The world was plunged into disbelief!
When the news that was impossible to contain or keep secret after two weeks of frantic attempts spread like wildfire across continents.
The entire Hesod continent learned first, the information racing through cities and towns faster than any messenger could travel. Then it jumped across waters to the Aya Continent, where people gathered in squares and marketplaces to hear the impossible proclamation read aloud.
The Binah Continent received the news through shipping channels and merchant networks, traders spreading the word at every port.
Finally, the Frontair Continent, distant but connected through diplomatic channels, heard the announcement that would reshape their understanding of what was possible.
Eastern Hesod, once considered hopeless, once written off as a dead zone beyond salvation, had been freed from the Dark Silence.
In taverns across Hesod, people stopped mid-drink, their mugs frozen halfway to their lips as the announcement was made. In noble courts, aristocrats who prided themselves on composure showed shock on their faces.
In Beast Master academies throughout the continents, students and professors alike ceased their activities to stare at newspapers bearing impossible news.
The Dark Silence had been a terrifying disaster that people spoke of in hushed, fearful tones. It had produced roots that spread like cancer across Eastern Hesod.
It had contaminated water sources, turning clear streams into poisonous sludge that knocked out anyone who drank from them. It had created Night Terrors, twisted things that attacked anything that moved after sunset.
Most devastating of all, it had closed off the entire Eastern part of the Hesod continent behind an impenetrable wall of those writhing roots, sealing away what had once been a prosperous land.
That same disaster had destroyed the entire Forerunner Kingdom. The First Kingdom was established in Hesod, the strongest Kingdom that had existed three centuries ago, a civilization that had stood as a beacon of advancement and power.
Such a Kingdom was brought down by the Dark Silence, with only its surviving people and ruins remaining.
After the fall of such a Kingdom, after watching many failed attempts, and many people being taken by the root. Many people had seen it as a dead zone, one that was hopeless and would remain covered in roots.
What hope did anyone have against something that could destroy the mighty Forerunners? The constant failures of the Seekers and Precursors, groups specifically dedicated to reclaiming Eastern Hesod, only reinforced that hopelessness.
Three centuries passed with no progress. Generations lived and died knowing that part of their continent was simply lost.
But now?
Now the world learned that the Dark Silence was not only destroyed. But it had been accomplished with help from the Luminous Knights from the Aya Continent.
This detail shocked people almost as much as the Dark Silence's defeat itself.
Why would another continent's faction come to help the Seekers? What interest did the Aya Continent have in Hesod's problems? Political analysts and scholars immediately began speculating about alliances, about debts owed, about secret agreements that must have been negotiated behind closed doors.
But if that revelation wasn't enough to stagger the world's collective understanding, there was more.
The Saint himself had stepped in.
The Saint, the legendary leader of the Luminous Knights, is a figure spoken of with reverence and awe. Someone whose power was considered nearly mythical had personally involved himself in Eastern Hesod's liberation.
Stories spread quickly about his presence, each retelling adding new details, some true and others embellished beyond recognition.
According to the official announcement, the Saint and the First Ancestor Vlad, working alongside the Luminous Knights and Seekers, had coordinated their efforts to finally end the Dark Silence.
Together, through unity and sacrifice and determination, they had accomplished what three centuries of attempts had failed to achieve. They had fully freed Eastern Hesod, making it possible for that region to finally move on from its tragic past and begin catching up to the rest of the world.
The reaction was immediate and overwhelming.
Merchant guilds held emergency meetings, their leaders shouting over each other as they argued about strategies and opportunities.
Maps were spread across tables, routes were planned, and investments were calculated. Eastern Hesod represented untapped potential, a land that hadn't seen trade in centuries, resources that hadn't been harvested, markets that didn't exist yet but would need everything.
Noble houses dispatched representatives before the ink had dried on the announcements. Carriages bearing family crests rolled toward Eastern Hesod in long convoys, each house desperate to establish presence before their rivals could claim the best positions. Letters were written and sent by the hundreds, offers of partnership, requests for meetings, and proposals for development projects.
Other organizations, such as adventurer guilds, construction companies, and banking institutions, all mobilized with startling speed. Everyone wanted a foothold in Eastern Hesod before it was too late, before all the opportunities were claimed by those who moved faster.
Even the Mori Empire, powerful and usually deliberate in its actions, moved with uncharacteristic urgency. Beast Masters in golden and black armor were dispatched in organized units.
Officially to help with security and stabilization, but everyone understood they were also there to ensure the Mori Empire's interests were represented in Eastern Hesod's rebirth.
The First Ancestor Vlad, alongside his Seekers, and with continued support from the Luminous Knights. Found himself suddenly negotiating with dozens of factions simultaneously. Noble representatives, merchant princes, military commanders, all of them wanting meetings, wanting agreements, and wanting assurances.
But Vlad proved equal to the challenge. He and his advisors worked tirelessly, meeting with each faction and coming to compromises that balanced Eastern Hesod's needs with outside interests.
The arrangement they established was elegant in its simplicity.
In exchange for helping to develop Eastern Hesod by providing supplies, workers, expertise, and investment. These outside factions would be allowed to establish a presence and participate in the region's growth. They could open businesses, purchase property, employ locals, and benefit from Eastern Hesod's recovery.
But there were conditions.
The Seekers and Precursors would maintain oversight. Local people would be prioritized for employment and leadership positions. Development would be coordinated to prevent exploitation. Eastern Hesod would grow, but it would grow on its own terms, not as a colony for outside powers to strip and abandon.
And so, within weeks of the announcement, Eastern Hesod began transforming before the world's eyes.
Supplies arrived in constant streams. Wagons loaded with lumber, stone, tools, seeds, livestock, medical supplies, clothing, books, everything needed to rebuild a civilization. Workers such as craftsmen, builders, farmers, teachers, healers, and merchants, all seeking opportunity and adventure in this newly freed land, came by the thousands.
Normal people came too.
Not just workers, but families looking for fresh starts.
Seekers who'd left returned to their homeland with tears streaming down their faces. Precursors who'd never given up finally saw their dedication rewarded. Young people seeking their fortunes, old people wanting to witness history, everyone drawn to Eastern Hesod like moths to flame.
New towns rose from foundations that had been covered in roots and darkness for centuries. Buildings were being made that started out simple but quickly grew more elaborate as resources and expertise increased.
Cities that had been consumed began showing signs of reclamation. Their ancient streets cleared and repaired, their walls rebuilt, their plazas filled with life again.
The land itself seemed to respond to this renewal.
With the Dark Silence gone, with the corruption purged, Eastern Hesod began recovering. Water ran clear again, plants grew without twisted mutations, and animals returned to forests that had been dead zones.
The sun seemed to shine brighter there without the pale roots and towering tree blocking the light.
And through it all, the world watched in amazement, realizing that what had seemed permanently lost could be reclaimed.
That darkness, no matter how complete, could be pushed back. That hope, no matter how foolish it seemed, sometimes proved justified.
Eastern Hesod was free, and the world would never be quite the same.
