroos attacked, filling the air with the howls of wolves.

Being among the most dangerous species in East Wilderness Ridge, cloud wolves had strong resistance to attacks.

Such assaults couldn't simply knock them down.

After enduring two waves of kangaroo kicks, they broke the vines.

Whoosh!

But having just freed themselves, they were met with a waterfall-like cascade of sand.

Buried mercilessly by the sand, the wolf pack was left utterly bewildered.

Having just emerged from the sand pile, they faced another overwhelming onslaught of kangaroo kicks.

5 minutes later, the battlefield fell silent.

"Indeed, area attacks are powerful..."

Li Pu couldn't help but exclaim.

The cloud wolves were basically all taken down by Ben Cao.

The few that tried to escape were quickly dealt with by Caocao.

"Time to get to work."

Pulling out two small daggers, he tossed one to Caocao.

Now was the time to cut the tails.

Besides the tails to report back to Climbing Wall Vine, the claws and teeth of cloud wolves could also be sold for money at the trading station.

And so, the man and the grass began rummaging through the sand piles, searching for cloud wolf carcasses.

Ben Cao squatted nearby, supervising while munching on a carrot.

[Grass!]

A few minutes later, Li Pu suddenly heard Caocao's cry.

Following the sound, he saw the little cloud wolf biting Caocao's arm, now being lifted up.

Apparently, too weak to climb out of the sand pile on its own, if it weren't for Caocao's coincidental digging, it might have suffocated under the sand.

Earlier, the distance was too far, so he hadn't had a chance to take a good look.

Now Li Pu discovered this little cloud wolf was a bit unique.

Particularly ugly.

Adult cloud wolves were actually quite majestic and handsome.

But this little four-legged creature was shorter than Ben Cao, round-headed, and had short limbs and a tail, looking not the slightest bit threatening.

Most importantly, while other cloud wolves had fur with a color resembling cloud cover, with observable individual hairs upon close examination.

This little cloud wolf, however, had no visible hair, truly resembling a clump of cloud.

"This one's too young, let's leave it be."

"Toss it away."

[Caocao!]

At Li Pu's gesture, Caocao shook his hand forcefully.

Whoosh~ Thud!

The little cloud wolf was flung through the air in an arc, falling back into the sand pile.
