The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 279: Sorry You're Going to Die!

"Of course I recognize this Mr. Chen," Sun Doudou announced, a smirk playing on his lips. "At the airport, he tried to sell my grandfather fake medicine. I never imagined he'd have the gall to show up at a party like this! Let me warn all of you," he continued, his voice rising, "if this Mr. Chen tries to sell you anything later, be extremely careful. It's all fake! Take it, and you might just stop breathing!" At this, Sun Doudou burst into loud laughter, throwing a provocative glance at Chen Zheng.

Upon hearing this, many guests instinctively took a step back, the disdain in their eyes intensifying. Murmurs rippled through the crowd.

"I can't believe it. The guy is a con artist selling fake medicine!"

"How did someone like that get into such a high-end party?"

"This is so embarrassing! To think Miss Zixuan's husband is that kind of person!"

Listening to the gossip, Wei Zixuan's face turned crimson. She couldn't fathom how her husband had suddenly been branded a fraud who sells fake medicine.

Zhang Ming shook his head and whispered, "Zixuan, Mr. Chen must have followed you here because he was worried about you, right? But this really isn't the right occasion for someone of his... status. Maybe you should persuade him to leave quickly, before the gossip gets any worse."

Clenching her fists, Wei Zixuan's expression darkened. "Chen Zheng, come with me," she hissed, beckoning him to the side.

"Are you ever going to stop this, Chen Zheng? I already told you, being with Director Zhang is strictly for work! What do you think you're doing following me here?" she demanded, her face contorting with anger. "Do you not trust me at all? Do you really think I would betray you?"

In her eyes, Chen Zheng was being incredibly disrespectful, acting like some middle schooler who had never been in a relationship.

"Can I get a word in?" Chen Zheng said, slowly shaking his head. "I came here for something else today. I honestly didn't expect to see you."

Just then, his ears twitched. He snapped his head in a certain direction, spotting a man in a light-blue suit who glanced around furtively before hurrying toward the lounge area.

"Not because of me?" Wei Zixuan huffed. "And you expect me to believe that? Don't think I don't know what you're up to, but let me tell you, this pestering might work on naive young girls, but it means nothing to me! If you want me to forgive you..."

"Honey, I have to take care of something right now," Chen Zheng cut in, not letting her finish. He immediately turned and headed straight for the lounge area.

"Chen Zheng, I wasn't finished talking to you... you..." Wei Zixuan glared, speechless with fury.

The nerve of him! He has such a temper now. She hadn't even finished speaking, and he just ran off?

As soon as Chen Zheng reached the lounge area, Zhao Feng and Xu Da hurried over.

"War God!"

"Brother-in-law..."

Clearly, the arrival of those two individuals had also caught their attention.

"Who was just in the lounge?" Chen Zheng asked.

"Miss Feng!" Xu Da immediately replied.

"That must be Miss Feng's dressing room! I should be the one to go!" Xu Da said, his expression full of tension.

Chen Zheng slowly shook his head. "You and Zhao Feng stay in the main hall. Keep a close watch on the people from the Alliance."

With those words, he headed for the dressing room. Things were unfolding exactly as he had predicted. The people from the Alliance were just a feint. The real group planning to make a move on Feng Yueyue was someone else entirely.

When Chen Zheng arrived at the dressing room, two burly men were standing guard at the door.

"Sir, this is Miss Feng's dressing room. Please leave immediately!" The two men were bodyguards from the Feng Family, and their expressions turned vigilant upon seeing Chen Zheng approach.

"You should know who I am," Chen Zheng said casually. "I'm currently responsible for the entire Feng Family's security. Now, step aside."

"Our apologies, Mr. Chen," one of the bodyguards replied, "but Miss Feng was very clear. She strictly forbids your people—especially that simpleton—from coming within two meters of her. Please don't make things difficult for us."

Chen Zheng's brow furrowed. He hadn't expected Feng Yueyue to post two bodyguards, not for her own safety, but specifically to keep Xu Da away.

"My apologies," Chen Zheng said, shaking his head. With a slight flick of his finger, the two bodyguards slumped to the ground, unconscious. He then pushed the door open and stepped inside.

In the room, a woman was slipping into a purple formal dress. The zipper on the back was still undone, revealing a large expanse of her snow-white skin.

Chen Zheng immediately averted his gaze.

"Xiaoyu, is that you? Come help me with this zipper," Feng Yueyue called out, assuming it was her assistant. "Hurry, the reception is about to start, and I'm one of the hosts!"

Chen Zheng paused. He glanced toward the window, his brow furrowing, before stepping forward and pulling up the zipper on her dress.

"What's wrong with you today? Why so quiet..." Feng Yueyue began, slowly turning her head. The moment she saw who it was, she froze, her face instantly flushing crimson. "How did you get in here? Who let you in?!"

"Now, now," Chen Zheng chuckled softly, "let's not forget you were the one who just asked me to come help with your zipper."

"You... you pervert!" Feng Yueyue shrieked, furious and utterly humiliated. "I thought you were my assistant! Do you have any idea how illegal this is? Believe me, if I call the police right now, I'll make sure you rot in jail for the rest of your life!"

Her dress wasn't even fully on... Did that mean this man had seen everything? The thought made her seethe with a rage so intense she could barely breathe.

"You can call the police anytime," Chen Zheng said calmly. "But right now, there are more pressing matters to deal with."

"What are you trying to do?"

Ignoring her, Chen Zheng kept his eyes fixed on the window. "My friend," he said softly, "how much longer are you going to hide? Don't think for a second I haven't seen you."

"I thought I was being careful enough. I can't believe you still spotted me."

"That just means you're out of luck," a voice replied. Just then, the man in the light-blue suit slowly emerged from behind the window curtains. In his hand was a pistol fitted with a silencer, aimed directly at Feng Yueyue.

"Who are you?" Feng Yueyue stammered, her face turning deathly pale. "What... what do you want?"

She was staring down the barrel of a gun. One wrong move, and she could die right here.

"My apologies, Miss Feng," the man said, a cold smirk touching his lips. "Someone has paid for your life."

He then fired the gun…
