Mecha Devourer System

Chapter 63: Corer Class (II)

"Anomalous Cores follow the same grade as Base Cores."

"Just as there is a Mecha W Core, there's also an Anomalous W Core."

"You might ask what makes each different…" he said, pausing, and Evelena's ears flickered, tuned to their max.

"The difference lies in their energy containment."

"Every core grade has a recognized energy containment number."

"A Base Mecha W-Core will possess at least 1,000–1,200 max energy, with 1,200 being the maximum."

"And also worthy of noting is that the core being given to those of you who have yet to fuse will contain 1,150 Energy Value."

He said, and a glint crossed through Everlearn's eyes.

"As for Anomalous Cores, the basic energy containment is 1,300–1,500." He explained, resulting in a faint murmur from the students.

It was immediately clear that Base Cores held less energy than Anomalous Cores.

"But!" The instructor said, silencing the murmur.

"90% of the Corer population in Nvidia are fused with Basic Cores…" He ended, resulting in a deeper wave of silence.

"And why is that?"

The question rang through, and the Instructor replied.

"That is because, not only are Anomalous Cores difficult to make, about twice the difficulty of an ordinary W-Core, they're also too unstable, making them not worth it in the long run."

"What you would use to make two normal cores will be what is required to make just one Anomaly Core, and most of the Corers who fused with Anomalous Cores ended up blowing up in one way or another."

"This has made Anomalous Cores, though not illegal, too risky to fuse with and not just worth the extra 200–300 energy they bestow."

"Besides, integration is slower with an Anomaly Core."

"The time it will take them to reach a 90% fusion and fuse with another core is longer, and most who have fused with Base cores would already progress to the other level, essentially making them more powerful than an Anomaly Core long-term."

Everlearn could confirm: None of what the Instructor said was wrong.

Anomalous Cores were more expensive to make compared to other cores, and truly, they were greatly unstable.

Even the core that Evelearn had made back then in Mechara would eventually fry the user's brain with continued use.

That was enough to prove their dangerous instability.

But one thing could not be doubted, and the Instructor seemed to be avoiding that.

In that moment, Everlearn raised his hand, and the instructor picked it up, giving him a go-ahead nod.

"If a Base X Corer and Anomalous X Corer are to fight each other exactly 24 hours after their fusion, with all other combat factors such as Combat knowledge and weapons, etcetra, made equal…"

"Who will have the upper hand?"

He asked, and the students turned to the instructor, who paused for a moment before replying.

"The Anomalous Corer would win."

The hall exploded with murmurs.

The majority of the students were those who had fused with Basic Cores, and all they'd been told before the fusion was that Anomalous Cores were trash and not worth it.

Yet now, they were being told they would all lose to an Anomalous Corer!?

"But! But!" The instructor said, trying to quell the thunderous murmurs.

"In the long term! In the long term, the Base Corer would eventually grow higher in power!" He said, managing to quell most.

"We'll use his example," he said.

"24 hours after the core fusion, the Anomalous Corer would win, with all factors made equal, right?"

"This is mainly due to the endurance level."

"Anomalous Cores pump out more destructive energy, driving the body to higher states of power and more energy levels."

"The Base Corer's attack will be slightly weaker, and he will run out of breath first. This is why the Base Corer would lose."

"But!"

"After 3 months, when the Base Corer's Integration reaches 50%, the Anomalous Corer would still only be at 20%."

"And when the Base Corer reaches 90% after a year and fuses with a Mecha W Core, the Anomaly Corer will be at 50%."

"When the Base Corer undergoes his next core fusion and fuses with a W Core, becoming a W-grade Corer and gaining up to 1,500–3,000 energy level, the Anomalous X Corer would still be at 70–80%."

"Now let me ask you all, who will win then?"

The answer was obvious to every student, and they were fully silenced.

"The Anomalous Core way is a tempting way where you gain quick strength and appear stronger than most at the starting line."

"But down the line, you slow down a lot."

"And the chances of being able to fuse with another Anomalous W Core after your X Anomalous Core are almost impossible."

"Anomalous W Cores are just too destructive, and most just end up dead."

"In the end, an Anomalous X Core would eventually fuse with just a basic W Core, turning back to the ordinary path, with the only case being that they now have a more destructive core within them compared to if they had just taken the ordinary path."

"This further increases their chance of blowing up."

"All these factors are what make the Anomalous path in the end too dangerous and, as I said, just not worth it."

He ended, and this time, everyone quieted down, a bit satisfied in their heart.

Now they knew why they had been told Anomalous Cores were trash.

But Everlearn…had already made his choice.

Two more hours later, the class ended, the students making their way out of the class, though murmurs were still ringing.

The topic of Anomaly and Basic had always been a war, even in the Corer world.

Gripping the crimson card in his hands, Everlearn continued down the path, and soon he found it.

A large skyscraper of a building.

The sight of it suddenly made something dawn on him, and he was rendered speechless.

"Wait, this doesn't make sense."

'The X Guard Academy itself is a Tower, and I took an elevator to get here, which is still within the tower."

"Then how the fuck is there a skyscraper within a tower!?" Everlearn mused, shocked to stop as he looked at the various buildings.

"How are these fuckingly high buildings even in a tower?"

But this wasn't why he was here.

At the top of the skyscraper were the large words,

"Core Fusion Lab."

Huuuuuuu

Exhaling to calm his crazily beating heart, Everlearn walked through the revolving glass door, disappearing within.

Next time he would be stepping out, he would either be a Corer… or dead!

Whatever it was, one thing was clear:

He would never be the same again.
