Chapter 166: Scavenger City

After holding off the monster's attack, Syifa and her party team immediately struck back using their combo.

Ethan and Risa watched closely, clearly seeing that their abilities had improved compared to before.

That was a good thing. They had learned from their past mistakes. If they didn't improve, Ethan doubted they could survive in this place.

Their fight lasted fifteen minutes. Syifa and her team took more damage than Risa. Ethan didn't help attack, so he didn't get any share.

Syifa smiled even though she looked a little tired. She turned and smiled at Ethan. Ethan knew what he had to do.

When the fight ended, Syifa's team and Ethan walked away from the area. They turned right at the crossroads and followed the dirt forest path heading north.

From time to time, they had to stop when another monster blocked their way, the same type as before. Syifa and her team looked ready, and so did Ethan and Risa.

"What are we going to do?" Syifa asked.

"I'm going to attack that monster now," Ethan replied.

"Help me, Risa."

Risa agreed. She pointed her magic staff forward and cast a spell to summon hands from the underworld.

A red magic rune appeared beneath the spider monster, creating two hands that grabbed its body tightly.

That made the black web spider powerless. It struggled to attack or break free. It became the perfect chance for Ethan to kill the monster.

He reached his hand forward and summoned the Bloodblade Ashura. Some of Syifa's team saw the moment.

They were always interested in watching the details of Ethan's changing abilities.

[Mode Ashura Activated]

Ethan's appearance changed, his hair turning crimson red and a surge of power spreading through his body.

They all smiled. This was the epic moment when Ethan would strike his enemy.

Ethan charged forward with his sword in his right hand. He swung his blade upward from below, sending out three crimson claw slashes that tore through the spider monster's body.

[Black Web Spider (Lv. 112) || HP: 12500/84000]

It wasn't enough. Ethan immediately spun and swung his sword sideways, releasing a wide crimson slash that carried a burst of lightning.

BLAST!

[Black Web Spider (Lv. 112) || HP: 0/84000]

The explosion from the crimson slash shook the air, sending a cloud of crimson smoke high into the sky. Risa jumped far from the battle area, and Syifa's team did the same.

[Talent Quest: Swing Skill 2 500 times]

[Count: 226/500] [Duration: 45:12:30:15]

[Congratulations! You obtained loot:]

[+9000 EXP || +5000 Gold || +5000 Contribution Points]

Ethan didn't get a Moon Fragment. Besides the fact that he already had enough for Luna's side quest, they also killed the monster during the day.

One monster was equal to 9000 EXP, 5000 Gold, and 5000 Contribution Points. Ethan knew how much LionArk's level would grow with a point amount that big.

If Ethan killed more black web spiders like that, it wasn't impossible for him to bring LionArk back to S rank.

That was a plan for later. For now, his main focus was reaching floor 50 and completing the side quest from the Blood-Cursed Tribe.

The monster was defeated. Ethan urged Syifa and the others to continue their journey.

Luckily, Syifa and the others didn't run into more monsters. Unfortunately for Ethan, he couldn't gain anything because there were no monsters around.

Their steps stopped when they reached the outer edge of the forest. They clearly saw a black castle with no parties around to challenge the floor boss.

That alone was enough to make Syifa and her party lose their courage. They felt they were not strong enough to defeat the floor boss.

That forced Ethan and Risa to part ways with them. They said their goodbyes. Syifa and her team went back into the forest, while Ethan and Risa headed to the Teleportation Crystal.

Since no one else was there, Ethan didn't need to wait in line to use the Teleportation Crystal.

After choosing the available floor destination, Ethan held Risa's hand and took her with him.

In the blink of an eye, Ethan was in the middle of a forest. This had happened before. Some Tower floors shared similar designs.

Ethan and Risa opened their eyes, looking around carefully. What they saw was a dense, green forest, no longer a dead forest.

"Where are we going?" Risa asked.

Ethan shook his head. There were four paths, each leading to a different direction. He couldn't decide which one they should take. All four looked the same to him.

"Maybe that way. Let's try it first," Ethan said. Risa nodded obediently.

They stepped onto the path leading east, since many towns or villages were usually built in the east or south.

Ethan had a feeling in his heart that he should try going east, though he didn't know what was waiting for him there.

From a distance, Ethan clearly saw a black city gate guarded by two men dressed entirely in black.

Ethan narrowed his eyes, pulled Risa's hand, and led her to hide behind the forest trees.

His attention stayed on the front, recognizing the flag waving above the city gate.

Scavenger!

They wouldn't let Ethan enter, especially with guards checking everyone at the gate. They would definitely inspect Ethan's individual system details.

If they found out he was from LionArk, everything would become dangerous.

There had to be another town besides Scavenger.

"We're going somewhere else," Ethan said.

"Huh? What's wrong with that city?"

"That city is dangerous for me and for you. We're going to another direction and hope there's a town that's safe for us," Ethan answered.

Risa could only nod even though she didn't know why Ethan wanted to leave that place. She assumed the city was full of enemies who hated Ethan.

Ethan and Risa walked away from there, returning to the teleport crystal and heading south to see if there was a town in that direction.

Before they could reach it, they stopped when they saw three lamia monsters approaching them threateningly.

Lamia monsters. Their lower bodies were snakes while their upper bodies were women. What shocked them more was that the lamia didn't cover their chests at all.

What was that? Monster bait for sexual desire?

Risa looked shocked, thinking lamia monsters had no manners. But a monster was still a monster. It couldn't talk or respond to Risa.

"Let me kill those three monsters!" Risa said firmly.

Ethan gently patted her shoulder, then smiled at her. Both of their eyes focused ahead, watching the lamia monsters charge toward them.

"We'll do it together!" Ethan said firmly.

"I'll help you, Ethan!"
