"All right. Since there are two items that can suit either of you, I will give each of you a choice. Are you ready?"
Both of them nodded, to which Ezekiel turned to G first,
"Mana storage or the ability to temporarily create a copy of your weapon for 10 seconds."
He also explained that having more mana storage means more enchantments as a wordscrafter, while the latter allowed him to have more arrows at once. As for the pros and cons, G had to decide that by himself.
G paused. He closed his eyes for about 5 seconds, and then, reaching a conclusion, he answered,
"Mana Storage."
It was better in the long term. Gave him more options in sticky situations. Additionally, it was versatile in comparison to the [Weapon copy], which was extremely limited to his arrows. It would also allow him to spare mana for any close combat skills, which he would be learning later on.
The only con it had was with the easy replaceability with a mana potion or a mana storage item. However, the same can be said for the [Weapon Copy] by carrying more weapons. All the more easier when he would rarely separate from Trisha.
G also considered the uniqueness of that mana storage since he would receive it from this special garden. But then, thinking it won't make a difference no matter what option he would choose, he gave up that line of thinking.
At the very least, he won't be disappointed with the choice he made.
Probably.
Ezekiel nodded at his answer before turning to Link. Just like with G, Ezekiel presented the option briefly before explaining it to him.
"A blessing that increases firepower or a storage for spells that you can use later," Ezekiel said before giving his own point of view.
"Under normal conditions, I would have asked you to take the blessing that increases the effects of the spells. It would have helped you enhance all your spells regardless. But then, considering how you asked me for help, I decided to look out for you on this one."
"The spell storage would allow you to have more options in sticky situations. And given how we would mostly land in places where the average trick won't work, we would probably need something out of the ordinary as well. Though, will you be the one to get us out of that situation? That depends on how well you use this. Or you can choose the easy way out and make your entire arsenal a bit more powerful."
Unlike G, who took barely a few seconds to answer, Link took his time.
For the next few minutes, he contemplated the pros and cons of each of the rewards. The ways they can be used, their future prospects, and lastly, how they could affect his position in this party.
He described his ideas to Blaze and the others, who in turn gave their opinions. Even the stream started giving Link some ideas on how each of the rewards could be exploited and why the others were bad.
Contrary to G's immediate choice, Link had a lot to think about. In a way, it was a good thing that it wasn't a rushed decision, but now that he had so many points to ponder about, he felt even more confused than before.
Though the final nail was this long comment.
[Goonerno2: You know, Link, I think what you need right now is not firepower. Sure enough, it is going to make you a better player overall, but that's not enough if you want to be a part of this party. At this point, you are basically an extra with nothing to show off. You are being carried by Ezekiel and the others.
The only way you can actually do something special, or perhaps, different. It is by choosing to have multiple spells in your arsenal. It definitely won't make you any better than you are now. But with it, if you plan nicely, it's going to be the best asset you can have for almost any situation you can think of.
Don't think about just healing. Think about having a fire spell. Or a water spell. Think about learning a spell with a very long refresh time and saving it for immediate use later on. It will be your way of being a part of the party where you actually matter. Because honestly, everyone else is already so great in their own way, you can never catch up with them no matter how you try.]
It was a harsh remark.
But Link liked it.
He politely thanked [Goonerno2] and then turned to Ezekiel with a serious expression.
"Spell storage?" Ezekiel asked.
"Yes, please," Link answered.
Focusing on the garden, Ezekiel's eyes darted to the corner fountain. A slight pause in his actions, a self-nod, and then a slow walk towards it.
"This water here contains a very pure mana. According to the description here, a normal mortal won't be able to digest it completely, but if he were to be patient enough, he could gain a blessing from the fountain. For now, G, drink that water and then tell me if you lose your HP. If that does happen, let Link heal you before you try again. We will do that a total of 10 times and check if anything happens," Ezekiel directed the duo.
"Also, Link, every time your MP reaches zero, try to use the biggest Healing spell you have on that fountain," he added.
Link was confused, wondering how he could cast a spell if he did not have enough mana. But then again, recalling how strange the entire place is, he decided to try it out first before raising any questions.
Both he and G reached the old-looking fountain where the water flowed out of the lion head's mouth, before G turned to Link, gave a slight nod, and then began drinking it with his hands.
Link, on the other hand, focused as he got ready to heal him as soon as he asked for.
