"Fuck! Don't stop! These bastards are right behind us!" – shouted panicking adventurer as the kingdom army was making their retreat.

"Fuck! Stay with me! Stay with me dammit!" – said the soldier who was carrying his injured comrade…. But as he ran, one of the hound golems leaped at the pair and was about to tackled both of them to the ground… If it wasn't for the spiked ball hitting and knocking away the hound.

"Keep going! We are almost out of the forest!" – said Adam as he and other C rank adventurers were trying to stop the hound golems in tracks, buying some time for the soldiers.

"…"

"Explosion calmed down…. I think we left the booby-trapped zone?" – said the thunder mage as he unleashed barrages of lightings at the incoming golems.

"!"

"Oh shit! They are catching up to us!" – said the female archer as the golem army main force was making their way towards the kingdom forces.

"Shit! Hey! Don't you two have any big spells that can at least stop them in tracks for a bit?" - asked Adam as he unleashed his spiked ball.

"YOU THINK WE CAN?!" – shouted the thunder mage as he snapped.

"We are running on a fucking fumes right now! We had been casting spells nonstop every singe we started running!" – said the mage before then quickly deploying electric barrier, which blocked and fried the crossbow bolts…. But at the same time, made the barrier collapse instantly.

(Fuck! This isn't good! There is just too many of them chasing after us!) – thought the mage as he started running.

"Hey! Don't we have something like bombs of our own!? Or maybe some traps?! Anything!?" – asked the thunder mage as he almost got hit with a crossbow bolt.

"I have fire bombs, but they won't do shit to them!" – replied an adventurer in heavy armor.

"!"

"EXIT!" – shouted the female archer as the army finally managed to reach forest edge, before then leaving behind the monster infested forest.

"Hm?"

"…"

"Oh, they are coming back…. You think…. Wait." – a soldier on watch duty saw the army leaving the forest… But upon noticing that something was off, the man took out his spyglass and gazed at the army.

"!?"

"SHIT!"

"ALL TROOPS! RAISE THE ALARM!"

"RAISE THE ALARM THIS INSTANTLY!"

"…"

"…"

"Do you think they noticed?" – asked exhausted adventurer as the entire army managed to leave the forest.

"Let's…. Let's hope so…. Since I don't think we are in a safe yet." – said the man's friend as the golem started leaving the forest.

"SHIT! THEY ARE REALLY GOING AFTER US!"

The kingdom army ran away with the tail between their legs as the golems gave chase after them.

But thanks to the reinforcement forces being left behind just in case as well as the fact that they had noticed the danger, the kingdom army was able to somewhat get away as the reinforcements slowed down the golems for a moment.

However, only for moment, as the reinforcement was forced to back away as more golems showed up, forcing both reinforcement squad and the remains of the main army to quickly get back to the camp.

"FUCK! At this rate it will be repeat of the last time!" – said the beastman knight.

"YOU ALL! PREPARE TO MOVE OUT! THEY WILL START CHAINSG US ONCE AGAIN AND-"

"Em…. Sir?" – said the soldier that suddenly grabbed the knight by his shoulder while also pointing at something.

"WHAT?" – shouted the pissed off and nervous knight as he then looked at the pointed direction.

"…"

"Wait…. What the hell is going on?" – said the confused knight as he stared at the golem army, who was no longer moving towards the main army and instead had just stayed in place.

"…Why are they not moving?" – said the terrified knight, thinking that golems maybe planning to unleash something upon the kingdom's army...

But they didn't.

Instead, the golems just turned around and walked right back into the forest as the soldiers just watched in confusion and fear.

"…What….What…. What the fuck just happened?!" – shouted the beastman knight who didn't knew what was going on anymore while the soldiers spread the word to stop the evacuation.

(Hm…. This isn't good.) – thought Thauma who was observing its golems.

(If I knew the golems would be able to dominate the fight instantly after the bombs had dropped, I would instead gave them instructions to chase after the enemy….)

(Still, the amount of corpse that has filled up the forest is quite nice.)

(I will be able to obtain a massive amount of DP from gathering them all up.)

(Shame a bit that they took the corpse of their general…. Still, it is more than satisfying to destroy their leader before anything happened that may or may not screwed me over.)

(….But maybe I should do something about this connection issue…. It would be good if I could had issued a new order to the golems out there from here.)

"…Fuck…. What the hell was that?" – said the traumatized adventurer as both the soldiers and adventurers tried resting in the camp after their close escape.

"….This isn't good." – said the elven archer as she was bandaging her wounded arm.

"Yea….We were fucked." – said the thunder mage.

"We lost way too many people…. And those that are left are either injured or terrified…. If not just both."

"Fuck it." – said Adam as he gotten up.

"Hey. Where the hell you think you are going?" – asked the female archer.

"To the new guy in charge." – replied the warrior.

"I don't think general can fight or even survived in the first place…. But right now, we need to have some new orders."

"Are we staying or running away?" – said the warrior before.

"…"

"What the hell happened?!" – said the nervous human knight as he walked around in circles in front of medical tent.

"I-I don't know…" – said the tall wolf beastman knight.

"I really have no idea what just happened!"

"We were winning!"

"We were winning and then dominating the entire fight."

"We were about to start annihilating the golems…. And just stuff started exploding?!"

"…Instantly…. Fuck."

"We would have annihilated them all if it wasn't for those explosions." – said the anxious beastman as he sat down, before moments later a nurse walked out of the tent.

"!"

"How is he?!" – asked the tall beastman.

"…"

"I'm sorry." – replied the nurse.

"There was nothing we could do to save him the moment you brough him here."

"S-so that means…. He…" – said the tall beastman, as he entered the tent, even when the nurse tried stopping him.

"…"

"You fucking idiot." – said the tall beastman as he stared at the general who had his face covered with cloth.

(He is dead?! How?!) – thought the panicking beastman as he quietly left the tent.

(This can't be real…. This bastard isn't just smart, he was also the second strongest person in the entire kingdom, right after the previous general!)

(And yet he died!? Just like that?!)

(He fought those golems before and I was there with him!)

(Even when he got hit, he just took it on like nothing and continued his rampage.)

(They couldn't stop him.)

(So how the hell did these creatures get him?!)

(Was it because of those explosions?!)

(But what even caused them to go off in the first place?!)

(There was no smell of gunpowder…. So does that mean it was magic based explosions?)

(Magic traps?!)

(HE WOULD HAD NOTICED ANY SET UP TRAPS THAT USES MAGIC!)

"Fuck…. Nothing makes sense." – said the tall beastman as he then noticed some sort of commotion happening amongst the soldiers.

"Get out of my way." – said Adam as the soldier tried stopping the warrior.

"Sir. Please step back. We need to-"

"I don't have time for this." – said the warrior as he took out his spiked ball, alarming the soldier who were about to draw their weapons, if not for the tall beastman stepping in.

"…You." – said the beastman as he recognized Adam.

"Look. If you want to make mess, then do it fucking later."

"Right now the situation is already chaotic enough to make everybody terrified on what would these creatures –"

"Sorry, but I'm not going anywhere." – said Adam as he picked up his spiked ball.

"This is regarding the current situation."

"The general…. Is dead, isn't he?"

"Who is the person in charge now?"

"…"

"That would be me…. I guess. I'm his second in command, Arthur." – said the tall beastman.

"Arthur…. Okay. Listen." – said Adam.

"I know we just escaped death and all, but right now we don't have time to relax and lick our wounds."

"Because based on what you had told us, these things can leave the forest and chase us for a long time."

"I don't know why they turned back. Maybe they were too damaged to continue fighting or maybe they were running low on fuel."

"I don't know and can't tell."

"But what I do know is that we need a CLEAR order right now above everything else."

"Are we staying? Or are we retreating completely? Abandoning the operation."

"We need to have this decision made now!"

"…"

"Can…. Can adventurers still fight?" – asked Arthur.

"Well…. Not really, if I'm honest." – replied Adam.

"We all got equally fucked with those explosions."

"I also saw your men. They are not doing so hot right now either."

"….And I'm going to say this already."

"Some of the adventurers may decide to call quiets now if you decide to stay."

"Are you saying that I should order a full retreat?" – asked nervous beastman.

"Well, if you have a strategy, a solid one that can be backed up, instead of just some bullshit fantasies, then go ahead and speak."

"Convince not only adventurers but also your own men to stay behind and fight these golems while they right at their death's door."

(He is right…. We got screwed up way too hard.) – thought the beastman.

(We were about to start exterminating these golems…. But these explosions ended up completely flipping the table on us, resulting in us being the one getting exterminated.)

(Not only that, we still don't know what even caused those explosions in the first place! And that fact alone is...…Dammit it!)

"I understand." – said the beastman.

"You." – said Arthur to the nearby knight.

"I'm issuing new order."

"Evacuation."

"We are leaving this place before the golems change their mind and go hunt down our asses."

(And…. Fuck me.)
