Reincarnated With The Degenerate System

Chapter 166: CH-166

One security guard, a man with a square jaw and a look of grim determination, got close, his pistol drawn but wavering as he peered through the swirling dust.

He saw my silhouette—the unnatural hunch of my shoulders, the green glint in my eyes, further twisted by my elongated nose and mouth.

"Monster—" he started, the word a choked from his trembling lips.

Before he could finish, I was on him. I didn't just run; I flowed, a blur of motion that defied physics.

My speed was a terrifying, explosive force, tearing the air itself.

I slammed into him, not with my hands, but with my shoulder. The sound was a wet, sickening crack as his spine shattered, and he was thrown back into the smoke like a discarded doll.

My target. Rockwell.

He was on his knees, coughing, his perfect suit torn and dusty.

It was the perfect moment to take him out. But a barrier erupted around me. A pane of shimmering golden light snapped into place, transparent yet solid as steel.

My claws shrieked as they tore across it, carving deep gouges, but it held for a split second. Long enough for help to come.

They moved as one. A woman crowned in silver hair carved the air with her hands, and the cold answered—thick lances of ice screaming toward me.

Next, the stage shuddered as a massive brute drove his fists down, stone tearing itself free and curling upward like living things, reaching for my legs.

'You think this is enough to stop me?' I sneered.

I let the monster take over. A guttural roar tore from my throat—a sound of pure, unrestrained wildness, announcing to the world that they were dealing with a one‑of‑a‑kind monster.

"AWOOOOO!" I howled, the sound itself a weapon.

Sonic blast shattered the spears of ice into a million glittering shards and cracked the concrete tendrils before they could reach me.

The pathetic display of their powers shattered before me, a whirlwind of destruction ripping through everything.

More and more Seekers came to stop me, but once I got more serious, they fell one after another. A single slash from my claw hit like a car barreling at 120 miles per hour.

The silver-haired woman was within reach. She tried to conjure another ice wall, but my speed overtook her. I grabbed her by the face, and lifted her from the ground.

"NOOOO!"

Her screams were muffled by my palm. With a snarl, I hurled her not at the ground, but at the hulking seeker.

He saw her coming, eyes wide with shock, and tried to brace himself, thinking he could catch her.

But he severely underestimated the throwing power of an S Rank with elongated arms and spring-like muscle fibers. When my joints snapped, the air itself exploded.

The force turned the unfortunate pair into a human cannonball. They slammed together with a wet, explosive crash—bone and flesh shredding on impact.

I really didn't want to kill this many people, but I had no choice.

There was no way they would stop attacking me. And even though I was more than capable of killing the senator without any collateral damage, that would defeat the purpose of the system's mission.

Besides, I couldn't afford to use any of my flashy shadow abilities, so I had to rely on raw strength alone.

Another barrier erupted around me. I looked up and spotted its source—a bald man, teeth clenched in concentration. The golden light began to contract, closing in, forcing me into a bad position.

I took a slow breath and drew on the Qi coursing through my body.

With minimal movement, both arms snapped forward, generating a burst of force like a one‑inch punch.

The barrier shattered into fragments. In the same motion, a chunk of stone ripped free from the ground. One throw was all it took—the impact crushed the man's skull instantly.

It was an easy win—too easy, to the point that it felt like cheating.

However that split second of distraction, the real threat acted. An unofficial S-Rank Seeker.

Green wind swirled around him, whipping dust into a furious vortex as he scooped the stunned Rockwell into his arms and flew skyward.

They were escaping.

'Not on my watch!'

My legs coiled, and with an earth-shaking roar, I shot upward.

Seeing me barreling toward him like a living missile, he reacted. A blade of concentrated wind, sharp as razor, lashed out at me.

It sliced across my ribs, a line of fire that cut through my fur and into the flesh beneath.

Compared to the dragon wind attack, this one lacked raw firepower.

But his control over wind was clearly on another level than the fan user. He could fly and maneuver effortlessly midair, while I had to jump, land, and bounce off buildings like a pinball.

Comparing the two was like comparing a man who could bend air a little to a man with access to an oversized electric fan.

"Die, you monster!" he roared, unleashing a gale far stronger than the last.

It slammed into me, but barely slowed me down.

As I closed in mid-air , I concealed a shard of glass in my palm and hurled it. Unfortunately, his natural wind barrier deflected most of it—I only managed to nick his cheek, blood dripping from the wound.

Seeing the fight growing more dangerous, he abandoned defense and boosted his speed to escape with the senator.

I, on the other hand, used the rooftops and even ran perpendicular to the windows to catch up, each landing shattering glass that rained down across the city below.

My flashy display was definitely working—the system's meter glowed hot red and rattled crazily, just like those HUDs in online mobile games designed to trick players into spending more for a shot at a better item.

Not gonna lie, it was working like magic on me, pushing me harder than ever.

BOOOM!

BOOOM!

BOOOM!

We traded blows—him trying to throw me off mid air, and me forcing my way through using pure momentum.
