Chapter 161: After a Big Hunt

Risa stood up and told Ethan to sleep on the bed. She was sure that killing 112 lizard monsters must have been exhausting, even though she knew Ethan could kill them easily.

She sat on the sofa while eating her burger, the meal that was supposed to be her dinner. But because she had been so tired last night, she skipped it.

"What was Ethan really trying to do by hunting that many monsters last night?"

Hissy hissed. She only knew a few things, and she explained everything to Risa, and Risa was able to understand what Hissy said.

She knew about the Moon Fragment, but Risa did not know what the item was used for. In her opinion, Risa did not need to know details like that.

Ethan started sleeping at six in the morning and kept sleeping soundly until eleven. Risa could hold her hunger well. She could wait until Ethan woke up from his sleep.

The man woke up and saw Risa sitting on the sofa, looking to the side where the window curtains were open, showing the village road beside the inn.

"How long… was I asleep?" Ethan asked softly.

Risa turned right away and walked toward Ethan. She smiled and explained that Ethan had slept for five hours, starting from six in the morning.

Ethan nodded. He knew he had been very tired last night. Either way, he had gotten what he needed. The number of Crimson Slash swings he needed was getting close.

With the amount of time he had left, Ethan was sure he would finish the Talent Quest and raise his skill level up to level 50, just for Crimson Slash.

He hoped that after the sixth talent quest was finished, the second talent quest would appear so he could raise his skill level from 2 to 4 in Ashura Mode or all skills in Tempest Mode.

Ethan sat on the bed, looking at the open curtains and the many people walking along the village road.

Their goals were clear: to explore, hunt monsters, look for tower artifacts, and challenge the floor boss.

"Do you want to eat?" Risa asked.

"I still have some sliced meat. Maybe I'll grill it later after resting from the monster hunt."

Risa nodded. She would not refuse any food Ethan gave her. After she and Ethan were ready, they walked out of the village and headed north.

Ethan was very sure there was a place there to challenge the floor boss. He predicted the boss would be level forty with a lizard monster race.

For weapons, he did not know what kind of attacks the boss would have, whether long-range, close-range, or magic attacks.

Ethan and Risa walked away from the village. Sometimes they ran into lizard monsters ambushing them, all below level forty with not very significant abilities.

Ethan dashed forward, pushed their bodies back, and swung his Crimson Slash forward.

The skill hit each of the lizard monsters, killing them instantly.

Ethan killed all three lizard monsters in less than two minutes. A notification panel appeared in front of him after his Crimson Slash swings landed.

He had reached a total of 565 swings of Crimson Slash, leaving 235 more until the talent quest was fully complete. Ethan did not feel rushed. He still had 39 days left before the quest ended.

On the other side, Ethan also got EXP, Gold, and Contribution Points. The total contribution points he had collected must be a lot, plus the results from last night's hunt.

After finishing off the three monsters, Ethan and Risa continued walking along the dirt path to reach the location of the floor boss challenge.

They crossed paths with three groups of lizard monsters, with each group containing five monsters, all below level 40.

Risa wanted to help, right after Ethan finished killing them. Ethan turned and nodded. Allowing Risa to defeat the five monsters did not bother him at all.

He held back the monsters' attacks, keeping them from spreading apart. Risa stood still, her mouth whispering her spell to use her magic attack.

Soon, a red magic rune appeared and floated in the sky. A burning meteor shot forward. Ethan turned away. It was time for him to move away from the battle.

BLAST!

Explosions happened one after another, impressing Ethan. Red smoke rose at the battle site. Ethan could not see what was happening there.

He swung his sword to the side, clearing the smoke, and saw three of the five lizard monsters lying helpless on the ground.

The last two lizard monsters that were still alive targeted Risa, seeing her as one of their enemies. Ethan moved quickly, swinging his sword sideways and hitting their bodies.

A second explosion happened, crimson in color with red lightning flashing inside the smoke. The two lizard monsters were completely dead.

"How was it?" Ethan asked.

Risa smiled. She still felt lacking after seeing that her earlier attack could not instantly kill the lizard monsters the way Ethan usually did.

Ethan understood that it was normal for Risa to not be able to do instant kills. Besides their unusual leveling, the monsters also had unique power.

To do instant kills, she would need huge magic damage and a body that could adapt and so on.

Right now, Risa still could not do that. But Ethan was determined to help Risa grow stronger.

They continued walking along the dirt path, turning at the crossroads until they reached a wide clearing with a black castle standing in the center.

Many players were seen walking into the castle, planning to challenge the floor boss. Risa remembered the moment she first joined a floor boss challenge.

She had been fine, not a single attack from the boss monster was directed at her.

That made Risa feel hopeful that she would also be fine in this floor boss challenge. Ethan would protect her, even though Risa did not like being protected by Ethan all the time.

"Let me help you attack the boss monster this time, Ethan."

Ethan turned. Risa's face looked confident, as if she had a personal grudge against the second floor boss.

He could see from how the lizard monsters reacted when they were attacked by Risa. They saw her as an enemy.

If Risa helped Ethan attack the floor boss, the boss would detect her as an enemy, which meant Ethan would have to work harder to fight it and keep Risa safe.

"It's alright. I'll let you after I train you enough later."

"For now, I don't want to take the risk."

"I'll be the one focusing on defeating the floor boss."
