SSS Class Mythic Beast Master

Chapter 359: History Institution

Reinhard nodded slowly, understanding dawning. "So you haven't heard anything similar to what I described? About Ymir, Adumala, and Surtr?"

Midas's expression shifted, the enthusiastic joy melting into something more somber. He sighed, shaking his head. "Unfortunately, no. Which is why it's such a joy to hear about what you've dreamed." He paused, then his eyes lit up again like someone remembering something wonderful. "Could you repeat what you told Celestia and Rosaria?"

He pulled a journal from inside his black-white coat, a leather-bound book that looked well-used, its pages bulging slightly from extensive notes. A pen appeared in his other hand as if by magic, already positioned and ready to write.

Reinhard hummed thoughtfully, then he began repeating his account. Describing the dreams from Odin, the dream of creation, the roles of Ymir, Adumala, and the being now called Surtr.

All the while, Midas wrote frantically. His pen scratched across the paper with impressive speed, creating lines of text that flowed like water. The grin on his face widened with every passing minute, growing broader and more delighted with each new detail Reinhard provided.

His light golden eyes darted between Reinhard's face and the journal, drinking in information with the hunger of someone starving for knowledge.

When Reinhard finally finished, falling silent as his account concluded, Midas laughed in pure joy. "Everything about this is absolutely amazing!" He clutched the journal to his chest like a precious treasure. "This is why I love these creation stories! They always have the most stunning and awe-filled storytelling..."

He trembled with excitement, lifting his journal up high with a beaming grin splitting his face. His whole body seemed to vibrate with the thrill of discovery.

But then he paused.

His expression shifted, becoming more contemplative. He tilted his head, studying the words he'd just written with suddenly curious eyes. "Still..." His voice dropped, losing some of that manic enthusiasm and gaining something more thoughtful. "I do find it interesting that every creation story either has the death of a great figure or a murder. Every single one."

Celestia's eyes perked up immediately, her white-gold hair shifting as she straightened. "Even the one where they saw a blinding light forming everything? That one seemed more peaceful."

Midas hummed, a low sound in the back of his throat. His fingers traced the words in his journal as if reading through mental notes. "That one had a great killing later down the line, but in the end, it did spark the making of the world. The death came after the initial light, but it was still essential to the process."

Reinhard furrowed his brows, his mind working through the pattern Midas had identified. "Could it be because all creation stories require a death or murder as a spark for the next phase? Like... Is it a necessary component?"

Midas nodded slowly as he considered Reinhard's words. "That might be true. I didn't think creation stories had a script or way of ordering things, but it would make sense..." He trailed off, clearly following a thread of thought deeper into theoretical territory.

Rosaria spoke up, her crimson eyes narrowed in concentration. "The script idea makes even more sense when apparently the universe resets everything if one doesn't follow the right order. Like there's a correct sequence of events that must occur."

Midas nodded before his eyes widened as a new thought struck him. "This makes me wonder..." He looked around at each of them in turn, and his voice made everyone instinctively lean in. "Could it be that all these creation stories happened after each other? That each one occurred after the Universe reset once it deemed the previous order a failure?"

The words made everyone pause, and then silence descended on the medical room.

Reinhard's hand moved unconsciously to his chin, fingers caressing the line of his jaw as his mind raced. He thought about Mimir's words about relations and intersecting domains. About Beast Spirits sharing pieces of the same powers and relation to each other. About how everything seemed connected in ways that weren't immediately obvious.

What if the domains themselves were different aspects of the universe? And what if those Beast Spirits were just taking up the aspects of the universe with every reset? The thought crystallized in his mind like ice forming on water. It was an idea combining what he'd learned in his dreams with everything Mimir had explained about intersecting powers and shared territories.

Yet he felt like he was still missing vast amounts of information. The pieces were there, but the complete picture remained frustratingly out of reach.

Midas sighed, breaking the silence. The sound was long and carried a mixture of satisfaction and frustration. "Regardless, this does add more information to our current understanding..." He closed his journal with a soft thump, pressing it against his chest again.

Celestia tilted her head. "Do you think we are also following the Universe's script? Like... Is everything we're doing already predetermined?"

Midas furrowed his brows at that question as his expression shifted between concerned and wonderful. A gentle smile touched his lips, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Who knows..." The words were quiet, almost sad.

Then his gaze shifted, focusing directly on Reinhard with renewed intensity. "But maybe this is why your crow Mimir mentioned learning about the world first. Maybe understanding the pattern is essential before making choices."

Rosaria crossed her arms, her silvery-lavender hair falling over her shoulders as she leaned against the wall. "Maybe other civilizations also learned about the wrong things first and made a decision that led to their downfall."

Midas sighed again, deeper this time. "Regardless, I hope we aren't heading toward ours." His voice carried genuine concern beneath the scholarly interest. Then he seemed to shake himself, pushing away darker thoughts. "But moving on from this. I will send a notice to the Information Institution. I'm guessing you should receive at least four hundred school points for this information."

Reinhard's eyes lit up immediately; that many points from this and Eastern Hesod would guarantee he would win the ranking.

Celestia giggled, her hand rising to cover her smile. "It seems a new history will be made this year."

Midas chuckled warmly, nodding his agreement. "But it's deserved. I can't wait to see what else you will do or where you'll go. The Three of Swords group never disappoints."

Rosaria sighed, the sound carrying long-suffering exasperation. "Don't encourage him."

Both Midas and Celestia laughed at that.
