After some bickering, Dean finally gave up.
"Whatever, dude, at least those rumors died early because no one knew my face, only the name." Sighing, he leaned in his chair and soon forgot about it.
But he had no idea that Jinn did not forget so easily. 'Should I cancel the next plan… no, let's postpone it until he messes with me again.'
"Have you seen your schedule?"
Dean looked at Jinn before pulling out a crumpled paper from his pockets.
Suppressing a twitch, Jinn said, "There are no classes on this Friday for me. Is it the same for you?"
"Hmm? What do you mean 'this' Friday? The timetable is consistent throughout the year."
Jinn looked at the clueless boy with an impassive look before pointing out the string of small words at the bottom.
No Classes on Dec 5th. But Everyone is to gather in the auditorium at 9 AM sharp.
"Why don't they make such important announcements in bigger words? Someone would think that they are not important and skip it." After groaning, he folded the paper up and threw it on his bed.
"Maybe there is a joint session or something for a special class. I have no information about this."
Dean seemed genuinely clueless. He thought for a second and guessed, "Could be something to do with those points they offered us. By the way, what courses did you take?"
His eyes drifted to the stack of books that was three times his own, and he could not help but shiver slightly.
"Three."
"The fuck? Pardon my language. But what in the fuck of the sweet virgin holy priest?" Clearly, he could not believe what Jinn had said. "There are five courses, and you chose half of them?"
"There are six." Jinn corrected him unimpressively.
"See. I cannot even remember the correct number of total courses, and you chose so many of them." Sitting back down in the chair, he looked at him like Jinn was someone who had lost his mind. "You do know that to graduate you need at least 75% marks in each course every year?"
"Oh, do we?" Jinn paused for a second before shrugging, "it should not be a problem."
Dean finally realized the immense difference between a genius like him and a true genius.
'Am I the weird one here?' Overwhelmed with misery, he slumped in the chair, looking like a corpse.
"I hope you don't leave right after you just got her, my friend."
Thinking there might be a chance, Jinn was acting tough or did not realize the gravity of his situation; he offered silent prayers before getting up lazily.
"I will get some sleep before leaving in the evening."
"Where are you going in the evening?" Jinn looked at his retreating figure with confusion. There was nothing left for them to do anymore until the next day, so where could the boy be going?
"Got a hot date."
"Already? The academy barely just started."
"And you do realize that you cannot interact with students who are not in special class and reveal your identity?"
Dean slowly climbed into his bed and answered, "Who said it was a student and besides there is no way I will tell her my real name."
"I have been laying the groundwork for a week. It finally worked."
"Is it a teacher?" Curious, Jinn decided to ask for more information on the woman.
"Not really, she is a nurse. I have never been to the hospital wing, but I met her near the shops behind the academy building."
Jinn did not need to hear more about it. He had been to the hospital wing on the very first day and realized something.
Nurses were more dangerous than the teachers.
They had a quirky nature and questionable methods to heal the patients.
The screams echoing from within the room were still fresh in his mind.
He wanted to warn his roommate, but…
'They act that way with patients, so he should be fine, right?'
Thinking of this, Jinn assumed it would be fine and did not tell him anything.
"Good luck."
Dean did not realize it at the moment as he drifted into the sweet embrace of sleep that after that day, he would be scarred for the rest of his life.
…
The next morning Jinn woke up from his sleep at 5 and got out of bed to get ready.
"Guess the date went really well." Noticing the empty bed on the other side of the room, Jinn chuckled wryly before entering the bathroom. "I wonder if there are any social norms for relationships and frowning upon people dating someone under 18."
If that was the case, the nurse had committed or was going to commit a crime.
'Well, I am a devil, so I have no obligation to report them.'
Brushing up, he changed into some lighter clothes and went downstairs for a run.
Besides the day he arrived, Jinn had not missed a single day of workout. He had yet to select a weapon for himself, so he decided to stick to his morning routine from before till then.
After a good long run of 20 kilometers at varying speeds around the campus, Jinn returned to his room and did some push-ups and sit-ups. He also performed some complex yoga poses that would make his body more agile and flexible.
By the time he finished with his workout, it was eight in the morning; the classes did not start until ten. So Jinn took a bath and dressed up before looking at his schedule.
The first class he had to attend was DECM.
Dragon Energy Control And Manipulation.
The class was all about the test he took for the first week, but since there was no book on it, he did not know what to expect.
Following it was the class of Ancient Language.
Since he chose to participate in the Ruin Exploration course, he had to learn all the old languages he could find in the ruins to decipher them.
After a quick look, Jinn went to have his breakfast before walking down to the first floor.
He followed the room number on the timetable and arrived before a corner classroom.
Upon entering, he was surprised at what he saw inside.
