"This snack dropped from the beasts I defeated. If you want some, go and defeat some beasts yourself!"
Felon continued to beg for the treat. But Kimhant resisted, eating the snack right in front of Felon, who looked at him with eyes so teary it seemed ready to cry.
"N-no, I can't give in. I told you, only those who defeat beasts get to eat the treats!"
Kimhant steeled himself, even though he felt incredibly soft-hearted inside. But for Felon and his own progress, he knew he had to stay firm.
"Chii!"
Felon let out a determined cry and set its sights on a beast. It seemed to have decided that it would earn the treat by any means necessary and eat until bloated. Seeing that his strategy was working, Kimhant followed closely behind Felon to provide protection and to be ready to toss down a treat once Felon defeated its opponent.
Felon attacked the monster by opening its mouth and emitting what looked like black spores. Its enemy seemed to get covered in black fuzz, similar to Felon's fur, before gradually withering away. However, because the surrounding monsters were much stronger than Felon, its' attack did not kill them outright. The monsters were left with just a sliver of health, which Felon then finished off by ramming into them. It used the sharp spines on its wings, resembling fingers, to pierce the monsters, much like a spear, successfully taking down a level 12 Thorned Lizard. Kimhant was left in stunned silence, but he did not forget to toss the treat onto the ground for Felon.
"Wow, you leveled up!"
Kimhant exclaimed excitedly as he heard the system notification about Felon's level up. It was well known that the game gave out experience points sparingly, so it often took killing dozens of monsters to level up just once. The higher your level, the harder it was to gain levels.
"But just one level isn't enough! Especially with this gluttonous little guy. I need to make him stronger quickly so he can help pay for all the food as he eats more than anyone!"
Kimhant muttered as Felon finished its treat and moved on to attack another nearby beast. This time, Kimhant did not need to help at all; he simply waited for Felon to finish its prey before subtly tossing another treat onto the ground.
As dusk fell, Kimhant decided to seal Felon back into his ring, as the little creature seemed overly eager to take on a level 53 Black Scorpion that had emerged from the desert sands at twilight. Kimhant headed back to the city for a meal and rented a room, waiting for Chang Long to contact him.
To pass the time, Kimhant strolled through Alexandria at night, eventually finding his way to the city's central square, a place often filled with player-run stalls. He noticed a crowd of players gathered around a noticeboard in the middle of square. Curious, he approached to ask what was going on.
"Hey, what's happening here? Why are there so many players gathered around?"
Kimhant asked a male player standing nearby.
"You haven't heard, kid? Lately, Pirate King tombs are being discovered all over the place! The system just announced that another one has been found!"
The male player turned to Kimhant, replying excitedly,
"Really? If that's true, the big guilds won't be able to sit still. I wonder if the one who found the Pirate King's tomb this time is Demos from the Doom Star Guild."
Kimhant responded with equal excitement,
"Yeah, that's what a lot of people are speculating. But it's all just guesses since no one knows for sure who found it. We only know that another millionaire has been made, ha ha ha."
The male player replied.
"True, but I think the person who found the treasure cave must be incredibly skilled, clever, have a strong group, and be very resourceful. Otherwise, there's no way they could have claimed the treasure!"
Even as he spoke, he could not help but grin internally, knowing he was one of those who had conquered a Pirate King's tomb before.
"Tch! Pirate King treasure isn't that interesting. Besides, only those in large guilds with lots of people stand a chance of getting it. Ordinary players like us probably won't even see its map!"
A female player nearby interjected, sounding displeased.
"That's not true. Ordinary players can claim the Pirate King's treasure too. If we keep our eyes and ears open and pay attention to what others overlook, we'll find plenty of surprises in this game."
Kimhant countered gently. The female player only made a small noise of discontent in her throat but did not argue further.
"You talk like you've found a Pirate King's tomb yourself, kid!"
The male player remarked, chuckling.
"Oh, come on, look at me. How could someone like me ever get the chance to find a Pirate King's tomb!"
Kimhant quickly waved his hands, playing down the idea.
"Exactly. With that clueless look, there's no way you'd survive long enough to reach a tomb full of danger!"
The female player chimed in, taking the opportunity to mock him further. The male player laughed heartily, while Kimhant stood there smiling with a twitching mouth, silently vowing to himself that if he ever saw this woman again, he would tattle to his master.
After chatting a bit more, Kimhant excused himself, unable to tolerate the woman's sarcastic comments any longer. The male player, who also had not encountered such a sharp-tongued woman before, quickly followed suit, taking his leave along with Kimhant.
.....
Chang Long watched the Evil High Priest Beast King, who stood laughing from within the mirror. Whatever skill it was using, it was clearly causing her quite a bit of frustration, as she could not seem to harm it at all. She decided to temporarily ignore the Evil High Priest, allowing it to flee from her dark wraiths, which relentlessly pursued it through the mirror's reflections wherever it ran.
Chang Long then approached the only silver-haired woman sealed within the mirrors. Her seal was different from the others; while the other women trapped in the mirrors could not move at all, as if they were frozen in place, Murik could at least move her eyes, which seemed to be on the verge of opening.
"Murik,"
Chang Long whispered softly. Slowly, the silver-haired woman's cold, gray eyes began to open. Chang Long saw that Murik was extraordinarily beautiful, with large, round eyes, a petite nose, and a delicate mouth. Her pale skin resembled that of Kearick and Cedric. She was dressed in a black and gray leather outfit, almost like a suit, with a bat-wing bowtie at her collar. The back of her coat extended down to her knees, and her pants, matching in pattern, were slightly fitted, accentuating her long, slender legs. She wore knee-high leather boots adorned with zippers and silver studs, adding a stylish touch.
Murik's attire made Chang Long wonder if she might be a tomboy, but as Murik, now fully awake, fixed her gaze on Chang Long and spoke for the first time, Chang Long nearly fainted from shock.
"My lord..."
The voice was not exactly deep, but it was unmistakably male. Chang Long could not help but blurt out the question that had suddenly come to her mind.
"Murik, um... are you... gay?"
The question left everyone in stunned silence—Murik, Cedric, and even the Evil High Priest, who stood with his mouth agape within the mirror. Chang Long herself wondered if she had said something wrong, given the collective shock.
"Wah~ My lord, you're so cruel. You promised you wouldn't tease me like this again. It's only been a hundred years, and you've already forgotten the promise you made to me!"
Murik cried out loud. Chang Long was left speechless, while Cedric sighed in exasperation, and the Evil High Priest's jaw seemed to drop even further in astonishment.
"So, you're a man? Physically and mentally a man?"
Chang Long asked again, still confused by the fact that one of the Four Reaper Guardian was this tearful.
"Sniff... Yes, I'm one hundred percent male. If you don't believe me, you can ask Cedric!"
Murik sniffled before replying.
"Hehe, Murik's only flaw is that he's a bit of a crybaby. Otherwise, he's a man through and through,"
Cedric quickly confirmed, seeing Chang Long's skeptical expression.
"Uh-huh, alright. Let me unseal you first,"
Chang Long said, cutting her palm and pressing it against Murik's mirror. The blood spread across the surface, covering it entirely, before being absorbed by the large carnelian stone set in Murik's bracelet. The mirror gradually dissolved, and Murik's form gracefully stepped onto the ground.
"My lord!"
Murik knelt in respect before Chang Long. She smiled at the pretty young man in front of her before turning her attention to the blonde women still sealed in the mirrors.
"How can I free them?"
Chang Long pondered aloud, walking among the beautiful women who stood motionless with their eyes closed, their faces showing a sorrowful longing as if desperate to escape their confinement.
"You'd have to kill me, of course, but too bad. Even if you destroy the mirrors, I won't be harmed, and you can't enter the mirror, which is my domain. Heh, ha ha ha!"
The Evil High Priest taunted, his voice filled with mockery. He then, appeared in the mirror of the blonde woman before Chang Long, wrapping his arms possessively around her.
"Uh-huh, I can't enter,"
Chang Long acknowledged with a nod. She then glanced over at Murik and Cedric, who stood nearby, waiting for her command. The two young men exchanged knowing smiles with her before quickly leaping into the mirror.
"This can't be!"
The Evil High Priest shrieked in disbelief as Murik and Cedric effortlessly entered his domain. Now, he was outnumbered by two of the Four Reaper Guardians, whose power levels were dependent on their master's. The Reaper Guardians' levels were always ten levels lower than their master's and decreased incrementally by five levels. At Chang Long's current level of 65, Kearick had the strength of level 55, another unknown Guardian at level 50, Cedric at level 45, and the youngest, Murik, at level 40.
Cedric faced the level 99 Evil High Priest with a smile, holding his Blood Ruby Sword firmly in hand. Beside him, Murik raised his arm, adorned with a large gold bracelet featuring a big orange-red gemstone, leveling it with his chest. He softly called upon his weapon.
"Carnelian Bow!"
Murik's bracelet quickly disassembled, transforming into a stunning golden bow with the carnelian gemstone set in the center. Chang Long watched in awe, excited by the sight of Murik's bow. It was the first transforming weapon she had encountered in the game—a rare item that many players coveted.
"My lord, please destroy the other mirrors to cut off this one's escape route,"
Cedric relayed to Chang Long, who nodded in agreement and commanded her wraiths to destroy all the mirrors except for those within the circular chamber.
With just a gentle touch, each mirror shattered into dust, leaving the Evil High Priest with no escape. He stood there, drenched in sweat, awaiting his inevitable demise.
"I've wasted enough time on you, you freak. Time to die!"
Chang Long declared. As her words echoed through the chamber, Murik released an arrow formed from his mana. The arrow flew through the air with incredible speed and struck the Evil High Priest right in the chest. However, with massive level difference, the attack only severely injured the Evil High Priest, not killing him outright, even though the arrow had hit a critical spot.
Cedric swiftly closed the distance between himself and the Evil High Priest, slashing his sword across the creature's neck. Blood gushed out, but even then, the Evil High Priest refused to die. Murik had to shoot another precise arrow at the same spot, and only then did the system announce the Evil High Priest's death, alongside the other monsters that Chang Long and her pets had slain, marking the completion of the secret mission.
"Player Chang Long and pets have slain 32 level 52 Hyena Beasts, earning 376,000 experience points. Slain 15 level 36 Hyena Pup Beasts, earning 83,250 experience points. Slain 18 level 42 Heretic Priests, earning 135,900 experience points. Slain 21 level 40 Cursed Scribes, earning 141,750 experience points."
"Player Chang Long has slain the level 99 Evil High Priest Beast, earning 463,750 experience points, 998,415 coins, 20 large pure gold ores, 25 medium pure gold ores, 32 small pure gold ores, and 1 pair of special-grade daggers. Player Chang Long has completed the secret mission Cleansing the Great Temple of Amun-Ra. You may claim your reward from Pharaoh Khafre at the Sky Palace."
"Player Chang Long has fulfilled the basic requirements for leveling up, advancing to level 66. Player Chang Long has fulfilled the basic requirements for beginner profession. Swift Movement Skill advanced to level 61, Evasion Skill advanced to level 57, Pet Hulu advanced to level 52."
"Player Chang Long has progressed 90% in the mission to find the Four Reaper Guardians. Murik, one of the Four Guardians has been released. Receiving a special weapon Carnelian Bow. Since the Carnelian Bow is a Transform weapon, it is in the form of a bracelet."
The system's announcement nearly made Chang Long faint. She collapsed into the Evil High Priest's chair after summoning Hisa-chan out of her body, then looked around to observe the changes in the Great Temple.
"Master! All the monsters just disappeared!"
Hulu rushed in, panting, and quickly reported the situation outside the mirror chamber.
"Uh-huh, I noticed,"
Chang Long replied, glancing at the women in the mirrors, who were now awake and frantically pounding on the glass that had imprisoned them. Hulu and Kitsune looked startled by the sight, but after Chang Long explained the situation, Hulu quickly came up with an idea to help the women.
