SSS Ranked Awakening: Starting With My Limitless Cosmic Shadow System

Chapter 0096: Modret vs Half-human

'Fairy,' he called out warmly to the system he hadn't called in a long while.

A spark of blue light only visible to Modret appeared in his line of sight, revealing the figure of the fairy.

{Finally decided to call me, huh?}

Although Modret was surprised that she hadn't increased in size in the slightest, he didn't think too deeply on it.

That aside, it was obvious that the fairy had completely healed from using so much of her Luck Essence the previous time in the Endless Abyss.

A faint smile tugged at Modret's lips as he glanced at the familiar little creature, hearing her voice filled with tease and cheekiness.

'Fairy, we… have some treasures to steal.'

{Stealing? What's been going on? Where are you?}

It took the fairy a short while to recollect herself upon noticing where Modret had ended up, after all it hadn't even been long since she went to recover.

'When did you stop reading my memory and thoughts?' Modret didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

The fairy rolled her eyes and then scanned through Modret's memories, ultimately realising what had led to the current situation.

{So greedy for treasures.}

Modret heard her exclaim with a sigh, causing a wry smile to appear on his face.

'It's not as bad as you think…' Modret tried to explain, but the fairy just interrupted.

{I read through your memories. Of course I know it isn't as bad. Now, you most likely want me to go and check out the location of the treasure since no one can see me, right?}

'You know me too well,' Modret said with a light laugh.

{Alright. Anything else to look out for?}

'Nothing much. You should know the important details to look out for, like the level of strength there and how tough the defence is. There's also the chances of leaving this place alive…'

Modret continued listing a few things, and the fairy noted them down in her mind.

After Modret was done, she flew out of the cell, and Modret closed his eyes and lay down casually.

To his cell mates, it seemed as though Modret had accepted his fate, but only Modret knew the terrifying plan he had in mind.

If his plan was successful, there was a high chance that he would be able to leave the place with a lot of the treasures.

Just as Modret was basking in his joy, a faint rustle attracted his attention.

"Heard one of ya was brought just today…" The moment the awakened beasts stepped into the dungeon, one of them spoke in a gruff voice.

Modret's head snapped in the direction, and he cursed internally, 'Shit.'

The gazes and hand gestures of all the half-humans pointed in the direction of Modret's cell, to his location in particular, and Modret knew he couldn't escape the fate of fighting.

'How fucking disturbing.' Knowing that there was no escaping the situation, Modret stepped out calmly from the cell.

He could feel the gazes of the half-humans, his cell mates, on him, and he could tell that they were wondering if he would survive his first fight against a half-human.

Modret smiled wryly, the wings from the Elemental Sovereign Form flapping gently behind him as he stepped out from the cell.

The two awakened beasts turned to him, their expressions filled with menace.

Modret didn't mind and immediately followed behind them.

There were loud cheers coming from the arena, but the moment he was brought from the cell, the cheers died down.

Due to them not knowing him, it was obvious they didn't cheer for him. Rather, the attention of the awakened beasts remained fixed on the other half-human.

Modret turned towards his opponent, who had been chosen at some point in time.

He raised a brow in surprise. This would be the first time he would be facing a creature in the Universe Realm all by himself.

Modret turned his attention to another awakened beast that seemed like a large bird.

It stood at the edge of the platform and let out a whistle to commence the battle between the two half-human beasts.

Modret's opponent was a burly middle-aged man with dark-bronze skin, and black fur surfaced on his hands.

His hands were two times larger than normal, radiating an intense pressure, and Modret could sense the devastating might being radiated from those hands.

'That should be his unique trait…' Modret guessed internally.

An expression of ferociousness appeared in the eyes of the half-human as he stomped his foot on the ground and jumped towards Modret.

The ice ground caved in the moment he stomped his foot, causing a chill to permeate into the surroundings from the stage.

Modret stabilized himself, scanning the movements of the half-human through his eyes.

The burly man appeared before him in a blink.

After all, even though he didn't specialize in speed, the physical enhancements brought about by stepping into the Universe Realm were enough to cause his speed to rival someone specializing in speed at just the Galaxy Realm.

His speed matched Modret's own instantly.

After all, Modret couldn't use his lightning ability.

Not that he couldn't, but he wouldn't. He was saving it as a trump card to use in the final battle when he was escaping.

Aside from that, he didn't want to reveal too many uniquenesses about himself, after all he could already hear faint murmurs about how "different" his wings were.

As he contemplated all these things, the burly man was already upon him, his massive fist looming over him as though it would strike him instantly and turn him into meat paste.

Modret managed to dodge to the side at the last moment and send a jab flying in his direction.

Black flames erupted on his fist the moment he struck the half-human.

Bang!

The flames pierced through the man's chest, sending him crashing a few meters from Modret.

Modret raised his gaze to meet the half-human, whose eyes were filled with horror.

At this moment, the awakened beasts who were watching the fight without any excitement, already having concluded the winner, were stupefied, staring at Modret as though they were looking at a monster.

The fire continued burning fiercely, and upon noticing that it had already even begun melting the ice on the stage, Modret immediately retrieved his black flames.

The whole place remained eerily calm, and Modret stayed in the same position as though he hadn't done anything at all.

Finally, the Bull-Demon from before called out calmly.

"Winner… number 854."
