Reincarnated With The Degenerate System

Chapter 167: CH-167

The chase stopped feeling like a tag and started feeling like a disaster tearing through the city.

He met me head-on. The air was his territory, every gust and blade under his complete control.

swoosh!

swoosh!

swoosh!

Blades of compressed air screamed past me, invisible until buildings began to break.

Windows exploded. Steel bent. Concrete ripped free as if the city were made of paper.

One strike hit a tower two blocks away. The building folded inward with a deep, hollow boom.

Floor after floor collapsed, sending rubble crashing down into the streets. Dust rose in a thick gray cloud.

Now I understood why S Ranks were never allowed to fight inside a city. Every step, every attack, turned the place into a death trap.

Another blade came from the side. I twisted in midair, but it still clipped my back. The force alone ripped through my fur and skin, and the shockwave hurled me through a billboard and straight into an office building.

People who were unlucky enough to be standing there—watching, recording—were killed instantly when my body smashed through the structure.

He killed more in that single attack than I had since the fight began. Thinking about it like that, it was hard to say which one of us was truly the monster.

crack!

I burst out the other side before I could fall, shards of glass spinning through the air behind me.

I could have ended this faster, but my mission meter wasn't full yet. I needed more impact.

The distant roar of helicopters echoed above, and soon a white news chopper appeared, hovering to observe me.

Perfect. Exactly what I wanted.

"Die, monster!" his voice thundered, trying to act like a hotshot now that he was being watched. Typical narcissist behavior. I knew it well—takes one to know one.

Five air blades rushed toward me at once. These weren't simple attacks. They spun and curved, layered with pressure, hunting me like living weapons.

I ducked under the first attack and smashed through the second with my shoulder. The third tore across my arm, but I ignored the pain, relying on the durability of my monstrous body to carry me through.

Then I kicked off hard. The concrete cracked, and the sound echoed like a cannon shot.

BOOOM!

We collided in midair. His wind barrier pushed back with brutal force, like trying to tear through a storm that was fighting back.

He grunted and flew backward, barely keeping control. At the same time, he twisted, shaping the wind around his arm. A sharp blade formed and shoot toward my throat

I caught it between my hands.

The vibration nearly shattered my arms. Blood sprayed as the spinning air cut into my palms.

Gritting my teeth, I twisted hard and broke the blade's balance.

It exploded between my hands, and threw us apart.

thud!

I crashed through several balconies, concrete and furniture bursting outward as alarms shrieked.

He recovered almost instantly, steadying himself in the air while keeping the senator tucked securely under his arm. Not gonna lie—he was doing an impressive job protecting his client.

I realized how badly I underestimated him. Even without a Celestial weapon, an S Rank was still an S Rank. That alone should have warned me.

Besides, his situational awareness was off the charts. He must have spent years in the field before retiring to be this sharp.

A slow grin spread across my face as my focus snapped into place.

There was only the fight now, and the certainty that I was finally done holding back.

The media was now covering the fight, and my mission meter was full. There was no need to push my luck any further.

I lowered my head and took a deep breath.

Qi flooded my body, hot and heavy, moving with my heartbeat.

Then my movement skill activated.

The city stretched out in sharp detail. I could even make out the individual blades of the helicopters' rotors—not because they had slowed physically , but because I was moving too fast.

SWOOOSH!

The rooftop exploded beneath me. The sound followed a second later.

His eyes widened as he raised his barrier, but I was already too close.

'Too late!'

His head separated from his body before he could react, spinning away as the wind around him died. His body followed, falling toward the streets below.

A second later, Rockwell hit a rooftop.

thud!

I landed moments later. The concrete cracked under my weight. Blood dripped from my claws as the sounds of sirens and helicopters swirled all around us.

"Stop...Who sent you here?" Rockwell coughed and pushed himself onto his knees. Dust covered his torn suit, but his eyes were filled with courage.

No answer came from my end. There was no need for words.

"You can kill me now," he met my gaze head on, "but my legacy won't end here. My dream for this country won't die with —"

I struck, refusing to let his words plant doubt in my mind or shake my resolve any further.

When it was over, I stood over his body, chest rising and falling. To be certain it was finished, I severed his head in one clean strike and tore out his heart.

Only then did I turn away. This was a dog-eat-dog world, and I couldn't afford to be soft just because of a few words.

'I need to escape quickly.'

With how messy everything had become, I knew it was only a matter of time before I got caught if I kept jumping from building to building.

Helicopters roared nonstop overhead, and the streets weren't safe either.

So I changed tactics.

I slipped into the sewer system, letting the darkness swallow me. The stench was awful, but it hid me well. I moved fast, following the tunnels until I found an exit beneath a residential apartment building.

Inside, I grabbed a plain set of clothes and a cap—nothing memorable. After cleaning myself as best I could, I blended into the crowd, keeping my head low to avoid the cameras.

No monster. No blood. Just another face in the crowd.
