MMORPG: Rebirth of the Legendary TimeKeeper

Chapter 104: Leveling up

"All right. This should be a fine spot," I spoke as I looked at a pack of wolves like monsters resting deeper into the forest.

[Direwolf (Level 20)

Grade: Elite

Description: The Direwolves live in the darkness of the deep forest. Consuming the heavy mana their entire life, they gain the natural ability of shadow-based mana and can exhibit skills related to it. Though their real powers come from their racial trait of getting stronger when working within a group, and their racial ability to go berserk when threatened.]

There were at least 3 dozen wolves inside there, each of them with an average level between 15 and 25. The highest level was of the Mid-Boss Alpha Wolf, who had more abilities than the average ones and had also partial instinctive intelligence that allowed him to issue commands to the pack, making them work together in coordination with each other.

[Attack: 15 ->25]

[Endurance: 10 -> 25]

[Agility: 10 -> 22]

[Free Attribute Points: 10]

I first allocated most of the stat points that I had saved. Based on the situation, I guess I would stick to melee fighting for the time being. It was the fastest way to level up, as waiting to develop my mana-based skills was going to take a lot of grinding time. Something which I can do later, even after obtaining the class.

In fact, I think it would be better to develop them after getting the class. I thought as I added one last touch to my status.

"Are mla ij ap am langea piaej apn gaekp (Gods of Arcadia. Give me the blessing to walk through the ordeals)", I prayed in a low voice.

Because of the Blessing that I have received, I can now use it to pray to all the Gods present in Arcadia. No way, I was going to let such an advantage go.

[You have received the Minor Blessing of the Wind: All movements are increased by 15%]

Lastly,

[You have created the Party: Seeker!]

[Guardian has joined the Party!]

[TristanBear has joined the Party!]

[Blaze has joined the Party!]

[Raven has joined the Party!]

[Link has joined the Party!]

"All right. Here is the plan. Raven and I will gain the attention of the wolves that are level 20 and below, bringing them in range of G and Blaze. G and Blaze, on my signal, your work is to weaken them from a distance. Trisha, make sure they don't run out of supplies. Link, have a healing spell ready in case anyone gets hurt," I spoke as I then signalled Raven to follow me, while others prepared as well.

While the Direwolves indeed hunted in packs, they also tended to leave behind the weaker of the packs more often than not. For them, the weaker, low-level wolves, unless they are in the growing ages, are considered a weak link. Something that is supposed to be cut off, lest they rot the entire pack.

For our current levelling, we were going to use this habit of theirs against the weaker wolves, decreasing their number while also increasing our levels.

Moving closer to the three level 17 wolves, I first hit them with a rock, gaining their attention. Then, slowly as I backed down, I made sure they followed me away from the group. Looking at a distance, I then raised my hand, giving a signal to G and Blaze to attack.

-Whoosh!

-Whoosh!

An arrow and a spear reached the two wolves at an insane speed, piercing the heads of two of the three wolves in a single attack. Before the third one could realise and regroup with the pack…

-Whoosh!

I moved closer to it, attacking its back slightly above the tail, where the core of this monster was.

-Pierce!

-Critical Hit!

With a precise shot, I broke its core, killing it in a single hit.

Raven moved to the other two, who were badly wounded, swiftly ending their lives before they could stand once again. Following my lead, she also attacked at the same place, managing to break the cores without much effort.

That's three monsters done. I looked at the items that the wolves dropped before signalling Trisha to come close. She ran as nimbly as she could, collected all the materials before stepping back once again.

"Raven. You do it this time," I spoke as she would benefit this more as compared to me, who was two levels higher than the monster. Even though it would take a bit of time, as long as she can get a couple of critical hits, she could manage it.

The process was fast, as the entire party coordinated and repeated the same thing at least a dozen times until all the wolves below level 19 were dead. Now only the stronger were remaining, and honestly, given that the stronger pack usually stayed together, it was impossible at our current level to take on all of them.

[Ezekiel - Level 19]

[Raven - Level 18]

[Blaze - Level 18]

[Link - Level 17]

[Guardian - Level 15]

[TristanBear - Level 12]

Looking at the levels, I decided it would be better for us to farm a few weaker monsters first and reach level 20. Especially, me, Raven and Blaze. Once we reach that point, we can hunt a few other groups of monsters, like a Kobold Den, or a couple of scout orcs together.

That way, we can get a lot of experience to get a few more levels and then once again challenge the rest of the direwolves, possibly reaching Level 25, somehow.

All right. Let's see if we can do it by the end of the day. I smiled as I then shared my plans with the rest of the party, and we moved towards the nearby Kobold dungeon.

The main reason I wanted the party to reach Level 20, or even 25, was because of the bonuses they provided to the class. While it may not be much for me, it was especially important for the others. Or else, they will definitely fail in that dungeon.

Level 20 opens up the racial characteristic menu, allowing one to choose a race-specific trait that they could develop to obtain perks, which range from increasing affinity towards a particular element to even increasing the racial stat percentage that they had chosen in the beginning.

For example, G, a dark elf, has an innate affinity of 50% towards the dark element, allowing him to use all the dark-related spells with ease. Now at level 20, one of his perks, if he chose it, would allow him to increase the 50% affinity to 55%. Though not much on paper, it was incredibly powerful when used in the field.

As for level 25, it was the milestone when one of the major skills of a Class gets unlocked. The thing that Link was worried about would cease if he chose one of the major skills that his class allowed him to select, and in turn, would strengthen the backbone of the party. The same goes for Raven, Trisha, Blaze and Guardian.

For me, though, I was not going to reach level 25. As soon as I reach level 24, I will cease all my hunting activity and put my sole focus on the skills. The reason was simple, I wanted to save that growth for the time I get the Class. If I happen to reach level 25 before getting the class, I was going to miss the options to select a skill and assign one of them randomly.

Still, I needed to level up as soon as possible and move to the next step.

Reaching the kobold den, we moved stealthily and cleared it within 40 minutes. The kobolds were numerous; however, they neither had the strength of the orcs nor the coordination of the direwolves. With a few skilled movements, both Raven and I took out the entire den, barely leaving any work for the others to do.

Moving towards the orc scouts, they were each level 20, and we had to go through a number of tricks here and there in order to separate them before we began killing them.

Since it was a high-level monster, I had to keep him kited to me, while Raven and the others attacked whenever they had the chance to. The most hits this time were taken by G, who was shooting from a distance, followed by Raven, who went into melee many times, barely dodging that orc's attacks before once again running away from him.

With the first orc done, we did the same with about 4 more orcs until the orc den was alerted, and about a dozen of them came searching for the source of the trouble. Hence, we had to run back to the settlement to take a quick break.

[Ezekiel - Level 20]

[Raven - Level 20]

[Blaze - Level 19]

[Guardian - Level 19]

[Link - Level 18]

[TristanBear - Level 16]

It was also a good time to choose the racial traits of the human race.
