Deal with The Devil!

Chapter 94: Justice For Dean?

Jinn left professor Olivia's office with great relief. He was really starting to get claustrophobic even though he was not one.

Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he was holding his breath.

"What are your plans now, master?" The imp swayed its legs on his shoulders gently.

'What is there to do? I have to get information and get through a boring class, probably while doing my best to learn about how to grow stronger.'

Even though he could speak to the imp directly through his thoughts, Jinn liked to voice his thoughts out sometimes. But in situations where he feared someone listening to him, he used this method to prevent from being noticed.

'If only I could just gain information with those soul malls of yours.'

'But master, you can.' The imp looked at him in confusion. 'I already told you that you can buy any information using those souls.'

'They are so expensive that I have to pretend they don't exist.' Jinn cried in his heart, recalling the price for a simple control and advancing method for his current core level.

Had it been close to a hundred or even a thousand, he would have bought it as an investment for the future, but ten thousand soul points…

Even if he had that many souls, there was no way he would spend them all.

Information was expensive; he realized that. But what he also knew was that the price was overexaggerated and was not worth the value of the product.

When he asked the imp about the high price, it replied. 'After the war between the gods and devils during the bygone eras. The number of devils has been reduced, and gathering information from the enemy side has become extremely difficult.'

So the reason for the high prices was the difficulty in gathering them.

"In comparison, the method for you to enhance your demonic core is one-tenth of this price. You should start practicing this if you want to grow stronger soon."

But Jinn waved off his suggestion.

This time it was not a matter of price but of his identity.

He wanted to stay hidden among the humans for as long as possible, and until now he had been able to hide his devil race from even the Spiritualists and Aurers.

But who knows what would happen if his devil side grew stronger than his human one?

'Would my body leak the demonic aura and reveal my identity?'

There was also a chance that nothing might happen, but Jinn did not want to take a chance for instant power.

He decided to take his time and gather more information from the academy and decide if he needed to spend those ten thousand souls to find a better method.

'Just why do those devils have to be so greedy? It would have been better if there were some selfless devil who gave away information for just one soul…'

Who was he kidding? Jinn knew there was no selfless devil. Devils were creatures of innate selfishness and pride.

There was a reason he was selected to be one on that day—

Wait!

As if thinking of something, Jinn suddenly stopped in the middle of climbing the stairs.

'What if I sold the information myself? Can I do that? Wouldn't I be able to extort more souls with the information gathered from this place and others?'

Jinn had been born a human, so there was no need for him to go through the trouble other devils had to go through.

Once he realized how easily he could gain souls, Jinn shared his idea with the imp.

Sadly, the ugly bastard destroyed all his plans.

"You cannot do that." When asked the reason, it explained. "To buy something, you might not need to have any qualifications, but to sell something, there are terms that you have yet to fulfill."

'Which are?' After calming down, Jinn resumed walking. He entered the room and lay down on his bed. The room was empty, as Dean was nowhere to be seen.

"You have to reach awaken at least two demonic cores of your body, which will make me strong enough to access the selling area, but…" the creature seemed hesitant at first but eventually decided to reveal the other condition. "…to really sell something, you have to spend at least a hundred thousand SP on the store."

Jinn stared at the ceiling of his room like a motionless doll. His lack of response scared the imp as it hurriedly tried to explain the reason.

"Ah, ehto. You know they do that for a reason. Information needs to come from a reliable source, and we cannot let anyone sell it."

"…"

Hundred thousand Soul Points.

Not all souls have the same value; the lowest quality ones are worth 1 point, and some souls of powerful and influential individuals can be worth up to a million or billion points.

But still… the number was not small.

More so for the current Jinn.

He was the weakest of the ranks among spiritualists, and how could he just obtain a hundred thousand soul points?

Even after committing the most atrocious thing in his past life, something he was not proud of, he had only managed to gain ten thousand points.

Just how many people would he have to manipulate and deceive to gain those points?

Clank!

Before Jinn could drown deeper in the swirl of his thoughts, the gate to his room opened and his roommate stormed in.

Dean had already locked eyes on him the moment he stepped in.

"You…" Standing before Jinn, he leaned over the bed, right over his head, and said, "How could you do this to me?"

"You used my name to kick the ass of a senior!"

"Ah, who told you?" Jinn's first reaction was one of confusion. He knew Evelyn should not have revealed something like this.

"Had it not been for Miss Skinner, I would have stayed in the dark. What else have you been doing in my name?"

His words only confirmed a guess that was forming in Jinn's mind.

"Calm down, this is nothing compared to what you did to me." Jinn casually sat up and pushed the boy away.

"What do you mean not enough?" Dean groaned in annoyance before he dragged a chair to sit and talk. "If that senior decides to take revenge, he will send people after me, not you."

"Since you already know about this, it means that the professor already handled the situation because of our identities."

Jean clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"If that was not enough, you even started a rumor that I was slapped by a woman for giving her incurable diseases. You know what you did? You ended my whole social life in this academy."

"Again, the academy will handle this, I think." Jinn replied, but at the end, even he sounded unsure. "Maybe, next time you will think twice before pulling a stunt like that."
