The first thing Yang Ze wanted to use was his talent Escape master to teleport, but the moment he tried to use it, he realised that it was still on cooldown.
"Fuck." Yang Ze had almost forgotten about how it was only a blue talent, and he could only use it once a month, which he already did while trying to save Cang Yue in the Blue Faced tribe.
With nothing else to do, he could only use his sevenfold illusion in haste and in the next instant, his body split into seven.
The demonic wolf, too, was taken aback by this sudden change in events, but it was too late for it to change its trajectory. Its maw could only grab the figure in the front, as its sharp teeth pierced through its head, and the figure shattered into light.
Yang Ze, who barely managed to dodge it, didn't even have time to react when the massive wolf simply used its tail to whip in a circular area, instantly shattering all the clones before striking towards Yang Ze's true body.
"This damned thing." Yang Ze wasn't even able to catch his breath when he saw the tail smashing towards his head.
Without any hesitation, he used his Etheral Shadow Step, with his body blurring for a moment as he narrowly dodged the tail that hit the ground where he was standing, shattering it like a cracked mud pot with stones flying all over.
"I..." Before Yang Ze even had time to say anything, the demonic wolf, which had just missed its target, shot towards him.
"This fucking wolf sure is persistent." Gritting his teeth, Yang Ze could only use his talent, Etheral Shadow Step, to narrowly dodge again.
And thus for the next fifteen minutes, Yang Ze kept on using his movement talent to narrowly dodge the attacks as he tried to find a way out of his situation.
Judging by the wolf's speed and reaction, facing it head-on was akin to smashing his head against a stone. The only thing it would do is to get him killed.
He wasn't arrogant enough to think that he could go against such a demonic beast who could chop his head off in a single bite.
Besides...
Gritting his teeth, he simply raised his right hand while his left hand was still holding Lin Meilin in his embrace, as a pair of gloves suddenly appeared on his hands.
'Mystic Nether Art..." The last time Lin Meilin looked at it from a distance was when he summoned them against Cang Yue in the Blue faced tribe. Now, feeling this skill being used from such a close range, she had a greater understanding of Yang Ze's mental strength.
"How interesting." She muttered under her breath, but didn't disturb him. She merely acted as a timid, terrified woman who was overwhelmed with fear and was completely dependent on Yang Ze for safety.
Of course, she didn't know that Yang Ze was considering throwing her to the wolf and running away; otherwise, she would have taught both him and this damned wolf a painful lesson.
On the other hand, Yang Ze once thought about throwing Lin Meilin to the wolves, but after thinking about how powerful and unpredictable she was, he held back that thought. What if he threw her to the wolf, and the next moment, she grabs him and feeds him to the wolf? With her strength, it was entirely possible.
Perhaps this wolf was her way of testing him and seeing how he handles the situation. If that were the case, Yagn Ze was even less likely to throw her to the wolf.
Taking a deep breath, Yang Ze unconsciously inhaled Lin Meilin's body's fragrance as he used his Etheral Shadow Step, but this time, instead of dodging, he used it to close the distance between the demonic world and himself.
Taking a step forward, Yagn Ze's vision blurred as he directly appeared above the demonic wolf, which seemed to have lost its track.
Without any hesitation, he immediately pulled back his right hand, poured all his internal energy to use the Black Tiger technique, turning his entire right hand pitch black, as if it were covered in a thin layer of black fog.
Then, without any hesitation, he punched down with all his might, directly aiming at the back of the wolf, wanting to break its spine in half.
*BOOOOOOOOOM
With an ear-splitting sound that felt like an explosion, Yang Ze's fist finally made contact with the demonic wolf's back, but the scene of the wolf grovelling in pain didn't appear.
"You have got to be kidding me." Yang Ze looked at the perfectly fine wolf beneath him and then at his fist that felt like it had hit a thick cotton wall before gulping a mouthful of saliva.
The wolf didn't even seem to be affected by his attack, as it merely flicked its tail with a speed incomprehensible to human eyes.
Yang Ze didn't even get time to react when he felt like he was hit by a speeding bus from behind as his figure flew away like a cannonball before plunging into the distance.
Thankfully, he was in the grassland, making him land on these thick grasses, which cushioned his fall to an extent. But even though the fall didn't injure him, the strike from the tail certainly did.
"Ughh..." Yang Ze almost shed tears from pain as he tried his best to move his body. His every action right now was filled with pain... especially his waist that felt like it had broken in half.
Even without touching, he could feel his swollen waist as he stood up with some great difficulty.
"Young hero..." It was at this moment that Lin Meilin, who was in his embrace, muttered in a fearful voice.
"Just leave me here and run..."
"Save your life first."
"Young hero... You have already done enough for me. Please be on your way."
Lin Meilin's purpose this time was to test his strength. She knew that the boy wasn't as simple as he looked. Especially after she saw him use the teleportation skill as well as mystic nether art and those illusions in the Blue-faced tribe.
She wanted to know just what else he was hiding. Although she had planned a lot of things for him, for the time being, she was interested in knowing what his limits were and just how strong he truly was.
Which was why she thought about using such a cliché method of playing a damsel in distress.
She would pretend to be a helpless mortal travelling to the Tianxu Trading zone who just happened to be attacked by a bunch of wild wolves.
Because of her basic understanding of human nature, she knew he would take action to save her from the wild wolves. After all, for him, this was an effortless task.
And because of his actions, she pushed herself upon him, introducing herself as a mortal woman and slowly getting to know him more.
By now, she had a basic understanding of the boy holding her tightly. He was someone willing to take risks and save the lives of others.
In simple terms, he was one of those 'righteous' fools who would put others' safety before their own.
Even now, when his own life was in jeopardy, he still wasn't willing to let go of her.
Although admirable, in Lin Meilin's eyes, it was somewhat foolish. But it still didn't prevent her from having a favourable opinion about Yang Ze.
"Young hero..." She urged again in a feeble, weak voice.
"The wolf is too strong... Please leave me here and run for your life."
She wasn't saying this out of the goodwill of her heart. She wanted to see just what else Yang Ze was hiding. With just his gloves and that stupid Black Tiger art, which was still at the first layer, it was a pipe dream to kill the demonic wolf. To actually go against it, he needed to pull off something extraordinary.
Perhaps use a skill that he had been hiding from all.
The more she thought about it, the wider the grin on her face got.
"Young hero..." Hearing Yang Ze's rapid breathing, she urged again, hoping to see Yang Ze pull out his hidden card.
But to her surprise, Yang Ze lowered his head to look her in the eyes, before taking a deep breath and nodding his head.
"Okay."
"Huh!?" For a moment, Lin Meilin couldn't react.
And before she could even understand what Yang Ze just said, she felt his left arm around her waist loosening as Yang Ze released her from his embrace.
Then, under her eyes, which were filled with shock and disbelief, turned around and, without even looking back, ran in the direction of Tianxy trading zone.
"....."
"....."
Looking at Yang Ze's departing back and his receding figure that soon disappeared from her eyes, Lin Meilin just stood there in shock, unable to believe what just happened.
Everything was completely different from how she had imagined.
She had lived for god knows how many years and had played this trick so many times, but this was the first time she saw something as ridiculous as this.
"I... I am not seeing things, right?" For a moment, she couldn't help but pinch her face in disbelief, wondering whether she was dreaming or not.
It wasn't until a few more seconds passed that she finally came back to her senses as her eyes widened.
"YOU...."
"YOU LITTLE BASTARD."
Her rage-filled voice that was full of disbelief spread throughout the grassland, but unfortunately for her, Yang Ze had long since disappeared.
*AWOOOOOOOOOO
The Demonic wolf's howl followed Lin Meilin's shout, as if it too were enraged by the stunt that Yang Ze pulled.
"What are you howling for?" Lin Meilin simply waved her hand, and with that, the massive demonic wolf was flattened onto the ground as if it were being pressed down by something heavy.
"GO AND CATCH THAT LITTLE BASTARD." With a cold snort, she relaxed her hand, finally letting the demonic wolf free, who in turn immediately chased in Yang Ze's direction.
"Ha..."
"Haha...."
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAA"
Looking at the wolf chasing after Yang Ze, Lin Meilin couldn't control her laughter. God knows how long it has been since she laughed this heartily.
Yang Ze's actions were something that she never expected. In her mind, Yang Ze should have been protecting her with all his might. He should have been using all his strength to keep her safe.
But who would have thought that the moment she suggested that he leave her behind and run away, he would immediately follow suit.
This was such an absurd thing to do that even she hadn't expected something like this to happen.
This once again subverted her understanding of Yang Ze and made her realise that whatever she knew about him wasn't enough.
"Interesting... how interesting." Lin Meilin felt like she had discovered a new toy.
With a hearty smile, she simply waved her hand, wrapping the carriage and the horses with her internal energy before taking a step forward, completely disappearing from there along with the carriage and horses.
On the other side, Yang Ze, who was running away, saw the demonic wolf chasing after him.
"You little shit." With a sneer, he let out a sneer.
"Run... Let's see how long you can chase after me."
With his Earthroot Vigour talent, he could run 1500 miles without the need for rest.
Looking at the wolf chasing after him, he merely sneered in response as he kept on running before suddenly realising something.
"That's right..."
Patting his head, he cast a glance at the massive wolf chasing after him before muttering in a soft voice.
