(Dungeons can growth on their own by two different ways.) – thought alarmed and nervous beastman general.
(First way would be letting monsters manifest, allowing them to take on their true body.)
(And the other is eating.)
(Dungeon can devour anything foreign in order to speed up their growth.)
(But that doesn't make sense!)
(The dungeon monsters once manifested become no longer bound to the dungeon!)
(They can do whatever they want!)
(But if that..... Fuck.)
(There is only one explanation.)
(The dungeon can freely control all monsters that had been manifested?)
(Previous reports about the dungeon, the ones that we had stollen said something about golems not leaving the forest in order to protect the dungeon….)
"…"
"Fuck…. What do we do now?"
(The best course of action would be to attack the forest again and again, wearing down the opponents forces.)
(We have healers and some potions, meaning that as long as soldiers survive, we can help them recover and let them fight again.)
(But if the dungeon is eating corpses….. Fuck me.)
(The more time passes, the more monsters will be born.)
(Our numbers are over 500.)
(100 elite soldiers and 100 knights, with the rest being 300 regular soldiers.)
(We thought that only 500 people will be enough to easily and quickly deal with the forest, making sure that the dungeon is conquer as well as the entire territory.)
(Besides us there is additional 250 soldiers that are currently going around, dealing with monsters and bandits.)
(There are also more than 100 people are in the city, protecting it, in order for the restoration of the key location of this territory to be repaired.)
(The rest of the people that are here are either supporters or people in charge of repairing stuff like the city.)
"Hey. How many mages do we have?" – asked the general.
"Right now?" – replied the beastman knight.
"About 50."
"With 5 being elite mages."
"…"
"Tch."
"It would be better if we had more….. Then again, our military power is more focused on physical strengthen than mages….. Why the fuck that bear idiot didn't do something about it before?" – said annoyed general as he held his head.
(Still, mages are strong.)
(One mage can strike several soldiers with a powerful spell.)
(While the elite mage can not only strike, but also slay multiple opponents at the same time.)
(But we don't know how many enemies are there…. There could be still over 100 golems left, or maybe 200….. Or if we are really unlucky, it could be even around 300.)
(That lack of informations, about how many enemies we have left to deal with is the biggest problem we have.)
(Not only that, we still don't know how many of those "knights" are out there.)
(These bastards are the biggest problem.)
(Our current forces can beat the dungeon forces that are currently inhabiting the forest, but we will end up suffering some heavy loses.)
(But we don't know if what could be still inside of that dungeon….. Has it evolved and transformed? We don't know what kind of insides does it has.)
(Not only that, we may end up being forced to slay the dungeon master.)
(Dungeons masters are the beings that rule the dungeon, a brain of sorts.)
(However, if the dungeon master were to be slain, the dungeon will only operate at extremely minimal efforts while it focuses on reviving the dungeon master.)
(By doing so, we will be able to easily tame the dungeon.)
(But how strong exactly the dungeon master is?)
"…"
(We lack too much informations and we had already made a first mistake that caused lives of some of my men.)
(So-)
"…"
"?"
"General." – said the beastman knight as he suddenly grabbed the wolf beastman shoulder and pointed at the beastman soldier running at full speed towards the group's location.
"…Let him through." – said alarmed general as the scout made his way to general.
"S-sir! The enemy! The enemy golems are on the move!" – said the beastman scout.
"The golems inside of the forest started moving all at once."
"!"
"What are they doing?" – asked general.
"All golems that were in the forest, they suddenly all started leaving edges of the forest."
"This also included some golems that were right outside the edges as well, they were spotted moving."
"…"
"Where they are heading?" – asked general.
"Don't know." – replied the scout.
"The rest of the scouts are currently trying to see what they are doing."
"But from what we could tell, they were all heading towards the forest center."
[Meanwhile: Golem Forest]
"…"
"Damn. There is really a lot of them here." – whispered the beast-human scout as he spotted the army of golems marching together.
"Get down you idiot! If one of them spots you, we are toast!" – said the female beast-human scout.
"I can't! If I do, I won't be able to see where they are going!" – replied male beast-human.
"!"
"There!" – said cat beastman as he spotted the entire army of golems gathering.
"!?"
(Just how many of these things are here?!) – thought the female beast-human.
(Did all the golems had gathered here!?)
(Dammit! But why!? Why - NO!)
(That doesn't matter!)
"We are going back!" – whispered female scout.
"General needs to know- "
"WAIT!" – said male beast-human as he grabbed the female beast-human, stopping her from moving.
"Look!"
"?"
"…"
"W-what the…. What the hell are those?!" – said the female beast-human as she stared with fear at something that stood out amongst the golems.
"…"
(Enemies. Found.) – thought Thauma, who was using its scout golem to spot the nearby scouts hiding nearby, whom were unaware of the fact that there was a golem right above them amongst the tree branches.
(Golem control remote control. Link established.)
(Granting new instructions.)
(Instructions granted.)
All golems suddenly turned their heads around, instantly looking towards the direction of the scouts.
"!?"
(They spotted us?!) – thought alarmed male beast-human, before moments later the crossbow wielding golems fired a barrage of crossbow bolts, which instantly took down the cat beastman and almost struck down the two beast-humans, if it wasn't for them barely managing to hide behind the trees.
"FUCK! THEY FOUND US?!" – shouted female beast-human as the scouts started running away.
"RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" – shouted male beast-human as the crossbow golems continuous.
"THE MOMENT THEY CATCH US WE ARE GOOD AS DEAD!"
The scouts could hear it.
The sound of steal.
The sound of steps.
The sound of metal clanking.
The sound of their own death coming right after them.
They ran, as fast as possible…. But obviously, some mistakes were made.
Fear can make you blind about your surroundings….. And those who were too quickly overwhelmed ended up tripping or slowing down in worst spots possible, which obvious resulted in the unlucky ones getting hunted down.
…
But even so, the others didn't gave up.
They ran not only for their lives, but also warn the forces outside about the danger that will soon befall them….. However unfortunately for them, the golems had already finished their preparations.
"…"
(The golems are moving way too organized.) – thought the nervous beastman general who was still in his camp and was stomping the ground nonstop with his feet.
(This things apparently don't have will on their own…. But is that really true?)
(They fought like real soldiers.)
(They knew how to fight other people, be it with claws or blades.)
(Not only that, but that ambush using snow….. This is clearly a strategy that must had been came up on the spot.)
(But all of those golems were the same….. Then just... No.)
(There is no mistaking it.)
(Something was commanding these creatures.)
(But what? And who?)
"!"
"Sir! Two more scouts has been spotted leaving the forest!" – said the beastman knight as he hurried to the general side.
"…Maybe he will- "
"Hm? Hold on….. There is something….. There is something moving in the forest!" – said the soldier with a spy glass as he noticed movement amongst the trees, before moments later a group of hound golems jumped out from it and started chasing the two scouts.
"!"
"The scouts are being chased by the enemies!"
"THEN WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!? HELP THEM!" – shouted the general, instantly commanding the soldiers to ran towards the scout's rescue.
"!?"
"-N!"
"?"
"Hey, are they saying something?" – asked one of the soldiers that ran towards the scouts.
"-UN!"
"RUN YOU FUCKING IDIOTS!" – shouted injured male beast-human scout.
"TURN AROUND!"
"???"
The soldiers finally managed to get close enough to hear what the scouts were saying….. Realizing that they weren't begging for help, but instead telling to "run away".
This obviously confused the soldiers….. But it didn't took them long to realize why.
"?!"
"WHAT THE HELL?!" – shouted the soldier with spy glass as he realized that the number of the hound golems leaving the forest was alarming large.
"Give me that!" – said general as he realized something was off and instantly took the spy glass from the soldier and spotting himself as the large group of hound golems left the forest.
"Shit! There isn't enough!"
"Hey! bastards we are moving out to help them out! Better safe than sorry!" – said general as he started leading his own personal knights.
"RESCUE THESE SCOUTS AT ALL COST!"
"YOU HEAR ME!? MAKE SURE THAT NON OF THEM DIE!"
