Chapter 54: Combat Class (I)

The next class was Combat Class, and as for the venue of it, Everlearn soon arrived before a towering skyscraper.

Surprisingly, while the buildings in the entire academy were all divided into three areas:

First year, second year, and third year, he witnessed both first and second year students going in and out of this building.

When he read the accompanying note of the building, he was surprised to find that the building that First Year and Second Year got to share when it came to classes was the Combat Class.

'Just like the cafeteria,' He mused silently, continuing forward through the revolving glass gate.

Passing through the gate for a second, felt as if he had passed through a wall of water, the air around him rippling, and when he stepped out, he was shocked.

Before him was a large expanse of a glassy Void world, illuminated by motes of blue lights that hovered silently around.

It was a dark yet amazing setting, and Everlearn turned to his feet, noticing a wave of blue light blooming out in a circular radius with every step he took.

"So much design for a combat class?" he mused to himself in disbelief.

When he had initially thought of the venue of the combat class, he had expected something like a fighting ring, but this?

This was the last thing he expected.

There were students around, some already sitting and others wandering about in this seemingly endless void of dark blue.

Surprisingly, there was no door behind or an entrance.

Space simply rippled, and the students appeared right there, stepping forward.

It confirmed to Everlearn that the revolving glass door was probably a teleporter of some sort, bringing them right here.

Checking the time, it was 9:58, just two minutes before class was scheduled to start, and he took his seat among a random group of students.

It wasn't until about thirty minutes later that all the students were in, and only then did someone appear, not from behind but from the front instead.

A truly eye-catching figure.

It was a woman, dressed in a tight-fitting crimson red combat suit with equally long red hair that trailed down her shoulders, reaching for her bike.

The noisy murmurs in the hall were immediately brought to a screeching stop, a result of many of the male students suddenly going silent.

She was gorgeous, drop-dead gorgeous, and in that fit-forming battle suit she wore, many heads turned red.

Even Everlearn took a second look at the lady.

She was indeed beautiful, and what's more, she was tall.

Very tall, about 2.3 meters in height, making her presence bold and arresting.

Expressionless she was, in fact, almost detached, with a condescending, fox-like eye shape that held crimson irises.

"I am Aurethra, your Combat Instructor."

"You may refer to me as Combat Aura, the official title for combat instructors in X Guard Academy."

She said, and in the next moment, her hands reached to the side as the majority of the blue motes of lights hovering around the area coalesced in her palms.

The entire void darkened a bit as the lights concentrated on her figure, and in the next moment, the coalesced light began to revolve, forming a reality-based holographic image.

It was that of a creature that made every student's heart unconsciously increase by a beat.

"This..."

Combat Aura said, her voice ringing clearly through the void.

"Is Humanity's Greatest Enemy."

"The Nakros."

The being that had been formed beside her was an alien creature.

A creature whose height, even in the holographic image, was 3.0 meters.

It was humanoid and bulky with muscles, possessing not many physical features due to it being a holograph.

Unlike a regular human, it had four arms instead of two.

Two were from its shoulders, and another two came out from the side of its ribs.

What caught most eyes was the scar line that ran horizontally across its stomach, just beneath the right ribs' position, and trailed over to just beneath the left ribs' position.

Two of its arms were folded over its chest, and the remaining dangled by its side, ending in sharp, devilish-looking claws.

Though only a holograph, it radiated an aura of absolute confidence, seemingly looking down upon them all.

║Interesting ║

The system suddenly blinked before his gaze as Everlearn paused briefly, raising his brow.

'What's that?'

║Nothing.║

Everlearn's brows creased suspiciously, but Combat Aura's words brought him back.

"The Combat Class in your First Year will be about learning to defeat a Nakros in a fight." She began,

"And the first step to that is the understanding that fighting against a Nakros is fighting against a being that is superior to you in every metric of the word, Superiority."

She explained something that quite shook the students.

After all, up until now, they had always been told they were above the Nakros.

"Let's start from the basics, height?"

"The average Nakros height is 3 meters." She said, and Evealearn's eyes widened.

'Three....three meters!?'

"Yes!"

Combat Aura confirmed seeing the student's disbelieving expression.

"So, if you think I'm tall, remember, I don't even make the mark when it comes to Nakros' height."

"The second is that the base strength of a normal Nakros is five times that of the male adult human."

"And speaking of base strength, I'm talking just pure brute force alone," she explained.

"That's just about 100 stat points."

║Remember, the most average of them.║ The system added, and he exhaled.

If a human average point was 20.

Imagine a race whose averages were 100.

"If all they had was height and strength, then things would be a little even since we humans can make such things happen through plastic and reconfiguration surgeries." Combat Aura said, continuing,

"But one thing that makes them a superior race over us is Arcane."

"Do you see the line on the Nakros' stomach?" she asked, pointing to the slit on the creature's belly.

"It is a mouth, better put a maw."

"A really big one, and the only thing they use it for is casting Arcana spells."

"The ability to control Arcane, the energy of the Nakros, is something we humans cannot do."

"You may ask why, and the answer is: Arcana is a magical force that is planted into the soul of a being right before birth."

"It's one of those things you're either born with, or you're not, and we humans just were not born with that force, granting us the inability to even sense or control Arcana."

"So suffice to say, to have a human fight with a Nakros is to have a mortal against a god."

"Every second of battle is a test of defiance."

"A battle against certain fate: doom."

"This is the foundational understanding by which the rest of the class will be built upon."
