Looking around herself as she slowly drifted forward on top the dream jellyfish, Scaly found herself becoming increasingly amazed by the countless unique lifeforms that existed within the dreamscape, as outside of the dream jellyfish, there were several other dreamscape monsters capable of traversing the sky of the dreamscape.
Although most of those dreamscape monsters were far weaker than her in terms of strength, she understood full well that she would stand no chance of fighting them in the sky of the dreamscape as her strength would be severely limited by her inability to move around. Making her grateful that she had ended up taking the dream jellyfish taxi service, as it not only helped her traverse the sky of the dreamscape, but also helped stop any of the dreamscape monsters that might have normally attempted to attack her. Not because the dream jellyfish was a deadly hunter, but because the tentacles that were dragged along with it could easily hit any dreamscape monster that reckless approached.
In fact, she had already seen a few curious dreamscape monsters who might originally have wanted to target her to get caught by one of those long tentacles being dragged along by the dream jellyfish. Soon enough, they were tangled up and dragged up into the dream jellyfish where they were consumed a few seconds later. The entire process made it clear why the dream jellyfish wasn't to be messed with, as those tentacles seemed to carry some kind of extremely potent poison that had almost instantly incapacitated the dreamscape monsters unlucky enough to get tangled up in the tentacles.
As for how those dreamscape monsters had ended up being caught up in the tentacles that were dragged along by the dream jellyfish? That was because the tentacles themselves were almost entirely see-through and blended in with the sky of the dreamscape itself. Making it difficult to notice all of them.
Scaly herself hadn't realized just how many tentacles nor how far down some of them reached before she saw a dreamscape monster more than twenty meters below getting caught by one of those seemingly invisible tentacles that drifted forward alongside the dream jellyfish. Once again, making it clear why there was a seemingly dead space around the other dream jellyfish, as the natives of the dreamscape clearly understood the danger of recklessly approaching these peaceful giants floating through the dreamscape.
Outside of this renewed understanding of just how dangerous the dream jellyfish truly were, Scaly also got her first look of the floating continent that she was slowly moving closer to with each passing minute.
Not only was the part of the floating continent she could see from her current position covered in a large forest with several smaller mountains poking up here and there, but more importantly, she could also see dozens of unique dreamscape monsters that she had never seen before wandering around on the floating continent below, several of which had strength far exceeding that of the dream grazer she had killed not too long ago.
Among them, she even noticed a few that made her feel a sense of apprehension. Making it clear that there was no lack of powerful dreamscape monsters living on the floating continent. Meaning she wouldn't have to worry about finding monsters to hunt down in the future after she got to the floating continent.
However, as she got closer to the floating continent, she realized something she hadn't thought about ahead of time… And that was the simple fact that she had no idea how to reach the ground.
Originally, she had just wanted to jump off the dream jellyfish, but after seeing those countless long tentacles being dragged behind it, some of which even she couldn't see, she realized that just jumping off the dream jellyfish might end up joining those weaker dreamscape monsters who had been caught by the tentacles of the dream jellyfish earlier.
Jumping off and trying to remain stationary while the dream jellyfish moved out of the way wasn't exactly an option either, as it was clear that the dream jellyfish was slowly moving upwards to avoid the area covered by the continent where the restrictions brought on by the sky of the dreamscape wasn't present. Meaning those tentacles being dragged behind it would end ascending and catching her if she just tried to remain stationary while it passed by.
She could also wait for it to reach the highest point and stop ascending any further before then waiting for it to pass by, but the problem with that was the simple fact that she had no idea how long that would take… And the fact that the dreamscape monsters higher up were clearly far stronger than those she had encountered so far on her current level of the dreamscape.
Although she might avoid the tentacles of the dream jellyfish by staying with it until it reached the highest point, she wouldn't be able to avoid a potential attack from stronger dreamscape monsters that might take advantage of the situation to attack her.
The reason why she was confident in waiting for the dream jellyfish to move past at her current location was mainly because she was also confident that she would be able to endure the attacks of the nearby dreamscape monsters and potential even kill them in the short few minutes it would take the dream jellyfish to move past her.
But… With those tentacles now being a worry, she couldn't immediately figure out a path to safely reaching the floating continent.
Luckily, she had already seen this problem ahead of time and had at least another half hour to think of a solution before a decision had to be made.
Problem was, even the solution she ended up coming up with, jumping to the side instead of waiting for it to pass by. Turned out to not be a solution, as the tentacles of the dream jellyfish spread out in a large area covering between twenty and thirty meters around the dream jellyfish.
And after that one idea ended up collapsing, Scaly found herself unable to think about any other solution to the problem that she found herself facing.
In the end, as only twenty minutes remained until a decision on what to do had to be made before the dream jelly fish almost certainly began a sharp ascension to go over the protective space around the floating continent, Scaly found herself looking up at another floating island above her head that the dream jellyfish was almost brushing up against as it continued its slow ascension while moving forward towards the floating continent still a little over eight hundred meters away from her current location.
And although she didn't want to give up a chance to reach the floating island, she ultimately had to give up on continuing forward into what would almost certainly turn into a life and death situation-
Whoosh~!
Jumping off the back of the dream jellyfish before climbing up the bottom of the floating island that she almost brushed her head up against. Finding the all-encompassing pressure of the dreamscape sky disappearing in the process. Making it simple enough for her to crawl along the underside of the floating island back up to the surface before the dream jellyfish passed by her and its tentacles ended up brushing against her.
Problem now was that although she had managed to get closer to the floating continent, she was still too far away to reach it on her own without comprehending some method or technique to move through the sky of the dreamscape. Only able to sit on the edge of the new small floating island she found herself on top of, while watching the dream jellyfish drift towards the floating continent in the process.
However, just as she was about to turn around and start exploring this new small floating island, she realized that one of the tentacles of the dream jellyfish seemingly began moving erratically for a few seconds before the dream jellyfish that had been gliding through the air peacefully began to suddenly ascend rapidly. Resulting in the tentacle acting erratically calming down again, as the dream jellyfish once again resumed its peaceful ascension.
Although not certain, Scaly put two and two together and realized that the reason for this erratic behavior should have been the tentacle accidentally entering the space that was under the protection of the floating continent and thus outside the sky of the dreamscape.
Originally, she had thought this space protected under the influence of the floating continent existed far closer to the floating continent, but she now realized that the area that would allow her to move freely was no more than a hundred meters away from the floating island she found herself on top of.
Even if it was still far away, she felt this should be a short enough distance that she could cross by slightly improving her movement through the sky of the dreamscape with the help of her dream magic.
