Mecha Devourer System

Chapter 60: Unexpected Save

"I don't..." She tried to deny, but looking at those blue eyes that screamed obviously, she could only turn her eyes to the ground, completing,

"Know."

Right after, a voice echoed through the corridor.

DIIIIIING!

"Seems like he figured it out."

A silent hmm escaped Everlearn's lips as he turned to the side, finding the elevator open, and out came a woman.

A woman impossible to miss due to her brilliantly shining golden-colored hair and matching golden irises.

She was dressed formally in a golden blouse and matching trousers, with a flowing golden robe that concealed most of her body.

"Principal Onelore?"

Rosa called out in disbelief as Everlearn took a few steps from her, staring at the woman with furrowed eyebrows.

"Principal?"

"Hello, Rosa."

"Seems like you're having quite the hard time with your mission."

Principal Onelore said, and Everlearn watched Rosa huff slightly, displeased, before turning away.

This left just Everlearn and the principal staring at each other.

"Hello, Everlearn. Apologies for the unannounced visit."

She said, as Everlearn turned fully to the woman.

"I am lost." He replied.

"I was the one who instructed Rosa to watch over you."

"That was her mission, and her clinginess was due to the belief that if she could be your friend, her mission would be easier since she would be able to go everywhere without arousing your suspicion, or have an eye on your actions, allowing her mission to be completed perfectly."

She explained, and Everlearn finally understood.

Now that was a more reasonable explanation for Rosa's suspicious clinginess.

But there was still a question.

"Why would you instruct a student to watch over another?" He asked, and it piqued Rosa's curiosity.

Even she had no idea, and she turned slightly to find the golden eyes right before her.

VROOOOOOOM!

The air only caught up a moment later as Everlearn felt his hair flying around, and then her image dispersed.

Turning to the side, he found her right before Rosa, saying,

"Can you give us two a moment, Rosa?"

Rosa's face scrunched up, obviously disappointed, but she obliged.

"Fine," she spat out before disappearing down the corridor, taking the elevator.

Soon, she was out, leaving just Everlearn and her.

After Rosa was gone, Principal Oneloe drew the clothes on the side of her neck slightly apart, and Everlearn watched as a golden X-mark appeared on her neck, glinting with light.

"You're an X Guardian..." he said, and she completed,

"Too."

Not only was she an X Guardian, she also knew he was one too, and the only way he thought that was possible was that she had received the information from The Boss.

"The Boss wasn't confident in your ability to survive here on your own, Everlearn," she said, resting on the railings.

"So, he asked me to watch over you, and I passed that to Rosa."

"But it seems she wasn't even needed," she said as Everlearn's brow creased, watching Onelore bring out her device.

"This video was uploaded just a few minutes ago," she said, showing it to him as Everlearn stepped closer.

Playing was footage of his earlier skirmish with Jaxon.

'What the!? They recorded that?'

"Jaxon, the one you defeated so easily, is a fused Mecha W Corer with about 20% successful integration with his Mech Module strength."

"His strength should be around twice that of an ordinary human, the average strength of the majority of students for now, and yet he was overpowered so easily."

"This is clear proof that you're more than capable of protecting yourself."

She said, but his eyes were deadpan as he turned to look into her golden eyes, watching a golden glint cross through.

"You have also noticed your own abnormality, haven't you, Everlearn?" she asked, leaning closer to him, her golden eyes shining brightly and casting rays into his.

They faintly stung his eyes, though something in his heart told him not to blink.

Then the question he feared the most rang out.

"What is the source of your abnormal power?"

The pressure that followed next almost crushed him to his knees, but before he could say a word.

DIIIIING!

The sound of the elevator rang out as Principal Onelore called,

"I thought I told you to give us some space, Ros—"

She paused in that moment, feeling the presence, and she turned to the elevator.

Her eyes flashed with brilliant golden light as she reclined backward from him, standing upright.

Everlearn noticed her reaction and turned to look.

The one he saw shocked him speechless.

It was a woman who was just taking a cigarette from her lips and exhaling a puff of smoke into the air.

"Boss Ash!?"

He called out in shock, and truly, it was none other than Ash.

"Principal Onolore..."

Ash called out, almost a whisper, stepping forward with smoke spilling from the cracks of her lips.

She continued her walk, coming before the golden-haired lady.

She easily towered above both of them, though her crimson eyes remained staring down at the Onelore.

Taking another deep inhale of her cigarette, she exhaled, smoke spilling over the Principal's face.

"Everlearn belongs to me."

"His life, his anomaly, and his secrets,"

She called out, every word slow and quiet yet ringing clearly through the corridor.

"Try and poke your nose into a business of mine, and you might just end up..."

Huuuuuuuuu

"Dead."

It was an outright threat in every single sense of the word.

And Everlearn's heart sank upon hearing that.

A pressure descended upon the air, making it so heavy he couldn't even hear the rushing of the air anymore.

But that was a fleeting illusion, as Principal Onolore shrugged her shoulders, stepping away from Ash while waving the cigarette smoke off her face.

"Seems like I have nothing to worry about then..."

She said, and Everlearn watched as she silently walked back to the elevator.

She didn't respond to the threat or say another word.

She simply took the elevator, and soon enough, she was out of the corridor.

Huuuuuu

The sound of an exhale woke Everlearn, and he turned his head to see Boss Ash staring down at him with her crimson eyes.

"Miss me?"
