Jinn did not even have to see the sly grin to recognize the young man standing at the front.
"Mr. Black…" suppressing the twitch on the corner of her lips, the teacher said, "take your seat."
Then with a loud bang she closed the door, making the whole class flinch. The door was made from a mixture of metal, wood, and magic.'
And the second she closed it, the sounds of gears turning echoed before stopping.
"…"
Now the whole class was in silence. Hearing the sharpness in her voice, no one dared to say anything.
Even Dean quickly climbed the stairs and grinned upon seeing Jinn looking at him.
The black-haired devil felt his rage returning upon seeing Dean. He instantly remembered what he saw in the mirror this morning. 'Don't be hasty. My time will come as well.'
Seeing an empty seat beside Jinn, Dean wasted no time in claiming it.
"Tell those who did not bother showing up on time to take the next lecture. I won't be sending an invite this time, and if they miss it again, they will no longer be allowed to attend one, without any exception."
'So there are other classes like this one. I thought it was a class for only a selected few.' Noticing the low number of students compared to the orientation, Jinn caught several deeper meanings in her words.
'She is really making things difficult for the slackers.'
She mentioned the punishment for those being late even though it was mentioned in the note that the class won't start before nine.
Now this second class could happen at any moment and at any time, and they won't know it unless someone who was 'invited,' like the students here, decides to tell them.
Thus making things even harder for them.
'This class might just be interesting, after all.' Placing the book in the bag, Jinn ignored the grinning idiot beside him and focused ahead.
Even Dean knew when to mess around and when not to. So even though he seemed to be surprised and intrigued upon seeing Jinn, he did not say anything.
'How did he remove the paint so easily?' Dean thought to himself in a daze, 'he should have at least taken a day or two to get it off. Did he use some special item, or did someone help him?'
Several thoughts swirled in his mind, but all were extinguished by a sharp voice.
"For some reason, most of you here have not decided what you want for yourself in the future."
There was a hint of disdain in her voice that was not even hidden.
Many prideful youths flinched or reacted in other ways. But no one dared to say anything when they met the cold gaze of the woman.
"A rather common and recurring outcome. Even though the academy understands why you might need so much time, we have decided not to let you waste your time."
She snapped her finger, and a table appeared out of nowhere before the students. She walked up to it and sat down on it, crossing her legs, revealing a subtle amount of her fair skin.
"No matter what path you choose, my class will be compulsory for everyone. Which is why everyone will be taking this class every day unless I say otherwise."
"You might be wondering why I closed the doors 15 minutes before the class even started. The reason is simple; this time is for introductions."
Seeing some excited and some hesitant looks from the crowd, she added. "Not yours, but mine."
That dampened the reaction of those who had either prepared something to say before everyone about themselves or just wanted to show off during introductions.
"I am Olivia Skinner. You can call me Miss Skinner or Professor Skinner. This is the class related to the innate energy known as the Dragon Energy."
"Every one of you has been blessed and awakened with one ability or another. You have been hearing about Spiritualists and Aurors your entire life."
"You admired and longed for this power ever since you became aware of it, and now that you have it…"
Olivia suddenly paused, spreading her arms and covering the words behind her on the blackboard, she said.
"What now?"
Even though the students had initially started listening to the woman out of fear, as she went on, her words and the way she carried the class got everyone immersed in the class.
"You must have doubts. What really is this dragon energy?
Now that we have it, how do we continue training from here on?
How do we advance?
How do we awaken the Second core, also known as the Sacral Chakra?"
"All of those questions and many more will be answered here."
Jumping down from the table, she walked back to the podium and picked up the box she had brought along with her when she entered the room.
"But before we begin dwelling on all of that, we have to see if you are even ready to know about those things before you can even start practicing them."
She placed the box on the table and slowly lifted the lid.
With the lid gone, the sides of the box fell down, revealing the device hidden inside.
Jinn watched the glass orb attached to the mechanical design, which moved like a working clock, gears turning. He could also see a faint azure light flickering within the orb and the machine parts as well.
"This is a special device made by one of the academy's most genius, well-accomplished, and deeply admired professors. Its name—"
Professor Skinner looked so proud while she spoke those words, as if she herself had made this device.
'It seems she really 'admires' this professor.' Jinn chuckled inwardly.
Then she suddenly paused before continuing with a fake smile.
"What you need to know is that this device can be used to measure your control over dragon energy. You need a decent amount of control over this innate energy before you can even think of going any further."
She clicked some buttons on the device, bringing it to life.
"I will call you one by one and have you demonstrate your control over your energy."
Several circles appeared on the glass orb before a strong light flashed deep within it.
Then, as if she had suddenly recalled something, Miss Olivia paused and said. "Ah, I forgot to mention this before, but if you fail to meet my expectations, don't even think of leaving this class today until dinner."
Then, as if confirming her words, the magical door of the room clicked a few times, unlocking the despair in many hearts.
