"Fuck….. Is this all…. Hey. How are you all holding up?" – asked the leader of the hooded group after a large scale battle just ended.
"We fine... Well, most of us are." – replied a hooded beastman.
"We had some loses and injuries."
"We…..Damn…. I know they are just some kind of dolls and stuff…. But they can kill."
"One guy got unlucky and got shot right in the eye with crossbow."
"…"
"But most of you are still able to move and fight, right?" – asked the leader.
"Yes. We are good to go." – replied hooded beastman.
"Then don't waste time. Continue forward." – said the leader before moments later the group started marching throughout the dungeon, encountering more golems, while completely ignoring any dungeon loot.
"Hm…."
(Overall we are making good progress.) – thought the leader of the hooded people.
(We are not going as fast possible, but still, we need to be careful.)
(After that first fight, we decided to focus bit more on survival…. And by the looks of things, it was a right call.)
(Still, we can't waste time.)
(Considering how tight security they had, it won't take long for somebody to realize that something isn't right.)
(The traitor these bastard planted managed to let us is close enough to not raise up the alarm and the assassins are in the place to keep any survivors we had missed from leaving this place.)
(But even so, I can't say that it will be easy.)
(One thing is hunting people and other is hunting…. Well, these things.)
(Even though they told us in details their weak and strong of these things, it still feels weird dealing with them.)
(We killed monsters and people alike, but this?)
(Hell, those are things are either made out of wood or iron.)
(It feels bit weird slaying them….. Maybe I've got too much used to slashing flesh?)
(…)
(No. It doesn't matter.)
(Right now we need to focus on the job.)
(And the problem is time.)
(We need to destroy the dungeon core and then ran away as soon as possible, before the kingdom forces arrive here.)
"…"
(Hm….. They are not even collecting anything.) – thought Thauma as it observed the group of hooded just marching through the dungeon, hunting down any golems on their way and then just continuing their march.
(By the looks of things, they are really just here to destroy me…..)
(Dammit.)
"…"
(They are not going as fast as I've thought…. But they are not stopping either.)
(And the method of fighting they are using…. Yea, they definitely know the weak points of my golems.)
(At the rate they are doing things, it will be just matter of time before they discover "that" ….. And enter the boss room.)
"…"
"…"
"?"
(Weird.) – thought the leader of the hooded figure as the group made their way deeper and deeper into the dungeon.
(I know this dungeon was left in its break state for long amount of time….. But shouldn't we encounter more monsters?)
(I mean, normally when you head deeper into the dungeon, you would either encounter stronger monsters OR you would just end up encountering far more enemies.)
(And yet, we are not encountering stronger enemies nor we are encountering more monsters…. Instead, we are slowly encountering less and less monsters?)
(Something isn't right.)
"Keep your guard up."
"Something looks funny here."
As the time went by, the group made their way deeper into the dungeon while eliminating every single golem they had encountered….. But something was off.
It was just as the leader of the hooded group thought.
The group started having easier and easier time as they went deeper.
And the reason for that is quiet simple.
They were encountering less and less monster as they continued forward.
This allowed them to move forward much more faster and safer…. But this didn't filled the leader of the group with relief.
No.
If anything, it just made him more alarmed.
And his worries would only increase as the group found themselves being blocked by a giant double door.
"???"
"What the hell is a door doing here?" – asked confused hooded figure.
"Dungeons can mutate their environment and change it to suit their taste and needs." – said the leader.
"Did you thought the soldiers implanted these lights? Nah, it was dungeon."
"There are also some stories about dungeons having a forest inside of them or maybe a man made design, like with bricks and stuff."
"If the dungeon has that kind of changes, you can tell if the dungeon is young or if it was active for some time."
"If this dungeon could start doing some mutations like these, then this means it was active for some time…. Which means we shouldn't let our guard down even more."
"Hey, you two, open up the doors, but slowly."
"Yes sir." – replied two beastmen as their approached the door and opened it up.
"!"
"Stop!" – said the leader as the two beastmen open up the door enough for the leader to approach the door and peek inside.
"…"
"There is a bastard." – said the leader as he spotted a humanoid golem that resembled a knight wearing an iron armor that was also equipped with a shield and sword.
[Iron Golem Knight]
"…"
"…"
"I see one enemy, a golem that resembles a knight."
"But I don't see anybody…. You try." – said the leader as he moved away and let a beastman take a look.
"…"
"Can't tell either. Sorry boss." – said the beastman.
"What about exit? Is there one?" – asked leader.
"…"
"Yes. I can see something on the other side of the room." – said the beastman.
"I think it's a door."
"And I guess right behind is the core." – said the leader.
"Okay, listen up all of you."
"The enemy appears to be a humanoid type golem that resembles a knight."
"He has somewhat average human size."
"But don't let it fool you."
"We don't have any informations about him."
"He maybe stronger, faster or tougher than he appears to be."
"So do not let your guard even for a moment, got it?"
"Get ready."
The group of the hooded figures quickly prepared themselves, checking their equipped and weapons.
"Okay… Let's go." – said the leader before moments later the hooded figures opened the doors wide open, which was then fallowed up with the entire group quickly running into the room.
"…"
And in the response to that, the knight golem got ready to fight, which was fallowed up with the creature starting to slowly walk towards the group.
"Earth magic first! See what this bastard can do!" – said the leader, commanding the mages to start preparing to cast the earth magic as the knight golem continued making his way towards the group.
"~~~~~!"
"{Stone Bullet}!" – the earth mages all at once unleashed a barrage of stone bullet projectiles at the knight golem, forcing it to raise up its shield to protect itself, blocking and knocking off some of the projectiles.
"?"
(Strange.) – thought the leader of the group as the golem continues making his way towards the group.
"Ice mages." – said the leader.
"~~~~~!"
"{Cold Gust}!" – mages unleashed a wave of freezing air all together, hitting the golem from afar and somewhat cooling down the surface of its body.
But alas, not stopping the creature.
"…"
"All forces, move out." – said the leader before moments later all of the hooded figure got ready to fight.
The leader of the group alongside few other people quickly rushed towards the knight golem, fallowed up with the leader trying to slash the creature, only for it to use its shield and easily block the man sword.
"!"
(The strength this guy has…. Isn't impressive at all?!) – thought the leader before then noticing the knight golem swinging its sword at the leader, forcing him to quickly dodge to avoid the attack, but not completely as part of his clock was slashed by the monster.
(It also somewhat as fast as other golems! Why) – thought the leader as he moved away and let duo of beastmen with hammers to rush in and strike the golem, landing two solid hits that bend the iron body of the golem.
"!"
But even so, it didn't stopped as it swung its sword, almost slashing one of the beastmen who barely dodged having his eyes getting slashed by the sword.
"WOW! THAT WAS WAY TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT!" – said one of the beastmen as he backed away in panic.
"Yea! And that guy can really take a hit, huh?!"
"But it worked, didn't it?" – said the leader.
"It is not falling, but is taking a lot of damage."
"It maybe faster and bit stronger, but overall, it is the same as those previous iron golems."
"Just don't let your guard down and we can win this."
"…"
(It is easily taking damage.) – thought the alarmed leader.
(It also isn't either faster or stronger than other golems….. Just what is this?)
(I've thought this guy would put up more of a fight…. But honestly? He isn't special one bit.)
(It doesn't look like he has any ability or anything…. Nor I see anything weird in the room.)
(…)
(By any chance…..)
(Is this guy really dungeon master?)
"…"
(I FUCKED UP!) – thought panicking Thauma.
(This is old golem knight model! A prototype!)
(Fuck! I've thought I've prepared everything, but I've forgotten to replace this guy?!)
(…)
(…Maybe I've shouldn't had too focused on my research….)
(But anyway, at this rate it won't be even a fight! This thing won't even-)
"…"
Thauma suddenly remembers how in the past the bratty nobleman and his two escorts fought the fake dungeon master.
"…"
(It is a repeat….. But this one isn't a bad one.)
(Not all the repeats were failures.)
(Some of them were good.)
(And this one? I will use.)
(Let them slay this golem, it doesn't matter.)
(Since in the very next moment, none of them will be able to escape from this place alive.)
