The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 333: Upcoming War

"Alright, fine, but if I catch you harassing my daughter or even trying to kill her next time…." My mother's voice suddenly darkened, and as I looked up, I just saw the silhouette of a demonic being with feathers looking straight at her target. "... I'll kill you. Got that?"

"Yes, ma'am~," The woman groaned before my mother's expression returned to normal, and she looked at me with warm eyes.

"Oh man… you're the most adorable daughter I could have ever asked for," She chuckled lightly before leaving the other woman behind and sitting down on her rightful throne, placing me in her lap.

"H-Hey… I-I'm not a kid anymore," I stuttered, but my mother didn't care as she just gently brought me closer into her embrace and let me nap once more, feeling the warmth of her body spread through me.

I've never been so happy in my life.

(Lucy POV)

The very next day, I went to check up on my daughter, who was apparently still sleeping, even after having what seemed to be a full day's worth of sleep.

"You're gonna make me feel bad," I let out a long sigh while crouching down next to her bed and then suddenly snapping my hand towards the shadow just along her bedpost.

"And you all… where the fuck were you?" I questioned the assassins who were supposed to be guarding my baby girl.

I could already have an idea as to what happened, but some of them must've been outside of her shadow, waiting to protect her at a moment's notice.

"W-We couldn't do anything, Mistress. The one's inside the shadows were trapped and drowned after only a few minutes. The ones outside had their shadows stolen and slaughtered immediately,"

"So then why are you still alive… lucky?"

"I-I ran-"

My hand pierced his heart, and as his head slowly hung downwards, I could see his life flash before his eyes just before his willowing soul left the room.

"*sigh*... Clean this up," I turned to Pol, my trustee servant and the only one I could truly rely on to get the job done.

"I apologize for hiring such horrible guards. I'll be sure to hire better ones in the future… with a more diverse selection of skills," She immediately replied, and as I sat down on the edge of the bed, she couldn't help but crawl to my feet and beg for forgiveness.

"I apologize, Mistress. Please punish me," She kotowed, but I wasn't in the mood to think over a punishment, so I just limply announced,

"Just clean this up. I'll give you the capital to hire some good people… use the emperor, if you will. Just make sure the job is done and perfect,"

"Y-Yes, Mistress," She stuttered before quickly picking up the corpse and dragging it out the room, some of her lackeys cleaning and sucking up the blood that had spilled.

And as I turned to my child, who was still asleep, a woman walked through the door, her eyes with an unwavering amount of seriousness.

"What's with the look?"

"They're planning another attack. But this time, they're not taking the Canadian front… but instead taking greenland. If they acquire Greenland, then they will be able to fuse organizations with the angels who have set up base," Celestine announced, causing my eyes to get cold as I got up from my bed and stretched a bit.

"And how are you sure they will take the Greenland front? Half of our budget is poured into maintaining that place. We've managed to keep them from completely connecting with our best soldiers… what makes you so sure they'll be able to break through now?"

"Because the apostles of light are meeting again. It seems they've finished what they've been trying to do… their temples have finally risen,"

"And we haven't destroyed them yet?! If those goddamn heroes manage to unite, this world is completely doomed. Everything we've worked for will be eradicated,"

But as Celestine stared at me with a cold gaze, I could already tell what she wanted to say.

"Whatever… so we weren't able to destroy them… then let's just destroy- wait a second… is this entire a thing trap for us?"

"That's what I was assuming. There is just enough power to fend off our armies while they do whatever they can in there. We've attempted to send assassins and spies, but all of them just go ghost on us. Either they've died, or something much worse has happened to them,"

As I leaned against the bedpost, I mulled over the situation, taking various ideas into account, and I knew this couldn't go without sacrifices.

"Then how about we do a big display? Bring lots of artillery and weapons made for countering mechs and set it up against the front. Bring at least a thousand soldiers to make it look like we are preparing our best… and then we will attack from the other side. Fuck killing the humans… we'll destroy this feathery sanctuary while they're so focused on attempting to two-way our front,"

"I've already thought of that. I was just wondering if we were on the same page…."

"And you need my country's technology, am I right?"

"Indeed. I need at least a few thousand tanks and lots of anti-mech artillery. We'll even set up a few UAVs to scout the area, just to really sell it,"

"Then I'm gonna tap into your bank account. That's gonna cost a shit ton of money, and I'm not paying for all of that…. Especially since the world dollar is highly inflated as of now,"

"Don't worry, everybody is helping to pay. Just make sure they're done, and I'll contact Aria and Amanda if you need any help,"

"That would be wonderful. Their supersoldiers will be useful in taking our objective… just don't waste them on the front, which will get demolished,"

"Don't worry, I'm not that dumb," she chuckled and just as she was about to leave, she quickly turned back towards me and said, "We're having a meeting together for the first time in a few years. Bring your daughter as your advisor. She could use the experience,"
